CORNWALL
Welcome to the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival 2019 is the 16th year of the world-renowned Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival. We have a huge variety of groups performing across the town and each year the festival grows with larger audiences enjoying the atmosphere. We continue to raise as much money as possible for the RNLI with activities such as the ‘Betty Stogs Challenge’ where groups aim to collect the most money per head versus Betty. This is all part of the fun while raising money for a great cause. Such is the success of the festival that it has become three full days of entertainment where originally the event started on the Friday evening, people are already in town and want to soak up the atmosphere as soon as possible. The festival works so well due to the goodwill of the committee, groups, venues, volunteers, sound engineers, Falmouth Town Council and everyone else involved. A big thankyou to all the sponsors and businesses supporting the event and particularly Skinners Brewery and Seasalt Cornwall as the main sponsors. With such a mix of venues across the town, from the main stages at Events Square, Custom House Quay, the Moor and new for this year, the Falmouth Packet Stage on Prince of Wales Pier there really is something for everyone. If you are visiting for the first time enjoy the spectacle, and if you have been before then search out the wide variety of venues and don’t miss the parade through the town on the Saturday morning. Falmouth Weekly Market ‘Market on the Moor throughout the festival’
The Moor in Falmouth has been a market space for hundreds of years, a tradition which is still very much alive today thanks to the Falmouth Weekly Market. Held every Thursday and Saturday on The Moor, the local traders sell a fantastic range of products from barista coffee to original artwork and vintage clothing to fresh flowers. If you are interested in joining the market then please email Naomi Morant, Events and Marketing Coordinator: naomi@falmouth.co.uk
