Junior School at LCC

LCC’s Junior School is a nurturing environment where ideas, inspiration and stimulation abound. The first years of a child’s education are critical in establishing a love for learning and ensuring future success as a student. From kindergarten through grade 6, children are immersed in a bilingual academic program that allows them to explore their creativity, cultivate their imaginations and discover their potential. The focus is on building the foundations for lifelong learning through the ongoing development of critical thinking, communication, and social and self-management skills. Reading comprehension, writing structure and fostering creativity are priorities, as are the development of basic mathematical concepts and their application to real-life situational problems.

Understanding that each child’s learning path is unique, the teachers use research-based educational practices to cater to those differences with a variety of teaching approaches. In addition, learning strategists in our LEAD department (Learning Enrichment and Development) further support the neurodiverse learners in our community.

At the very heart of LCC’s philosophy is the creation of an atmosphere in which each child can thrive. The Junior School is designed to optimize the academic, social, emotional and physical development of the students.

Located in the south wing of the main building, the classroom spaces, two gyms, and dedicated science, music and art rooms are flooded with natural light and are equipped with furniture to optimize collaborative learning.

INNOVATION: WE ARE TRANSFORMING HOW OUR STUDENTS LEARN

The use of iPads and educational applications at every grade level helps strengthen skills and allows students to create while learning about online safety and digital citizenship.

Students enhance their organizational and research skills and, through our coding activities, learn how to effectively problem solve and develop logical thinking.

Students are introduced to our Centre for Discovery, a certified Fab Lab and space for design and innovation. They have access to 3D printers, among other tools and equipment.

As a global school, our aim is to promote understanding and learning of world cultures, expose students to different ways of thinking and living, and help them prepare for their role in an evolving global society.

We believe that all students should have access to an LCC education regardless of their financial circumstances and offer assistance to qualified students in grades 7–12 who have a demonstrated need.

ELIGIBILITY

English eligibility is not a requirement for admission to Kindergarten through Pre-University.
