strological weather for June begins calm and peaceful, with Grand Trines in creative fire and emotional water. Mercury is in retrograde until the 10th, the Full Moon in Sagittarius is on the 2nd , the New Moon in Gemini is on the 16th, and the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice, happens on the 21st. Let’s take a look at each one in the order that they occur.
Mercury Retrograde
Several times each year, Mercury appears to move backwards across the sky from our vantage point on Earth due to how it’s orbit interacts with ours as we travel around the Sun. Mercury energetically represents ideas, communication and technology, and it is retrograde in Gemini, one of the signs it rules. When a planet is ‘retrograde’ it appears to move backwards rather than forward, and the energy the

planet represents changes direction with it. There is usually some anxiety around retrograde planets, but if you think about it, when we continually push ourselves to move forward without a break, we burn out. Retrograde planets are a built in ‘time out’, allowing us time for reflection, renewal, reconnecting, relaxing, redoing things, and restructuring. At the beginning of June, rather than moving forward and outward, the energy of our ideas and words, our Mercury, is reflected back at us. We are being asked to stop and think, and to check in with ourselves. We can now get in touch with thoughts and ideas that we have been ignoring until now. It’s a chance to become more conscious of thought, and a great time for healing old thought patterns that have been influencing you without your awareness. Some thoughts and patterns might be helpful, while others are
preventing your forward progress. If you are familiar with your natal chart, and have some astrological know-how, look to the house where Gemini falls for a more pin-pointed look at where you will find maximum benefit from this mental exercise. After the 10th, we are in the retrograde shadow period for about two weeks, so ease back into forward movement if that’s what feels right.
Full Moon
June 2nd, at 9:19PM PDT, we have our annual Full Moon in Sagittarius. One of the great things about this Full Moon is that the Sun and Moon are in the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of ideas and adventures. This moon wants to explore with an eye toward meaningful personal growth. Sagittarius is the Wandering Sage of the zodiac, the ‘rolling stone gathering no moss’ as it roves around the universe in search of new wisdom, ideas, and The Truth. Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius,
is the planet of luck and expansion, and at the moment, Jupiter is in heart centered Leo. This moon asks, “What does your heart desire? What really feeds your soul?” For insight into what area of life this might be for you, find the house where 11 degrees Sagittarius falls in your natal chart. Gemstones to work with during this moon are yellow sapphire and topaz. Colors to work with are purple and blue. Seasonal plants to work with are birch and columbine, and herbs are liver tonics such as milk thistle, dandelion, and Oregon grape. This Full Moon colludes (concludes?) the lunar cycle that began six months ago when the moon was new in Sagittarius, so any goals or intentions that you set then are coming to fruition now.
New Moon
June 16th at 7:05 AM PDT brings the New Moon in Gemini. This is the Moon of communication and connection with, and curiosity about, the world around us. Here we have a chance to break out of our limitations, engage with life in new ways, and see things from new viewpoints. The full moon at the beginning of June closed a 6-month lunar cycle,

while this new moon opens a new cycle. Now is the perfect time to set some intentions around exploring new things or expanding your point of view. If there are people, activities, or places that you have been curious about, now is the time to explore. Get acquainted with others, expand your mind in new ways and work on bolstering your communication skills. Gemini wants to connect so use this energy to support your desire for connections, to come together and interact with others. As with all New Moons, this is also an excellent time for manifestation. Perform a simple ritual around your intentions; you might write them on paper or pour them into a creation of some sort, perhaps a work of art, or a garden...the skys the limit. When the moon is new, it is completely hidden in the shadow of Earth; the sky dark, like a blank canvas. Cast your New Moon intentions onto this canvas and in the following days, as the moon grows in size, your intentions will grow with it. For maximum impact, look at where 25 degrees Gemini falls in your natal chart.
2015 Summer Solstice Each year, the Summer Solstice
occurs on the day the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer. This year, the Solstice falls on June 21st at 9:38 AM PDT. The sun will pause directly overhead and shine the longest on this day. This is the height of the growing season for seeds planted at the beginning of Aries back in March. The Summer Solstice is the merging of Fire and Water energy, which is fitting as most of the month we have had Grand Trines in fire or water, and at times in fire AND water. The light of the sun and the nurturing of the moon are in balance on this day – a balance of masculine and feminine, electricity and magnetism. Following this day, the sun moves toward the southern hemisphere and the days in the north grow gradually shorter. On the Solstice, the moon at the last degree of heart-centered Leo, forming harmonious connections with rebellious Uranus in the sign of fearless Aries, and the Sun, representing our vitality, in the nurturing sign of Cancer. This is the time to take bold steps toward anything that you are passionate about and nurtures your soul. At the same time, the Moon forms challenging aspects with stern Saturn in the secretive sign of Scorpio, with dreamy Neptune in the ocean of Picses and communicative Mercury in Gemini. This combination is highly psychic. It’s time to tie up loose ends left from the last half of 2014 when Saturn was last in Scorpio. On the 22nd, the Moon moved into the service-oriented sign of Virgo for a few days, so in theory, there should be plenty of volunteers to help clean up after any celebrations held on the Summer Solstice this year. SUMMER BEAUTY PAGAN BLESSINGS
S
ummer is a time of warmth, longer days, and spending time reveling in nature. For many, it represents a freedom that gives way to frolic and fun, a revival of the youthful spirit that once filled our beings. The Summer Solstice arises at the height of these summer pursuits, too often forgotten amidst the frivolous joys of living days gone by. To some, the Summer Solstice is simply the longest day of the
6
LOTUS MOON
year, to others however, the day is a special holiday of great celebration, reverence, joy and magic. Known as Litha to Pagan religions, the Summer Solstice is a day of incredible natural blessings that have been bestowed upon the land by the Sun God. Litha is a magical time, a time in which herbs, flowers and crops are at the peak of their growth, when faeries and forest beings are abundant and active with life and mischief, and when
the Goddess is heavily pregnant with the beautiful offspring she will soon birth. It is a celebration of the summer Earth in full bloom, it’s abundance and the fertility and riches of nature. The holiday honors the exchange of reign between the Oak King and the Holly King as the year turns from waxing to waning. Oak is used throughout Litha ceremonies and on many altars. Oak trees are the location for many ceremonies
and can be seen adorned with colored cloths to match the colors of the holiday. To some, Litha, also referred to as Midsummer, seems misplaced as is only the beginning of summer. To the ancient’s, however, the holidays were often based on seasonal growth and harvest schedules. Summer began on Beltane, May 1st, and concluded on Lughnassadh, August 1st, with Litha directly in between. Although the Litha holiday, and all solstice and equinox holidays, are somewhat controversial as to if the holiday actually orignated with the ancient Celts or in Middle East, it is celebrated widely today. Litha celebrations are festive and joyous, and often include dancing, singing, storytelling, pageantry and feasting. Fire is the feature of the holiday and is used for purification, protection, strengthening, to increase fertility and bring prosperity. Litha festivities of long ago included torchlit processions, burning balefires and tar barrels, and setting fire to wodden wheels wrapped in straw and rolling them down steep hillsides into water. It has been said that in some regions, the Litha fires were also used as a tool for divination, predicting the future by viewing the quantity and location of fires seen from the tops of hillsides. Today, Litha festivities differ between religions and locations, but most are a time of merriment and rejoicing in the gifts of the season. Love and relationships are an important aspect of many Litha celebrations. A long held tradition is for courting couples to jump over the Litha fire, or embers, three times for a happy marriage, many children and financial prosperity. Many people still do this today 7
LOTUS MOON
making Litha the perfect time for weddings, handfastings, engagements, love declarations, or simply to devote yourself to nature. To me, the most magical aspect of Litha is the thinning of the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds, making it the perfect time for divination rituals and communication between realms. Litha is also the perfect time to get in touch with your inner faery. By midsummer, the land is alive with living blessings, including faeries. Litha celebrates both work and play; give yourself permission to frolic like children amongst the faeries and ferns, making crowns of fresh flowers and leaving sweet offerings to the fae as you go. Litha is traditionally celebrated from sundown to sundown on the eve of the Summer Solstice. This year, many celebrations are being held at sunset on June 20th, some
lasting all night to watch the sunrise on the morning of Litha. Ways to Celebrate: Light a fire, or candle, and let it burn all day and night, make a crown of flowers, create a Litha altar, enjoy a picnic outside, perform spells, or meditate and connect with the beings from other realms. Common foods include fresh summer fruits and vegetables, honey, pumpernickle bread and ale or mead. Prominent herbs include anise, rose, lavender, sunflowers, elder, mistletoe, st johns wort, fern, pine, heather, and oak and holly trees. Significant ritual colors are blue, green, yellow, gold and red. Frequently used decorations include seashells, summer fruits and flowers, feathers, sundials, fire, oak branches, and love amulets. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Uncovering Karmic Relationship Patterns
Y
our job is not to fix your relationships, it is to learn from them and grow. Many of your most challenging relationships could be related to a soul contract or a past life. Think of a person you know that you are always at odds with, regardless of what you do to make things right. Does this person trigger every button you have? Do you feel you have made every possible effort to resolve the differences between you with no resolution? If your answer is yes, then you are most likely dealing with a karmic relationship.
Why don’t you love me? “I love you, why don’t you love me back?” This was the ongoing theme of my existence for the first part of my life, a feeling of loving others more than they loved me. This pattern repeated itself many times 8
LOTUS MOON
over. I had several people show up in my life that made me feel unloved and rejected. Obviously, a karmic theme. My sister was definitely at the top of my Why don’t you love me list. Very early on in our childhood she wanted nothing to do with me. She would ignore me and pretend I was not in the room. I never understood why, and this caused me to try harder, to beg for her approval and to see me for who I really was. Regardless of my attempts to have a relationship with her, she continued to treat me as if I was invisible. As time went on, our relationship got worse. Why did she think of me as an enemy? Where did I go wrong, and what could I do to fix it? I continued to search for answers, desperate to find a way to heal my relationship with her. Then, one day, she unknowingly set me free.
It was just another day of begging for her attention, love, and approval when she told me, “Kelly, stop trying to be my best friend. We will never be BFF’s, it is just not going to happen so stop trying!” I can’t describe the pain that washed over me the day she muttered those words, but that was the day I decided to let go. Since then, I stopped focusing on her and decided to go within. I clearly see now that this was never about her loving me, it was about me learning to love myself regardless of what others think of me. My entire life was set up in such a way that I had nowhere to run from this soul lesson. The more I looked outside of myself for love, the more rejected and unloved I felt. My sister is just one of the many lessons that showed up in this lifetime to teach me to love and approve of myself.
or negative role in your life. Understanding the concept of co-creation helps you to release the emotional triggers that bind you to that person out of fear, frustration, anger, guilt, shame or pain.
5 Steps to Uncovering Karmic Relationship Relationship Patterns
“Kelly, stop trying to be my best friend. We will never be BFF’s, it is just not going to happen so stop trying!” What is a Karmic Relationship? Karma is known as the law of cause and effect, unbalanced energy, or unfinished business; you reap what you sow. A karmic relationship can be positive or negative. Most karmic relationships consist of two souls intertwined through past lives and soul contracts, which have not yet been fully integrated into their soul. To integrate a soul lesson means to allow that experience to move you into higher levels of awareness and soul expansion. Our souls are constantly seeking expansion through contrast and duality, provided by these types of soul experiences. If your soul reincarnated in this lifetime to resolve and balance a karmic belief that you are disem9 LOTUS MOON
powered, you may find that you are surrounded by dictators and control-centric individuals, people who thrive on having power over others. This type of power is of course a false power driven by the ego, but when you are in the midst of it, it is easy to believe you are powerless. Imagine that prior to coming into your physical form, your soul co-creates with other souls on the spiritual plane to orchestrate experiences for your spiritual evolution. What do you think that co-creation might look like? This would be a contract between your soul and another to create situations that empower life-lesson mastery. Any soul that you have a soul contract with would be considered a soulmate. Your greatest life challengers are your soulmates, regardless of whether they play a positive
Step 1: Identifying Karmic Themes A Karmic theme is a theme that has been present in your life since the beginning. It is the way you feel about things, the way others make you feel, the type of people that you are attracted to or the situations that occur over and over again. This is also known as a spiritual lesson. Write down at least five reoccurring themes you have experienced throughout your life. Note: When you begin to resolve the energetic patterns from within you, you will no longer have the same lessons, but pay attention to the new ones that come forward. Continued on next page...
Step 4: Shifting Your Perspective Think of a person that you have always had an intense emotional reaction to. Shift your awareness into thinking of them as your teacher in this lifetime. Take a moment to write down all the lessons they are here to teach you. What are those lessons? What lessons do you feel you may have to teach them?
you work on will reveal another layer and so on. This is the process of your soul’s evolution. Be willing to look at the bigger picture; you are in the school of life. When you begin to see your relationship
The more awakened you are the faster you will begin to burn through karmic relationships, revealing and integrating more and more soul lessons and receiving the gifts in return! Step 2: Identifying Relationship Patterns Take a moment to write out all the relationship patterns you have noticed in your life, up until this point. Examples are feeling unappreciated, acting as a door mat, being misunderstood, feeling victimized, abused, bullied, scapegoated, used, unloved, not taken seriously etc. Have you noticed a pattern of jealousy, anger, emotionally absent people, neglect, taking others for granted, etc.? Step 3: Uncovering Resistance The easiest way to find your resistance to learning soul lessons is to look at where you blame others, or hold others accountable for the problems in your life. Take a moment to write down all the ways you blame others, or even yourself, for your relationship problems. 10 LOTUS MOON
Step 5: Open the Gift Take a moment to review everything you have written down. Take in three deep breathes. Imagine now that you are viewing your karmic lessons and themes from a higher perspective. What is the gift that you will receive when you allow your lessons to be integrated into your soul? In what ways would your life change? How would you feel different? What gifts will you receive? Be gentle with yourself during this process. You may find that resolving your karmic relationship patterns is like peeling away the layers of an onion. Each layer that
challenges as opportunities to grow verses problems that you have to fix, you will allow new levels of awareness to move you into soul expansion. The universe is constantly mirroring back to you the dominate belief, or energy vibration, you are radiating. When you begin to radiate self-love, personal power, confidence, trust and forgiveness, you open a pathway for healing to take place. Your relationships will begin to shift in a way that is in alignment with your new levels of awareness. Every relationship you have teaches you something important about yourself. Are you ready to release the blame and open the gift? Only you have the power to do so. Written by Kelly T. Smith

HEALERS WHO CARE
Need Self Care
Avoiding the health pitfalls of helping others
A
re you naturally drawn to helping others? Do you put others needs above your own? Do you constantly feel emotionally drained, or even physically ill? As a healer, the most important question you can ask yourself is, “Am I neglecting my own needs?” If you were born a highly sensitive person, more than likely, you are an energy healer. Energy healers are prone to illness and emotional distress because of their need to help others. Unfortunately, most end up neglecting their own needs and health. There is hope, however, and it starts with awareness, and by following the 4 simple steps below. Two years ago, I was just like you, emotionally exhausted, withdrawn and in physical pain. I was tired all the time from sleepless nights, I had frequent migraines and my body constantly ached. As a healer, I was on my way to fulfilling my dream of building a spiritual healing practice. I wanted to nurture hope in others where there was only despair, and re-ignite the spark in life for those who had lost their way. I went back to school to learn about holistic healing. I learned that my own spiritual care was very important to my growth, so prayer, meditation, and
14 LOTUS MOON
journaling became part of my daily routine. As I began to meet more people in the holistic healing field, I sought out a mentor and joined a support group of like-minded individuals who helped me better understand my gifts and how to help others. This motivated me to take on more and more clients, as each one helped me feel a sense of purpose and value that went beyond selfworth. I felt my life’s work was to help others, a gift from the universe that was beyond measure. I was on cloud nine. It felt so good to share my gift with others. I felt like a superhero, ready to throw a cape across my shoulders and sew a giant ‘H’ onto my shirt for the healer I’d become. I was determined to save the universe. My client list was growing and I was busier than ever. I also worked a full-time job in another career, as many healers do when they first start down this path. My school assignments were piling up and I was finding less time to complete all that I needed to do. While working with my clients, I felt their sadness, their despair, their longing for a better life on a deep level. Each week, I met with people who were suffering and lost, and as an Empath, their pain became my pain. During this time, my significant other was experiencing recurring
depression and anxiety. Although he never asked for my guidance, I wanted to help him because his ongoing depression was painful to watch, and it was putting an unbearable strain on our relationship. I reached out in the capacity of healer, which only served to drive a wedge between us. As time went on and my work schedule increased, I began to feel depleted. I started isolating myself. I stopped reaching out to my support group, I talked to my mentor less and less, I stopped meditating and journaling and I only prayed when I cried out in despair. I was in such emotional pain. I felt hopeless. I was angry at myself for letting my physical and emotional health sink this low. How could I call myself a healer if I couldn’t even heal myself? This didn’t happen all at once, but over a period of time. I had somehow disengaged from my joyful life. What were the signs? What could I have done differently? Where did I miss-step? THE DANGER ZONE As it turns out, there were signs along the way, I was just too absorbed in my desire to help others to see them. There are two significant signs that result from the lack of self-care, burnout and crossing boundaries. Reaching one, or both, of these two steps is referred to as the danger zone. Once a healer has
crossed into this unhealthy zone, they begin to isolate themselves. Isolation can lead to feelings of despair causing complete disengagement from the world around them. BURNOUT The first sign you may be moving into the Danger Zone is Burnout. Healers can experience an overload of emotional distress, loss or pain through their clients. Most healers are also empathic making the possibility of overload that much more inevitable. Burnout is the result of feeling too much – too much compassion and too much empathy; all the things that make healers’ gifts so powerful, beautiful and unique. Burnout shows up as exhaustion, powerlessness, hopelessness and self-doubt. If left untreated, it can lead to depression, cynicism, negativity and loss of idealism. When healers are heavily stressed, or have reached Burnout, they often abandon self-care just when they need it most. In the absence of selfcare, boundary lines can become blurred. 15 LOTUS MOON
CROSSING BOUNDARIES While serving as a healer can be an amazing experience, a healer’s role is to help others, always staying mindful of their boundaries. Healing is about your client, its not about you or the needs you may be fulfilling by helping your client. If you find yourself becoming increasingly invested in clients’ issues or personal life, and find yourself needing to be informed on how they are doing on a continual basis, then it’s time to step back and assess your motivation. This is the second sign you’ve stepped into a healer’s Danger Zone. Four questions to ask yourself : 1. “Who benefits from the relationship with the client?” 2. “Whose needs are being met, my own or my client?” 3. “What is the impact of my involvement with my client?” 4. “How am I impacting my clients’ relationship with their family and friends?” Everyone needs a nurturing and
supportive environment. Meeting your own needs through the position of healer is crossing a boundary. When your self-esteem needs are met in this way, the client is not served and trouble is likely to follow. When I offered to help my significant other I automatically crossed boundaries, because I loved him. Unfortunately, his emotional pain became my emotional pain, I experienced his depression as he experienced it; I was in physical and emotional anguish. Had I asked myself these important questions prior to reaching out, I may have saved both of us from unnecessary emotional torture. Another example of crossing boundaries could be with a close friend or family member who asks for your help. Perhaps the situation starts out with a simple request for guidance, but as time goes on, they continue to seek you out, you, becoming more and more invested with the outcome of their situation. Staying clear, intentional and re-
maining aware of boundaries serves the needs of everyone. Maintaining healthy boundaries is a part of selfcare.

Self-care should be a part of your daily spiritual practice, a commitment to yourself. E.B. White, author of the children’s book Charlotte’s Web, said, “If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” As healers, we must be mindful of planning for both. Wrtten by Kelly Stroud

Shadow Work through OZ

e live in a sea of archetypes. An archetype is more than just a role we play; it is a vibrational pattern of behavior holding great energy. We all have different combinations that make up who we are. Some we shed over time, some we call in. Archetypes color our perception of the world. Some can be extremely painful and hard to bear, others joyful and rewarding. Within great stories and fairy tales are instructions if we look carefully. They have a kind of blueprint encoded within them. When we observe the patterns within the story’s blueprint we can see solutions to painful archetypes such as the Victim. 18 LOTUS MOON
In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy feels like the Victim. Miss Gulch takes her dog and no one seems to want to help. Even the scenery is barren, and everything is black and white. Dorothy feels alone and abandoned. It is interesting to note that she lives with her aunt and uncle, we never hear what happened to her parents. Often the patterns of childhood are re-enacted into adulthood as a core-wound that must be healed. Toto does find his way back to Dorothy. He represents her Instinctual Self. We must have our instincts and our intuition intact in order to proceed with healing the wound. Prayer comes after the acknowledgement of the wound. Dorothy sings Somewhere over the Rainbow, the song itself being a powerful and heartfelt prayer. Divine Intervention comes in the form of a tornado. Often a storm must come to clear the air, to shift things. She stays in the center of the storm observing the chaos around her. When she lands in Oz, everything is bright and colorful. The munchkins celebrate and welcome her. It seems as if her prayers have been answered. An angelic-like being floats down to see her. She asks, “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?” Meaning, we all have magic and power, how do you use your magic? She blesses her by kissing her forehead and giving her the ruby slippers. Symbolically, she must now walk in Miss Gulches
shoes. She becomes the seeker now. She and Toto bring together the Scarecrow, the Tinman, and the Lion. In effect, Dorothy and her Instinctual Self, Toto, gather wisdom, love and power to meet the Wizard. The Wizard represents the Authority figure, the Patriarch claiming to have all the answers. He challenges her to defeat the Witch, the Witch representing her Shadow-self, the Wounded Feminine. This Shadow aspect carries great pain, fear and rage that has been suppressed. Dorothy has to bring the spiritual Warrior; the Warrior and the Victim are no longer compatible. The stronger archetype now takes over. The Warrior has the ability to lift up and transmute the Victim. When the Witch approaches them with fire, signifying rage, Dorothy throws water, signifying compassion, at her. To have the strength, wisdom and courage to stand in the presence of such devastation of the psyche and be able to hold loving intent is incredibly healing. The Witch melts and Dorothy takes her broom, assimilating the Witch into herself. Now that her psyche is whole, she is able to stand up to the patriarchal authority figure and demand that he keep his promise, however she doesn’t even need him to...she is that powerful now! She is a good Witch who won’t be bullied. She knows how to use her magic now. Story & Artwork by Nicole Feltovic

Michelle Mann
Beauty, Brains & Benevolent Wisdom 20 LOTUS MOON
I
knew it was going to be hot, it wasn’t called a sweatlodge for nothing, but when my vision blurred as my contacts fused to my eyeballs, I thought, What in the hell have I gotten myself into? The downpour of tears from my eyes was no match for the downpour of sweat already drenching my body. Holy sh*t, it’s only been 20 minutes? I thought to myself, thankful to find temporary relief as I left the lodge to remove my contacts, but wondering how in the hell I was going to make it through another hour or so. The air inside the small space was difficult to breathe as cup after cup of water was dumped onto fire-heated rocks, steam erupting into the air as sparks of water spewed in all directions. I looked at my friend Michelle thinking, Holy Cow, the woman is cool as a cucumber, while I am...well, let’s just say hot mess can’t even begin to describe the kind of mess I was. At least twice I felt the swirl of unconsciousness pulling me down into a blissful place away from the sweaty torture I was in. Of course, being the stubborn one that I am I shook it off and pressed on, intermittently settling my head against the weeds and small angry desert plants sprouting through the dirt floor. I prayed to feel even the slightest bit of cool air on my cheeks, or sweet death, whichever happened to come first. A couple of hours later, I had managed to make it through my first Native American purification ritual with a lot of tears, whining and a bit of dehydration, thanks to my dear friend, and this month’s featured spiritualist, Michelle Mann. She stayed by my side throughout the ordeal, offering her spiritual wisdom, friendship, and

the occasional douse of cool water when my consciousness looked a bit shady. Like everything she does, and everyone she offers her help to, Mann does it will her whole heart, and pure intentions of love. A spiritual guru from Tucson, Ariz., and owner of Authentic Choices-A Pathway to Wholeness, Mann has devoted herself to helping others through spiritual healing on the soul-level. She offers life coaching, energy work, angel card readings and purification ceremonies, particularly that of Native American sweat lodges. Her job here on Earth, to bring balance and completeness back into existence through unconditional love. “My greatest gift is the ability to see the inner beauty and light in everyone I meet—the ability to love everyone unconditionally,” said Mann. “There are very few people I don’t click with, or love uncondi22 LOTUS MOON
tionally. Forgiveness comes pretty easy for me as well—it may take me a few years to heal from the relationship, or work through any wrong doings by the other person, but once I do, it’s like the situation as it was no longer exists for me,” she explained. Filled with love, humor and great humility, Mann opens her heart to everyone she meets. She’s never afraid to tell you what you need to hear, but does so in a loving and respectful way, carefully revealing only what you need as you journey down your path toward healing and self-discovery. Mann uses her ancient wisdom and intense connection with the Divine to deliver her clients with treasured intuitive insights, love and acceptance. LOTUS MOON: What
title would you give yourself in regards to your spiritual work?
MICHELLE MANN: I am not sure I would give myself a title, honestly, but many have referred to me as a Shaman of Light or Love. LM: How would you best describe the work that you do? MM: I work from a soul-level. Many times I am able to see back to the beginning of a soul’s existence, when it separated from the whole. I am often shown blockages preventing soul’s from accessing their full power, or light. I also see what I refer to as openings, or places within a soul that dark energies have access to, or can be trapped within. These energies often present as chaos, attachments, addictions, emotional problems, and issues with health and self-worth. My work provides a space for people to make clear choices about these energies, and allows them to identify what they need in their life to heal and
become whole—to live a full life and shine as they were intended to. LM: What is your greatest spiritual talent? MM: Being present for those I am working with. Meeting people where they are, emotionally and spiritually, and loving them unconditionally so they feel safe and know they matter, and what they offer [the the world] matters, and is much needed. We all have something to contribute to this Earth. Each of us is a beautiful piece of the
much pain, and/or fear, so a space is created for them to find a true authentic connection to God/Divine/Spirit. Once this connection is made, they are able to see the authentic beauty within themselves, and the power of who they really are. They have the ability to not only love themselves unconditionally, but others as well. How do you feel when you are able to help someone? MM: It is the best feeling ever! It’s like getting to have soft serve yogurt with all the fixings I love! [Laughs.] In all honesty, it is a feeling on completion and fulfillment—truly the best. It makes my heart and soul soar with love and excitement. LM:
hours to say my goodbyes if I wanted to, which of course I did. It was the most sacred 24-hours—I cried and cried, I read to him, I prayed and I talked to him. At the time it seemed so strange to me as I was completely moving from something deep inside of me. There was so much profound love just pouring out of me. I could also feel change happening all around me, but had no clue what it meant. Deep inside I knew [Bumper’s death] was preparing me for something. I lived alone at the time and remember thinking I was going crazy, maybe I was. [Laughs.] Little did I know that I was being prepared to help my mom pass from this life to the next six months later.
“Although she never understood me, she never judged me, just loved me—the best gift ever.” How long have you been doing your spiritual work? MM: In this life or the past? [Laughs.] For as long as I can remember, I just didn’t fully understand that I was working on my spiritual path until 1999, September 9, 1999. LM:
picture and is important. The work I have chosen to accept is to help people see that and step into themselves completely, if they choose to. Often I am not only able to see the fabric of human souls, but that of the Universe, and sometimes, other Universes as well. What do you enjoy about helping others? MM: I love seeing people find their path, and watching the light and connection [with the light]returning for them. Most souls that come to me are pretty lost, filled with so LM:

“Notice the numbers?” asks Mann, explaining that 9’s in many cultures, and angelically, can represent completion, sacred missions, life purpose, psychic abilities and spiritual awakening. [Continues about September 9th] That day I had to make a choice, at the time, a hard choice to put my kitty, Bumper, down—he was 3. He had developed a rare kidney problem and I was given 24 MM:
For 15-years prior, I had been having nightmares about losing [my mom]—she was the one person who loved me unconditionally. My fear [of her loss] was great. I wondered how I could survive without her and her love. Although she never understood me, she never judged me, just loved me—the best gift ever. Losing her was very difficult, and of course I still miss her physical presence, but what happened for me at that moment change my life forever. My true awakening and spiritual journey began. I started to ‘see’ and ‘feel’ in ways that I didn’t outwardly understand, but were familiar spiritually. I began to know things, not understanding why or how I knew them—I just did.
24 LOTUS MOON
Once it was determined there was nothing medically more that could be done for her, [my mom] was moved to my aunt’s house where she could finish her time here on Earth in serenity. Within a day she went into a coma-like state. I continued to lay with her and sleep beside her for 10 days while she made her transition from this world to the next. I began to ‘see’ and ‘feel’ her soul leaving and coming back into her body. I could also ‘see’ this bubble around her. It was a golden color with the brightest white light radiating from the golden light with a tube, for lack of a better word, coming up from this bubble. It was truly amazing. The weirdest thing was I could also ‘see’, and sense, dark energy on the outskirts of this bright light. After three or four days of sensing my mothers soul coming and going, and no physical response from her, she sat straight up in bed and tried to speak to me. I looked into her eyes, honestly I’m still not clear today on what I saw, but I knew that she was okay and wanted me to be okay. She laid back down and I knew her soul had left her body--it was now above it, hovering and waiting. I still had no clue how I knew all of this or where it was coming from, but I felt so peaceful and strong. I began conversing with her non-physically, and I could feel she was processing things and healing. My mothers [physical] body remained alive for another five days before she took her last breath, and during that time I had the most incredible conversations with her. It was the most humbling experience being allowed to help her heal many aspects of herself—helping her heal so she could return to a 25 LOTUS MOON
whole state before she completely left her body. I learned a lot! A few days after she passed, my aunt gave me a book titled Embraced by the Light. I started reading it and found many answers I had been searching for, and much more. It was the best book ever and really helped me stay grounded, which I hadn’t known I even needed. [Laughs.]
completed, many Native American ceremonies. I began receiving a constant stream of spiritual information. I read many books, studied many different healing modalities, and learned basic life skills—it was awesome! I felt so alive and on fire with my passion to serve. This is where my true gifts and service began, moving out into the world in big ways. I started working with people in other parts of the US and throughout the world helping them heal and find spiritual wholeness. What have you learned about yourself, and others, throughout your spiritual journey? MM: What stands out is how little I really know, in so many ways. Even though I have done, been shown and dreamt many things, there is always so much more to see and learn, even within the things I already know. Does that make sense? It’s like an onion, if you were going to peel one--if you could peel one for that matter. [Laughs.] There are always deeper things to learn, even within what you already know or practice. I have come to accept that I really know very little, and there will always be something for me to learn. I am also aware that when someone comes onto my path that challenges me, they usually become my teacher as there is much to learn from them. I try to look at all things wondering what can be learned. I work to be the student in most areas of my life. LM:
In 2002 I was once again asked to serve, this time to help my oldest sister. She became a ward of mine from the state as she was an alcoholic with many physical and emotional issues—she took her life from alcohol poisoning six months later. This transition was not as easy from a spiritual perspective but proved to be just as enlightening, if not more in some ways. It began reawakening aspects of me that I had no clue existed. Four months after my sister’s passing, an opportunity presented itself and I began my formal training to understand the spiritual path I was now on. My training consisted of an apprenticeship in many faiths, and I went through, and
LM: What do you love about the work you do? MM: Almost everything! I find it to be like brushing your teeth, which I am happy to report I do a lot more regularly since taking my son to preschool every morning. [Laughs.] First of all, it doesn’t feel like work,
or that I’m actually doing anything unless of course I’m using a tool and have to consciously think about what I’m doing. [My work] is an extension of who I am, a way of being for me, it is just part of me. I am constantly learning, growing and becoming more with each passing day, which allows me to serve in a bigger way. I honestly just love it— it makes me happy. What is difficult about the work you do? MM: Somethings this work is very lonely. My calling is to work myself out of work. [Laughs.] I help souls that are struggling to find wholeness, but once they do, my work is done. This is awesome, but sometimes hard because I have to say goodbye, and that is never easy. LM:
LM: What is your least favorite aspect of your current spiritual work? MM: Not being able to help someone because of free will. For example, there was a young person I was called to work with. I had never met her, or her family, because they lived in another state, but her mom reached out to me because she was desperate to heal her daughter and 26 LOTUS MOON
none of the conventional methods she tried had worked. Her daughter was being manipulated by dark energies. The girl was doing very unhealthy things in her life and had stated she was going to take her own life. The young woman was very clear that she was being manipulated by dark energies only creating more fear in her mom because she had three young children in the home. When her mom reached out to me, the girl was two months shy of turning 15. Because of her age, free will was in place— meaning she had to choose to want my help. The young girl tried to take her life, but thankfully did not succeed. Unfortunately, because she was a minor, the law mandated she be moved to a facility to prevent future suicide attempts. Her mom was the only one who was allowed access to her, so she convinced the facility to grant me periodic phonecalls with her, so we began having regular conversations. She began trusting me little by little, but could not understand how I could love her and be there for her when we had never met. After a
month or two of talking, she made the choice that she wanted to fully embrace the dark energies. At that point, I had to completely release her as my presence was no longer welcome. It was the hardest thing ever—she was only 15! I knew there was nothing more I could do but let her know that I loved her, and if she chose to come back, I would be here ready to fight for her soul in whatever way she needed. I told her I would never leave her, but she would have to reach out as I could not reach back in with the choice she was making. All I could do was pray and hold strong where I stood. I knew that God/Divine/ Spirit/Source was all around, I could feel the energy along with that of Archangel Michael and the angels, but they too must respect the law of free will, so they also waited. Two or three months later, she called me. The hardest thing she had ever done, but as I came to realize, she is one of the strongest young ladies I have had the pleasure of knowing. She did the work needed to come back into the light, and we remain very close to this day. I am profoundly humbled by her commitment to heal and become a beacon of light for all those she encounters. So, to fully answer your question, the hardest part about this work, is when those who I am called to help are unable to make a clear choice, and there is nothing I can do. One of your healing modalities is Native American purification rituals, specifically sweat lodges. You have also spent much time studying Native American spirituality. What is your connection to Native American history and spirituality, and what draws you to their rituals, LM:

ceremonies and way of life? MM: I am drawn to the connectedness amongst all things. The Native American culture is very connected to the Source of ALL, and therefore, when you study it or use their ceremonial practices, it allows you to fully access who you are no matter what your beliefs may be. My alignment is with God/Divine/ Spirit/Source to help all souls find their way back to the light, or into the light. I find Native American tools to be very fitting as there is no preconceived energy attached to it, and no judgement placed on anyone as it is only about whether you serve the light or not. I feel honored to be able to use some of the Native American ceremonies and teachings. Are there any other spiritual cultures that you love, or are naturally drawn to? MM: Oh gosh, I love so many! I feel like I [use] a collage of everything put together. [Laughs.] Basically, if something feels right, I use it. How I make the decision whether to use something or not is by looking at its energy, since everything has energy. I look to see that its energy LM:
28 LOTUS MOON
is aligned with God/Divine/Spirit/ Source and if the associated energy has made a clear choice toward light. If it has, then I learn more about it and add it to what I already use, this also applies to tools. I am very open to learning about new things all the time! Is there anything you would like to learn more about? MM: EVERYTHING! [Laughs.] As long as it aligns with good, then I am totally open to learning about it. I love new things and feel that you can never know enough. The more you know, the better you can serve. LM:
LM: If you could say something to someone just beginning their spiritual journey, or who has lost their faith, what would you tell them? MM: CALL ME! [Laughs.] Honestly, I would tell them PLEASE don’t give up! Put yourself on a purification to drop your ego. Surround yourself with those who see your internal beauty. Listen to your intuition. We need YOU and the beautiful light and love you offer in this fabric we call Earth. YOU MATTER! When we are first starting out and
blossoming into our true authentic selves, the opposite of light will try to keep us paralyzed, stuck and fearful by presenting us with distractions. Persevere and I promise you will get stronger, and those moments of struggle and distractions, even though they will come again, will not be as difficult because you will gain the skills to work through them faster. Astrology by Aiyanna
Continued from page 5...
What is a Grand Trine? In western astrology, the signs of the zodiac form a wheel called the ecliptic, which moves around the Earth. They rotate around the earth in the same order they fall during the calendar year. Signs are classified by the elements of fire, earth, air and water, and alternate four times in that order on their way around the wheel of the zodiac, each sign taking 30 degrees of the wheel. When planets fall into astrological signs of the same element, they are 120 degrees apart. Think of the sides of an equilateral triangle, each side resting against one other in perfect balance, this is a trine. Trine aspects are balanced and harmonious, just like an equilateral triangle. When there are planets in all of the zodiac signs belonging to one of the elements, drawing a line between them would form a triangle; this is a Grand Trine. In the first part of June, we have Grand Trines, or planets working harmoniously, in fire and water. Fire is creative and initiating, and water is feeling and receptive. Later in the month, the Summer Solstice combines fire and water once again. This month is about balancing initiating and receiving energies; the Divine Marriage of masculine and feminine. 32 LOTUS MOON

I dove into the rabbit hole in order to understand and heal old, dysfunctional ideas and patterns, and remember what I know, and it has worked. Now it’s time for me to give back by sharing what I learn on my journeys of remembering myself and expressing my potential.
