An authentic project story must be full of purpose – so too should every stroke of the pen or click of a mouse. A rigorous approach calls us to intentionality, constantly testing decisions, moves, and details against the original story; seeking a legible response that leaves us without questions. It encompasses the full scope of design, from initial site orientation to smallest details. Each decision is done purposefully, in an effort, to strengthen our narrative.

Collaboration is imperative. A great design can fall flat or the narrative could be left unfinished with a lack in the details. Rigor finds itself in the details – at the hand scale. A rigorous approach creates space in the process to properly coordinate all building trades, landscape, MEP, structural, etc. As it is the job of the architect to clearly craft the project’s narrative, it is also their responsibility to clearly establish the framework for the consultants as well as the construction trades.
