Khang Vu Mansfield Lake Ridge High School Division 39 South Attribution to the Resolution Prior to me joining Key Club, I knew I needed to contribute to my community. With the advice of my cousin to join Key Club would result in one of my best decisions in life. Though I am content about where I am right now in the Lake Ridge Key Club, I still have more resolutions that I am willing to accomplish to drive me for a better future-self. To start, I want to help my teachers more for Key Club individual hours because as much students need support from teachers, teachers just need as much assistance too. Teachers go under through pressure and stress like students do, so since my teachers contribute to my success, this gave me the idea that I should help them too under the title of a Key Club member. With less strain against my teacher due to my volunteering, my teachers will be able to persevere and gain motivation for their students and the rest of their year (and paycheck I guess). Though volunteering for my teachers requires time and energy, knowing that I can develop stronger chemistry between the teacher and I, enhance my loyalty towards the Key Club organization, and that I am building a better community is what continues to drive me to help my members of my school and community.

In addition to me wanting to volunteer for my teachers, another resolution of mine is to generally put more effort into Key Club. As of right now in my sophomore year, I sometimes put too much time towards academics and grades rather than my community service.

Sometimes, academics aren’t the most important aspect towards success; in fact, in some cases, you don’t need high quality grades to reach success. I understand that in a pandemic it is harder to find places to volunteer; however, that does not mean it gives me an excuse to contribute to volunteering less often. With Key Club not being at its fullest potential due to COVID, it is still possible, necessary, and an obligation for me to benefit the organization even if I am not a board member (or will I?).
In conclusion, it is my responsibility to be willing to volunteer for my teachers and putting more effort into Key Club in general will drive me to being a better individual.
These resolutions may eventually lead me to becoming more influential among other Key Club members or even high school students.

HUMANS OF TEXAS-OKLAHOMA
Ethan Clark
Key Club has led me down a phenomenal path of service, cooperation, friendship, and leadership, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. My name is Ethan Clark, and I am a Junior at Lake Ridge High School, and the current Vice President of the Key Club there. I first joined Key Club as a sophomore, and that same year I ran for the position of sophomore representative, and got elected. It all started sophomore year; a year of fun, homework, and the middle of high school - a natural transition period between lower and upperclassmen. That year I found out about Key Club, and due to prior volunteer experience in Boy Scouts and at Church, I knew the joys of volunteering and the leadership it brings. So, throughout my Key Club journey, these things were highlighted, improved, and added on to! Key Club was different than prior volunteering; however, it brought a club of young men and women, around the same age together, with the sole purpose of volunteering and growing closer together through this service. Key Club introduced to me many many great friends, friends that I know I will never forget, ones that I will always keep in contact with.
I learned to cooperate with others in a volunteer environment even better, and my skills of leadership and management were improved. I’ve learned how to cooperate with a leadership team, communicate effectively, and manage large groups of people to coordinate a volunteering event. I’ve always been a leader, so joining Key Club, and being able to lead others and the community via service, not only put me in a position where I am most comfortable, but it also led me out of my comfort zone many many times; putting me into unfamiliar situations of leadership, which ultimately helped me grow. I learned about many world issues through Key Club, such as the crisis of a high amount of orphans in Eastern Russia, which we help through Allies in Youth, and I became more informed overall of what I can personally do to help make the community and the world a better place. All you it takes to make a difference, is one small action, which sets off a chain reaction of other great actions. That realization came to me from Key Club, as I saw that volunteering, for a short time, makes a big difference, and lights a spark that keeps on burning. Key Club has done so much for me, and I wouldn’t trade one second of being a member and an officer!
