Horseback Riding Lessons
Students will be introduced to horse basics and safety. They will learn how to approach their horse in its stall, put its halter on, groom, and saddle their horse. In addition, students will learn about basic horse and equipment care. Long pants and shoes with a heel are necessary for safety and comfort. Riding helmets are required and will be provided. Bring your toddler to the RecCenter the second Wednesday of each month for a surprise, fun filled activity involving arts and crafts, science, Legos, music, and games. Each session will offer a different activity with an emphasis on stimulating learning through involvement and socialization. Activities may include a take home project for ongoing enjoyment. Please register in advance.

Has your child ever asked why the leaves change color? When the seasons change plants and animals change as well. As summer gives way to fall and then winter, this class will examine all the different ways plants, animals and insects adapt to the cold. This workshop will highlight how to get started fishing, from putting your pole together, to casting, to being safe around the water. Participants will also learn how to make their own lures, how to clean a fish, and then get to fish. Ages 16 and up will need fishing licenses from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Participants are encouraged bring their own fishing gear, however, some materials will be provided. Creatures of the Night
Really Scary or just a myth? Let’s examine the scary animals associated with Halloween. We will determine what makes them scary and if we really should be afraid of them. Owl pellets will be dissected to see which creatures should be scared of owls. Please register by Oct. 5th to reserve an owl pellet.
