02/03

all the fairy tales we heard from our childhood starts with the same beginning, »once upon a time ...« Shirren Lim is a Malaysian photographer living in Jakarta, Indonesia. Born in Penang Island, Malaysia, in 1970. Shirren would find herself moving cities over the course of her life; and now finds herself based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Shirren took up photography in 2009. What she thought would be an interesting habit, she later discovered was to become a passion. Shirren’s main subject are portraitures and now slowly landscapes. To her, the expressions people wear are so beautiful, so telling, so naked in their sincerity. With her photo-taking, she tries and do justice to capture humanity in its many forms. Shirren also dabbles and experiment in other areas such as iphoneography and lomography. She spends a good amount of her time on personal projects and dreaming of her next travel adventure. Shirren’s work has been described as intense and earthy with her simple composition cutting to the heart of the subject matter.
