a word from tbe EDITOR Hello Key Clubbers! As summer draws to a close and we all begin to prepare for the school year, it may be a challenge for us to diversify our day-to-day routines. But with all the activities our board has planned for the upcoming year, our club is in for even more opportunities to serve and make life lasting memories. The lineup of events and activities we have is sure to make an impact on our school and surrounding community. So as we welcome in new members and reminisce on the moments we share with those from the past, I have no doubt that our club is ready to go out into the world and make a difference, whether it may be raising funds for a nonprofit or simply giving someone a smile, the choices we make now have the potential to impact so many. Continue to serve with heart. With Love & Service, Gilliana

PARTNERING WITH ALLIES Every Sunday, our members volunteer with Allies in Youth Development, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to aid orphans in Eastern Europe by providing them with "human connections, life skills, and a pathway to education."

Key Clubbers help sort and package clothes and other necessities into boxes that will then be shipped to countries and regions such as Moldova, Southern Ossetia, and Krasnodar where these orphans are truly in need.

a word from tbe EDITOR Hello Key Clubbers! I hope your summer '19 has been everything you have hoped it would be— whether that may be racking up on service hours, studying for the SAT, or relaxing on a tropical vacation. Whatever your summer may consist of, I hope it is full of activities that you love. Speaking of activities, prepare yourselves for the month of June because we have lots in store! Be on the lookout for incoming socials (especially for you boba lovers!) and more. As always, if you have yet to sign up for our remind, it will be on the contact information page at the end of the newsletter. A SEUSS SUMMER BY: ETHAN VU, JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE

School’s about halfway here and summer’s been pretty great with hanging out with friends, watching TV all day, and of course, volunteering! Over the course of summer, you can take part in the many service projects Key Club has to offer such as helping starving children to packing up supply kits for the less fortunate. There’s also various summer camps provided by Oliver Nature Park which helps kids learn and interact with the environment around them; and through Key Club, there’s so much more! Alongside giving back to the community, Key Club also hosts many District Council Meetings, or DCM’s, depending on which district your Key Club is a part of. These meetings can range from doing service projects with Key Clubs around your district to just having a good and getting to learn more about your fellow Key Clubbers! Towards the end of the month, I had the opportunity to be able to go to our Key Club’s Regional Training Conference which was a Meeting with several Key Clubs from several other districts. The meeting was held at Cleburne High School from 10 AM-3 PM on July 20th. The meeting started out with the clubs all gathered in the stairwell main lobby waiting on instructions from our Lieutenant

Governors and Kiwanians. Then, our group played a few rounds of icebreakers in order to meet some of the other clubs around the region. Next, we all broke up into smaller groups based on which training we would go to. For example, President training, Vice President training, etc. Later on, we all gathered for lunch where we all had to sit with other members not from our own school. Then, we ended off the day going to one last forum in order to learn about new service projects, meet our KFamily, or learn about anything Key Club in general! Lastly, we ended our Regional Training Conference by having a District Council Meeting with each of our respective districts. All in all, the Regional Training Conference was an amazing experience because it has allowed me to become even closer to Key Club than I have ever before. Sure, we all gather and meet up at DCON, or the District Convention, but we all don’t always stay connected that way. By having conferences like this, it allows us to stay connected and meet those that we’ve never met before! I can say that it was definitely worth the time, and long drive, going to the conference because it’s allowed me to keep in contact with our fellow Key Clubs, learn more about my position in Key Club and how to keep our club properly function, and learn more about service projects in order to help those in need around our community and around the world!
