Thinking about Apprenticeships
"At Specsavers, we’re always looking to the future- which is where people like you come in. Our Apprenticeship scheme gives people of all ages the chance to boost their existing skillset and kickstart an exciting new career as part of a forward-thinking business, all whilst earning a full-time wage. We are currently looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about providing great customer service and would like to pursue a career in retail, management or optics. As well as being passionate and motivated in everything you do, it’s important that you’re also a great listener and communicator – as that’s what excellent service is all about.
In addition to having great communication skills, you’ll also be a team player and have a real passion for making a difference, both in your development and within the business. Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. At the end of your year as an apprentice, you’ll be a fullyfledged Level 2 Optical Assistant."

ACCOUNT More Than Counting and
ANCY, Calculators!
An introduction to Price Bailey Lewis Bailey, Recruitment Manager
Price Bailey has come a long way since it’s establishment over 80 years ago when Stanley Price and Reginald Bailey, two independent practitioners, merged their existing businesses. Little did they know that the following year, the country would be facing World War II – needless to say adapting to change and moving with the times is in our DNA. Since then, we have grown to become one of the top 30 UK accountancy practices with offices across East Anglia, London and overseas. The key to this success has been providing a truly exceptional service by taking the time to really understand our clients’ needs so that we can become not only the best accountants we can be, but to become an extension of their business too.
progressing in the world of business, then starting your career in accountancy can give you a fantastic grounding - it’s no coincidence that the 1 in 4 CEOs of the world’s largest companies are qualified accountants! How do I get started? As a firm, we always push to recruit from the bottom - over half of our board members started at Price Bailey as a fresh trainee before progressing to where they are now. As a result, we have a very well established early careers programme targeted towards A Level/College leavers and graduates. We put such an emphasis on this that we actually won an award for The best Graduate and Non-Graduate Programme of the year’ in the British Accountancy Awards. In joining Price Bailey through the apprenticeship route, you will receive a fullyfunded training package which involves comprehensive study support throughout
"Modern-day accountancy is as So what does Price much about the Bailey actually do? Well, the answer to that is not people as it is about a short one. A common misconception about the numbers" accountancy is that all it involves is maths
and
calculators, this couldn’t be further from the truth though. Modern-day accountancy is as much about the people as it is about the numbers. Whether it’s networking with peers, meeting with potential and future clients or managing the acquisition of another business, no two days are ever the same As a firm, we provide services across tax, audit, corporate finance, forensic accounting, insolvency and recovery and statutory accounting, to name just a few. When considering what your first step on the career ladder will be, it’s more important than ever to think about where that could take you in the future. If you’re passionate about
your accountancy qualifications plus a full-time salary on top. As an A Level/College leaver (or equivalent), our Level 4 apprenticeship will see you study the AAT, ATT or CFAB qualification before progressing to the ACA qualification. Our tried and tested buddy system will see you paired up with a newly qualified accountant who has been in your exact situation and can act as your mentor throughout your training. We do all we can to help and support you, not only throughout your training but post-qualification as well. We want to see you reach your potential as soon as possible. What is the culture like at Price Bailey? As a Times Top 100 Employer, we pride ourselves on fostering a work environment where people can grow and thrive alongside our clients. We combine opportunities with challenges, working in an award-winning and high performing workplace that draws on the very best in training and real-world experience. Our ethos has, and always will be, that happy employees make for happy clients, and this mentality has been key to our success since we were established all those years ago. Our Managing Director, Martin Clapson, very much appreciates that happiness in a role extends far beyond what can be found on a job description. As a result, we have policies such as Smart Working which empowers our employees to take control of their working week. Flexibility is paramount meaning every single employee can properly manage their work and personal commitments. Gone are the days of needing to be suited and booted every day too; instead we opt for a smart-casual dress code whilst in the office – jeans or chinos will do nicely!
Coupled with policies like these which are designed solely to make work more enjoyable, we also have numerous social events on a regular basis. Our annual charity day sees the whole firm shut up shop for the day, and instead, we get involved in all sorts of fundraising events. In recent years, we’ve seen treasure hunts, bake sales sponsored skydives, climbing Kilimanjaro, London to Paris bike rides and many more!
Next steps Price Bailey’s success is solely down to the invaluable contributions made by the employees at all levels. Although we are doing incredibly well and still growing, we are always looking for new ideas and improvements. If you are looking to join a company that can not only provide unrivalled career opportunities, but one in which your opinions, views and perspective are genuinely valued then Price Bailey could be the firm for you. We are currently taking applications for our A level/college leaver (or equivalent) programme so for more information, and to make an application, please visit our Careers Website or email our Recruitment Manager Lewis Bailey at lewis.bailey@pricebailey.co.uk
