"fall

ING" in love with Key Club

FEATURED ARTICLE BY MADISON NGUYEN

I joined Key Club at the beginning of my freshman year, not expecting it to impact me at all. However, that thought changed as I saw the effect we made and the strong sense of community. Even though I am in many other clubs, none have affected me as much as Key Club has. Throughout my experience, I have grown to love Key Club. One of my favorite things about Key Club is the strong sense of community. I am always excited to attend the meetings because of the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whenever you walk into the library, you see everyone talking and having a good time. They are all meeting new people, and they are all coming together for the same reason: to volunteer and help the community. I was able to meet many people that I would not have without Key Club, and I will always be grateful for that. As much as I love attending the meetings, they do not compare to the actual volunteering events. Just seeing everyone working together to help others, always puts a smile on my face. My favorite and most memorable event will

always be my first one. I first felt an attachment to Key Club when I attended my first in-person volunteering event at Elmer Oliver Nature Park. That day, I was worried since this was my first event, and I was not sure how it was going to go. However, my worries quickly melted away within a few minutes. While I was picking up trash, I was able to talk to and connect with the other club members. The atmosphere was very friendly, and I was able to feel like I belonged. I was genuinely enjoying cleaning up the park even though it was hard work in hot weather, there was not a moment where it was bothersome. Not only that, but we could see the impact that we were making. By the end of the day, we had many bags full of trash, and the park looked significantly different. This experience gave me a positive outlook on the club, and it was not only because of the kind smiles of gratitude that we got for cleaning the park. As I volunteer more, I never lost the feeling of joy that I had when I first joined. As I continue my journey throughout the rest of high school, I cannot wait to see how much more my bond will grow. .

Lake Ridge Key Club's officers and members decorated a wagon with full of pencil boxes, bags, and notebook donations at the Homecoming parade. The theme was "Travel Around the World".
