WHAT’S POPPIN, KEY CLUBBERS?! I hope you all had a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving break! First off, to those who attended this year’s Fall Rally South, I hope you all had a day filled with fun and spirit! Although we came short of winning that spirit stick, our amazing service, fundraising, and spirit did not go unnoticed as our division was able to buy SIX DISTRICT BOARD MEMBERS!! Even though Fall Rally is over, there is still plenty of things to look forward to in Key Club—service events, DCMs, Conclave, DCON, etc. As we go into this holiday season, I hope you all are taking time for yourselves amidst college applications and finals. See you all in the next newsletter, otters!! -Teresa Nguyen Hiyaaaaaotters!!!icannotbelieveitisalready december, winter season!!!!!beforeigettooexcited, let'stalkaboutnovember.wow, whata goodmonth.novemberwasfilledwithsomuchfunevents, includingour annualfallrally!!!ahhitmkaesmesohappyjustthinkingaboutit.hope everyonehasfunreadingthisnovembernewsletter, seeyounexttime! -kimberlynguyen

Walk to end Alzheimer's Walk to end Alzheimer's

A few things that I enjoyed the most about the Walk to End Alzheimer's were the number of people that showed up, the diversity of other clubs/schools (such as CSF, Girl's League, etc), the passion that all the walkers had, and the definitely the entire cause. To say it was a crowded event is an understatement. At 7 in the morning, the entire area was filled with volunteers and walkers! Most of the volunteers were assigned to cheer on the walkers with pom-poms and hold up motivational posters. But since there were so much people, some volunteers just walked around trying to find a job to keep them busy. Overall, it was a really fun event with an amazing cause that definitely showed me how passionate people could be.

Fall Rally Fall Rally

Fall Rally South 2022 was one of the most exciting and memorable experiences of my life! I loved every second of it, even waking up at the crack of dawn was super fun. I made so many new friends and created even more memories with friends I’ve already known and loved. And the cheer battle was so motivating and uplifting, I loved cheering on other divisions and showing off our spirit with our super cool personalized cheers. Even though we didn’t win first place, we still placed super high, and did such a great job together as a team/family. Although the lines for food and rides were crazy and I only ended up riding 2 rides, even then the experiences and atmosphere was so joyful and positive! Standing in all the lines should’ve been super boring but meeting all the key clubbers and shouting chants back in forth, singing loudly, and cracking jokes made everything so worth it. Overall, I am so glad that I went and got to experience FRS with our otters! I will for sure be going again next year!

11th

November DCM

On November 11th, I attended Division 4 North’s November DCM and Spirit Session. At this event, we had the DCM first. During the DCM, LTG Lina Tran recapped old events and shared new upcoming events. Afterwards, our division’s Member Recognition Julie Tran annouced member recognition for the month of November. After Lina concluded the DCM, the spirit committee began the last spirit session before Fall Rally South. Throughout the spirit session, we reviewed and polished all three of the long cheers. We even had a practice spirit battle between the members. Overall, I had a pleasant time at this month’s DCM. Despite the DCM being different than all of our previous ones, I think the anticipation of Fall Rally South made this DCM enjoyable nonetheless. In all, I had a great time and highly recommend others to attend the next DCM! -Teresa Nguyen. 1

Light the Night

I recently volunteered at the Light the Night event and had a great time! I went with my friends and I was so excited. I heard about this event last year and I was really looking forward to it. When we first got there we got our lanterns and walked around looking at the different booths. There were many different booths that were there giving out lots of free items. Since the walk didn’t start until 7, my friends and I wandered around and got some food at one of the food trucks. Once the walk had officially begun, everyone turned on their lanterns and it was such a nice view! All the lanterns lit up and looked so pretty next to each other. My friends and I walked around the stadium and once we were inside I was shocked. I had never been inside the Angels Stadium before so I was mesmerized. The stadium was huge and when we walked in we could see ourselves on the big screen. The air in there felt so nice and fresh. The walk was really nice and relaxing and I just got to enjoy some time with my friends. Overall, I had a really good time at the Light the Night event and I’m glad I helped to contribute to a good cause.

Thankfulness service week

This past week, our Division held a thankfulness service week competition with the other divisions all in division 4! For each day, there would be a specific service event that key clubbers could participate in. They ranged from online service events, to making cards for loved ones. I participated in Math Monday. For this event, members were able to use Unicef Math for Good. This website allowed people to complete a series of simple math questions to earn money for children in need! Although it was a simple task, a lot of work by just answering math questions contributed a lot to others in need and also helped them. Secondly, I was also able to send digital letters to children in the St. Jude Hospital through their website. There were various cards to choose from and I was able to write a small, but uplifting note to hopefully brighten someone's day! Overall, the service week was very fulfilling as members were able to give back to their community through simple activites.
