If your date night routine seems to be in a bit of a “dinner and movie” rut, the good news is the South Metro area offers a variety of activities that will get you in the swing of things, challenge your creative side or help you find something fun to do even if you don’t have a clue.
One of the more popular venues that recently opened in Centennial is Top Golf near Arapahoe Road and Havana. Even if you’re not “swingers” it’s a fun way to spend a couple of hours trying to hit golf balls in the dartboard-like targets on a 240 yard lighted field. Computerized screens keep score and you can play various types of games. The complex has individual bays that are rented by the hour. It’s outdoors, but heated, so you can play year round. There’s a full bar and food as well. It’s busy and first come, first serve, so you can expect to wait on weekend nights. If you purchase a onetime $50 VIP pass online you can reserve a bay up to seven days in advance. Evenings it’s $45 per hour-but each bay can accommodate 4 to 6 people comfortably. Top Golf provides clubs or you can bring your own.

For an old school evening of fun, check out the multiple bowling alleys and video arcades nearby. Celebrity Lanes at Parker and Arapahoe has open bowling and video games to bring out the kid in you. You can also check out lanes at the Arapahoe Bowling Center in Greenwood Village, AMF Lanes in Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Littleton and the Brunswick Zone in Lone Tree. Moe’s BBQ in southeast Aurora has bowling, billiards and BBQ to boot. So channel your best “Big Lebowski” and lace up a pair of rental shoes. Parker’s Arts Culture and Events Center (PACE) offers Comedy and Cocktails usually once a month on Fridays as well as concerts, musicals and plays along with other events that may appeal to your “cultural” side. Tickets in the range of $20-$45 Also check out the Lone Tree Arts Center for a variety of concert and theatrical performances. If you’re adventurous and want to hang out with a younger crowd check out a concert at the historic Gothic Theater in Englewood. It’s an old movie theater that showed the first “talkies” in the 1920’s. The general admission is standing room only on a dance floor with a few bar stools in the balcony. You may not have heard of many of the bands, but check the schedule, there may be something that appeals to your musical tastes. Tickets usually run $25-$35 and there are some great local acts that perform.
If you’d rather have a Pinot with your painting then check out Canvas and Cocktails at the Streets at SouthGlenn or Canvas Uncorked in Parker. Both venues offer painting classes in a high energy, entertaining environment. It’s a lot of fun whether you come as a couple or with a group of friends, an instructor will help you paint the perfect picture. Reservations are recommended as the classes usually are full on weekends and run anywhere from $25-$45 per person. And finally if you haven’t a clue about what to do, then the “Clue Room” on Arapahoe Road in Centennial is right for you. It’s a live escape game where you’re locked in a room for an hour and have to find the hidden clues and solve riddles to escape. You book online and two people can participate but the rooms accommodate up to six and you may be paired with other people during busy times. Prices are $28 per person.

I just love chicken fajitas! They are such a wonderful ‘family’ food in my opinion, because they suit just about everyone’s taste! The great thing about fajitas is that the basic ingredients are naturally healthy. However, many recipes call for a heavy amount of oil, making them surprisingly high in calories. This recipe is flavorful, light, and so easy to make! Just put everything in a crockpot in the morning (or the night before), and you will have a healthy and complete meal ready in just a few hours!

Offered by day spas, medical spas, and dermatologists, what follows is a brief overview of some of the options that are available.

Medical spas typically operate under the supervision of a physician and provide results-oriented, medicalgrade services and products with higher percentages of effective ingredients. Dermatologists can offer even higher percentages of effective ingredients, diagnose diseases and prescribe products and medications. For those who don’t require the level of treatment provided by a dermatologist but who want a more results-

focused treatment than typically offered at a day spa, med spas can be a great option. Med spas offer a wide variety of services, ranging from injections to fight wrinkles, skin resurfacing techniques and laser hair removal. There are a wide variety of treatments and services available, and the selection will often vary by the spa. What follows is a brief description of some of the more common treatments that can help you with your concerns. A reputable med spa will provide detailed treatment information and options, including on any possible side effects.

TREATMENTS AIM FO R RE S U LTS
Laser Treatments Laser resurfacing directs concentrated pulses of light beams at areas of skin affected by blemishes, acne scars, wrinkles and other irregularities. The laser removes skin layer by layer, and treated skin will peel several days after treatment. Related treatments called photofacial, photorejuvenation or intense pulsed light (IPL), direct intense pulses of light to problem areas to help tighten skin, and reduce redness and age lines. Laser hair removal involves sending beams of highly concentrated light into hair follicles, which destroys unwanted hair but leaves surrounding skin undamaged. Treatment can take just minutes for small areas and permanent results can be achieved after repeated sessions, usually spaced four to six weeks apart.
Micro-Needling Injectables Most people have heard of Botox, which is a purified toxin used to immobilize muscles in the face that contract hundreds of times a day and contribute to the formation of wrinkles. Other popular brand names include Xeomin and Dysport. Injectables are often used to address lines around the eyes and between the eyebrows. Treatments are usually repeated every three to four months. Other injectables are designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by injecting fillers. Brand names include Juvederm, Perlane, and Restylane. These treatments can last from several months to more than a year. Fillers can also be used as volumizers to lift the cheeks, temples and jawline and add plumpness to the lips.
A relatively new treatment is micro-needling — also called collagen induction therapy — which uses a device containing fine needles to create small, controlled punctures that the body will spontaneously heal with new collagen and elastin. The treatment can improve skin texture and firmness and reduce the appearance of scars, pore size and stretch marks. Treatment can be repeated once or twice per year.
Facial Services Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation technique that uses tiny crystals to remove the top layer of dry, dead skin cells, leaving skin rejuvenated. The service treats a wide variety of skin issues, including dull skin, discoloration, age spots, and scars. Treatments can be repeated weekly to every two months. Chemical Peels use a variety of acid-based chemical solutions to essentially irritate and blister the skin, which eventually peels, leaving a smoother layer of skin. Peels are used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, scars, acne, age spots, freckles, dark patches, and dull skin. Depending on the strength of the peel, treatment can be repeated monthly.
Choosing a Provider Before entrusting your skin to a provider offering any of these services, it is wise to do a little homework to find a reputable med spa. Many facilities will offer a free initial consultation at which you can learn more about potential treatments, certifications, education of the estheticians and potential side effects of any treatment. Research who the supervising physician at the location, whether they are on site during treatments, how many times the med spa technicians have performed specific procedures and what training they have received. If you are concerned about how your skin will react to a treatment, ask if it is possible to perform a test patch, and stay in close contact with the med spa representative following treatment if any unexpected reactions or side effects occur.

PEOPLE ARE CHANGING THEIR MINDS ABOUT CONSIGNMENT STORES, ESPECIALLY AFTER VISITING DESIGN REPEATS IN HIGHLANDS RANCH.
The quality consignment furniture and accessories store houses 14,000 square feet of gently used furniture attractively arranged in vignettes, complemented by a variety of new home accessories, creating a beautiful mix of items to meet any decorating needs and budget. The team attends major home accessory shows in search of items that really add punch to the store. Their creative displays and outstanding customer service earned Design
