Dear Lakeview Family,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous support of Lakeview Academy! You give your time, treasures, and talents to make Lakeview the school that is recognized locally, regionally, and even nationally for its students who amaze me with their successes and accomplishments. You – parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends –are what make Lakeview what it is, and I thank you. Your big-hearted giving humbles me, and I am so grateful for you.

3

Over 400 of you – parents, grandparents, alumni, friends, families and corporations –gave to Lakeview in the 2021-2022 fiscal year. This giving report is a celebration of you and your generosity. Your giving enhanced every aspect of Lakeview Academy and totaled

First, you were generous. Second, for this report we combined all sources of giving – Lion Fund, annual auction, booster clubs, sponsorships, restricted gifts for specific purposes – and that totals $1.4 million. (A small number of gifts have been made or pledged toward an upcoming capital campaign, and they are not included in this total. Read more on page 19.)

$1.4 million !

4 ’21 ’22 L A Philanthropy Report
“Wow!” you might say. “How did we do that?”
FUEL
5 First, 10 percent of the money raised from the Lion Fund and 15 percent of the auction revenue goes straight to the Lakeview endowment. These combined donations last year totaled over $85,000 – $30,000 more than the previous year. The endowment’s total is approximately $3.5 million and exists as a form of security for Lakeview’s future. A few of the ways your gifts were put to use… • Facility renovations including flooring, new furniture in computer labs, video boards, and updates to the fine arts annex • Enhanced security with two additional officers on campus and a new check-in point • Continuing education and expanded benefits for faculty and staff • Campus beautification with a new landscaped entrance and signage • Musical instruments and the continuation of programs like samba and strings • New soccer goals, a shot clock, coaching software, field fencing and more • New playground Your next question might be, “How were these gifts used?” successING LAKEVIEWACADEMY.COM

When we asked the Woods and the Hornors why they have included Lakeview Academy in their estate plans, their answers were straight forward.

generations

Trey, ’04, and Morgan

“ We included Lakeview in our will because it is near to our hearts. Lakeview has given so much to our family, and it is a simple way to say thank you when we are gone.”

have three children enrolled at Lakeview. Jock and Joyce (right) Hornor’s three sons graduated from Lakeview, and two granddaughters are now enrolled.

“We love Lakeview, what it does, and how it thinks.

You need to think ahead to the future, and I want Lakeview to be here in perpetuity.

I am confident about its future.”

Making a planned gift is a personal decision between you and your lawyer or CPA. Here are a few reasons to consider a planned gif:

• Your planned gif, no matter the size, provides future funding for Lakeview.

• Your CPA or financial advisor can advise you on possible tax savings. A planned gif may help your estate avoid capital gains tax.

• Your planned gif may be more financially doable than an outright gif today.

• Your planned giving options may include giving through retirement plans, revocable trusts, charitable trusts, securities, and real estate, but the most common form of planned giving is to include Lakeview in your will.

• You may be able to provide for the current financial needs of a spouse or loved one while still making a future gif to Lakeview.

The Woods and the Hornors are members of Lakeview’s Legacy Society. If you have included Lakeview in your estate plans and would like to be recognized as a member of The Legacy Society, or would like more information, please contact amanda.willis@ lakeviewacademy.org or 770-531-2626.

The Future is Bright!

The Lakeview strategic plan approved last spring calls for raising financial support above and beyond annual giving to make possible expanded facilities or programs. The strategic plan also calls for a feasibility study, which began in June, to help the administration and board of trustees understand what you – our donors – consider to be Lakeview’s highest priorities and whether there is financial support for them.

The outcome of this study, which is being conducted by Columns Studies of Atlanta, will be presented to the board this fall. The administration and board will assess the results and make the determination to enter a capital campaign as well as identify the projects to be funded.

NEWS FLASH: Due to a generous $1 million gift from the Davenport Family Foundation, which has been matched by four donors, Lakeview will launch a fundraising effort with $2 million already given in cash and/or committed in pledges. We are grateful to the Davenport Family Foundation for its vision for a robust and growing Lakeview Academy, and for the four donors who stepped up to match it – Meg and Allen Nivens, Morgan and Trey Wood ’04, and two others who wish to remain anonymous.

“These are exciting days at Lakeview Academy, and I am grateful from the bottom of my heart for the generous expressions of support from all of you. The future is bright, and I am confident that we will continue to be a school where children thrive, in large part because of all of you.”
