Astrological Weather for June Inner Connections June begins with Messenger Planet Mercury still retrograde in his own sign Gemini. Notwithstanding glitches in plans and reflection on how we’re moving towards our goals, background focus and direction need to remain strong. Keep your eyes on the bigger vision of your life over the summer whilst navigating the movement of everyday concerns. It’s essential to anchor ourselves deeply in the presence required to ensure meaning in our lives. 2nd June: A fiery Full Moon in Sagittarius where the key theme is unearthing significance from recent relationship or contractual experiences. Black Moon Lilith in Virgo is opposing Chiron in Pisces at this Full Moon, opening victim concepts around success/failure to the potential of compassion. 5-11th June: A plethora of aspects electrify potential and the action required to engage it. It’s a busy week. The background of Neptune in Pisces moving retrograde opens veils of illusion, revealing previously unseen connections to soul purpose. 16th June: A talkative Gemini New Moon reveals disconnections to self and others, with an excess of nervous energy. The New Moon is the start of a new lunar cycle, usually a good time for reflection and focused intention yet this Gemini New Moon is social and talkative; overdoing it is a distinct possibility. With Mars conjunct the New Moon tensions are high. It’s certainly a time for sociability but the risk is quantity over quality. Choosing to slow down and listen at this time (to others and our selves) opens opportunities to enrich our experience by recognising where we become scattered. The potential is revelations about disconnection to self and in relating, and how we create them. At this New Moon Wise Elder Saturn is moving backwards into Scorpio, opening up a replay of themes from October 2012 December 14 around responsibility. Saturn is the planet governing the processes of maturity. During the period of his retrograde into transformative Scorpio (until 18th September) questions abound on how to live with greater integrity. Expect revelations, for what is hidden must be opened for deeper truth to embody. We’ll be travelling deep into the underworld during this time, to emerge with the gold we only find in Pluto’s kingdom. It’s the final chapter of an intense three-year process. 4

28th-30th June: Venus conjunct Jupiter, trine Uranus – a wonderful combination for reaping abundance but keep expectations realistic. Venus moves retrograde over these degrees in mid August and late September opening up unseen aspects within relationship, self-love and finances. Cassandra Eve is Whole Woman astrologer and creative facilitator. Call now to book your free 20 minute initial consultation.

Further info visit www.beingwholewoman.co.uk or call her on 07794 507076. Cassandra will be running the workshop advertised below at the Station Hotel Dudley. Limited places available.

Workshop Venue: Station Hotel, Castle Hill, Dudley, DY1 4RA Workshop Fee: £60 including refreshments

June Oracle Card Reading from Medium Gemma Garbett Hello everyone, I hope that you enjoyed May and all of the wondrous blessings it had to bring. For many it was a time of stepping out of your comfort zone and realising what you are here to offer the world. It also saw the start of the Mercury Retrograde, so computers went awry, phones stopped working and everyone seemed to take what you have said the wrong way, this is why. It does continue into this month too. The cards I am going to use for June are my Crystal Healing Cards. Being a Crystal Therapist as well as a medium, I love these cards, as I feel that they bring the two much closer together. There are four cards coming out for this month. The first is Amazonite. I love this crystal. It has varying shades of green and is related to the heart chakra. This card is asking you to clear up any communication difficulties that you may be having. There are going to be some times in the next week when your buttons are pressed, but just say what you mean and all will be well. The latter half of the mercury retrograde is also helping to clear up any communication problems too. The second card is Tiger’s Eye. This crystal is good for job interviews, confidence and for children who are starting school or nursery. Now, we all want to succeed in life but this is saying that if you play things safe and follow routines all of the time that you will not see the opportunities before your eyes. So June is the time to take some risks and say yes! It is also saying to keep your options open especially within your career and job prospects. The third card is Labradorite. This is the crystal that I use most. I love its energy and how it fends off negativity. This crystal is a lesson learner too, so if you are being negative it will show it up straight away. Again this card is asking to release any rigidity, as plans may change that will be for the good if you can see the positive in them. It is also a time for releasing and healing. This is a process that we constantly go through in life. Release, heal, move forward, so trust that this cycle is for your good and don’t fight it. The final card is Jade. Another beautiful crystal with links to the heart chakra. This card tells us that we will integrate all that we have learned this month in a very positive way. It will help us to trust our instincts and be aware of others and how we can help them. I say this a lot but trust is going to pay a huge part in how we move forward this month. So trust that what you are experiencing is what you are meant to be. It is a lovely month that will teach you a lot about the actions of others and about yourself. Have a wonderful few weeks. Love and blessings Gemma www.gemmagarbett.co.uk 7

Make Your Own Detox Drink for Daily Enjoyment & Cleansing Whether you’re just trying to steer clear of the sugary drinks, or aim to really help your body flush out any toxins lurking in your system, this refreshing blend of foods and flavors will satisfy your tastebuds needs. Why Watermelon (or cucumber): Watermelon helps the body flush out toxins because it contains the organic compound citrulline, which is an amino acid that has been shown to help the liver and kidneys filter and get rid of ammonia. Ammonia comes in external forms, but is also a by-product of the proteins our bodies are burning up constantly for energy, and it’s quite damaging to our cells. Cucumber also contains citrulline, but not as much as watermelon. Watermelon may also just give the liver an overall boost. Why water: H20 is just plain good for us, but it’s thought that it helps flush nasty toxins and waste through our system, giving organs like the liver and kidney an easier time doing their job. Why lemon (or lime): Lemon or lime juice helps stimulate and regulate the digestive track (which is why it’s so helpful with constipation, heartburn and gas), stimulates bile production, and thins out bile, which allows it to flow more freely. Bile is produced by the liver and ends up in the small intestine to break down lipids (fats) that we’ve consumed. Why mint leaves: Mint leaves are a nice refreshing flavor to add to your drink. On top of that, it can help you digest more effectively, improving the flow of bile from the liver, to the gallbladder, to the small intestine, where it breaks down dietary fats. Mint also helps relax cramped up stomach muscles. You will need… 1-2 liters’ of water, depending on how strong you want it to taste Part of 1 watermelon or 1 cucumber 1 lemon or lime A handful of fresh mint leaves (approximately 10-13) Ice cubes

Directions Slice up a good amount of watermelon into cubes, rind and all, and put them into a jug or pitcher. Cut 1 juicy lime into wedges and toss in with the watermelon. Add a handful of fresh, fragrant, mint leaves and pour in 2 litres of cool water, filling the jug all the way to the top. Let this sit overnight in the fridge and let all the yummy flavours steep and infuse the water. When you want to drink it, put in a generous helping of ice cubes, pour, and enjoy daily. 8

107 Everyday Uses for Coconut Oil There’s been a lot of hype about coconut oil lately, and there are so many claims being made that it sounds nothing short of a miracle. Well it’s really not a cure-all, and what works for other people may not work for you, but it still is pretty dandy to have around. With a little bit of resourcefulness and a dash of creativity, you can find over one hundred everyday uses for coconut oil. 1. Moisturize Your Skin: The very first thing on this list, before even delving into the “edible” benefits of coconut oil, has to be moisturizing. In lieu of your regular lotion, coconut oil delivers a refreshing, healing, burst of moisture that penetrates your skin and works to truly heal it (not just soak in and dry up!) It can feel oily at first, but that’s why it’s important to only use a little-it goes a long way. Give it a minute and it will dry beautifully. Use as you would regular lotion. 2. Conditioner: When the teeny tiny overlapping plates that make up our outer hair shaft get rumpled and out of whack, coconut oil is there to smooth those tiny little cells right back into place, and hold them there. You can use it on your entire scalp/head for deep conditioning, but you can generally just use it on your ends, where it’s the hardest for the body’s natural oils to reach, and where the most breakage occurs. 3. Make Homemade Soap: If you’re interested in soap making, coconut oil serves as a wonderful pure base that can simplify ingredients, add hardness to the soap, and help break down grease and oils. It can break them down so effectively, in fact, that too much will have a drying effect (when in soap form.) To prevent this, you need to “superfat” your soap-that is, adding more oil than the lye turns to soap. All you need is coconut oil, water, and lye. Don’t be shy of lye. While it should be handled with care, I find it essential to soap making, and it eliminates a slew of other chemicals that you would need to add to recreate its effects. 4. Weight Loss: Coconut oil and weight loss-what’s really going on? Well, if you sit around eating coconut oil, you aren’t going to lose weight. However, if used to substitute other fats, it can help you drop the pounds by taking the place of those other calories. Unlike most saturated fats, it’s mainly comprised of medium chain fatty acids, versus long chain fatty acids. This difference in molecular structure means that it doesn’t get packed away as fat as easily and instead is sent straight to the liver to be metabolized, giving you a boost in energy. This energy in turn makes exercising easier, and the exercise in turn helps you lose weight. Another major factor that it plays is as an appetite suppressant. Craving something you shouldn’t be? Have a tablespoon or 2 of coconut oil, and that sensation won’t last long!

5. Energy Booster: If weight loss isn’t your goal, just run with the fact (no pun intended) that it gives you a great boost in energy-and who doesn’t need some help in that department every now and again? Some people also feel it helps boost their mental alertness.

6. Itchy Dogs: My pup has atopic dermatitis, also known as the world’s worst allergies. He gets goopy eyes, scabby ears from scratching them too much, and will literally scratch himself raw and bloody without treatment. In addition to his daily care regime, he gets coconut oil. From the inside out, coconut oil can help nourish the dry, irritated, or inflamed skin that is the result of the inappropriate response to various allergens. It did not cure him of his allergies, though there are people who say it has gotten rid of their dog’s allergies completely, but it 10

PLEASE MENTION THIS DIRECTORY WHEN RESPONDING TO ANY OF OUR ADVERTS

does help reduce the itching. If your pup chews their paws and stains them red/pink/brown it can help in that department as well, as that is also a sign of allergies. Start with ½ teaspoon a day and work your way up to 1 tablespoon for 40+ pound dogs, and 1-2 teaspoons for dogs that weigh less. They usually go crazy for it! 7. Fungal Infections: The medium chain fatty acids found abundantly in coconut oil are incredibly effective natural fungicides. In a (coco)nut shell, they naturally insert themselves into the fungal membrane, which is crucial to maintaining the life of the fungus. This destruction of the membrane leads to the destruction of the fungus as a whole and voila! The fungus is eradicated. It is important to be diligent with applications of the coconut oil until your symptoms have cleared. 8. Cold Sores: Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus, generally type 1, and as such they have no cure. If you harken back to science class, you’ll recall that bacteria can be wiped out, while a virus cannot. So how can coconut oil possibly help? It doesn’t wipe out the virus, but it can inhibit its assembly and how it spreads. Coconut oil contains a substance known as lauric acid. When combined with glycerol, it creates a substance known as monolaurin. Studies done so far have shown that monolaurin affects the lipid envelope of the virus, and prevents the virus from reproducing how it normally would. In turn, it is not able to spread as efficiently and tends not to last as long. Apply a bit of coconut oil directly to the sore several times a day.
