G LIKE GELATO Summer has arrived and there’s no tastier way to cool down than with a gelato from G Like Gelato, Wimbledon’s new independent gelato store. It was founded in Italy in 2014 by a group of Italian professionals who wanted to export the excellence of the old Italian tradition of ‘gelato making’ to the rest of the world. The store is more like an Italian 4
kitchen and workshop where the produce is fresh and the gelato and cakes are prepared in front of customers. Take your pick from a great choice of flavours including salted caramel, fruit sorbets, pistachio or the Love Wimbledon team’s favourite – dark chocolate. POLKA THEATRE REDEVELOPMENT – REOPENS 2020 Polka is temporarily closed for a major redevelopment, reopening in Summer 2020. They first opened their doors in 1979 as the first theatre in the UK dedicated exclusively to children. Since then they have inspired and entertained over 3.5 million visitors and have established an international reputation for setting standards in children’s theatre. Now in their 40th year, they are re-imagining their unique space to include an extended Adventure Theatre, a new Creative Learning space, a multi-sensory garden, an expanded café and much more.
