Lately, I see more businesses starting to set up Facebook Business Pages instead of using their own personal profile accounts for business use. That seems to show that more people now understand and are following the Guidelines To Using Facebook. As more people are setting up Facebook Pages, many are using special Facebook Reveal Tabs or Fan Gates on these newly created Facebook Business Pages. Typically, this is where visitors are given incentives to "Like" the page in exchange for some freebies. Yet it is not often that I see administrators offer their readers a cause to join the community or Page! Consider these two cases. You are use Facebook to promote your brand or business and you created two different Facebook Pages. With the first page you uploaded an audio file or a report that shared some industry trends and

With the second page, you have a big, bold, blinking red arrow pointing at the Facebook “Like” Button on the landing tab with a message to please “support me and like my page” as I want to reach so many fans. If you were the visitor, which page or community will you join?

Structures Are Dead Merely having a structure like a Facebook Page or a website or blog by itself won't do much to your business if the mentality is still one of wanting to get as much as you can from others without wanting to first give and prove your worth.

Others are not interested in what you want for your business. First prove yourself worthy as an industry leader with the needed expertise to help before you start asking for support from your readers. By definition, others will only follow only when you lead. And lead you must with certainty and focus. And as you lead it often involves giving in terms of advice, strategies, direction, support and help. When you have served and shown your expertise then only you qualified to ask for support and to be followed. Am I making this up or is this the thought process already in our head?

Out To Get Before Showing You Care

Pasting affiliate or self serving links and spamming others’ walls do not go well with many either. This is especially unpleasant if you have not taken the time first to relate to or connect with your audience. If you must sell on Facebook (not the best place to do so), first build a relationship and a reputation with your readers. As they get to know and like you then you can share more of your solutions to their problems. You need to earn their trust with both your industry knowledge and your care before anyone will want to entrust you with their issues. Facebook Page is definitely not a place for marketers to squeeze everything they can from their prospects and consumers. It is a social network platform, where individuals engage with each friends and associates and they connect on a social level. Visitors will not remain or engage if you're only out to obtain as much as it is possible to from your local community.

Mindless Repetition And Empty Chatter!

Copying and pasting the exact message fifty million times and recycling them periodically by advance scheduling is annoying – to say the least. This is not only uninteresting, it is repetitive and dry. Surely, there are updates, trends and new things to write about?

4. Share Your Insights And Take A Stand Sometimes we come across a good article and we want to share it with others. That is helpful especially when we are able to also share of the relevance and impact of the content that is being distributed. However, merely posting links to others’ work and findings without offering any personal comments, views or feedback on the issue at hand does not add much value to the readers. I do not have issues with sharing others content, or quote. Merely reposting without giving any comment and feedback does not seem to achieve much. Being an industry leader or expert, others are interested in your insights. They want to know how you perceive trends and how that trend will impacts them. Without sharing your views, readers are not sure what to make of the article, post or video.

Reverse Engineer Please So there you have it. If you want to drive people away from your page, just do any of the above. Otherwise you can start with doing just the exact opposite. Build your credibility as well as some relationships before presenting others with your service or a product that they will find helpful. Seek to offer solution, reach out and show your concern and others will want to read your posts and visit your page.
