April 2010 Volume Nineteen Number 8
Dear Parents and Guardians, Alleluia! The Resurrection of Jesus provides us with an entirely different perspective on our lives. We are the people of hope. We believe in an after-life and live this life differently as a result of this faith. Please join me in celebrating this momentous event in our Christian history. May the days of Easter (and spring) be filled with moments of new life made possible through Christ’s rising from the dead. Spring seems like a well earned season. After the winter that we have experienced, it is good to finally hear birds and see children playing and enjoying the sunshine. Our school fields are busy every afternoon with practices and games. Our campus is once again filled with excitement and cheerful voices. Special congratulations to our winter teams and coaches for providing us with another exciting season. The successes of the last three months drew many fans to our games. Wrestling and Swimming repeated as both Philadelphian Catholic League and District 12 Champions, while Hockey fell just short of a third consecutive Flyers Cup. Basketball proved to be a wonderful surprise by finishing first in the Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division and winning the District 12 (City) Championship. Their run in the PIAA State Tournament provided additional excitement. Bowling and Indoor Track continued to improve and their seasons featured several great performances. I would like to thank all of our athletes and coaches for spreading fame and providing us with much to celebrate. Our faculty and students are likewise making some adjustments to a revised schedule due to snow holidays. We narrowly avoided another holiday on Monday, March 15, 2010 due to power outages caused by wind and rain. The power was restored 45 minutes prior to our having to make a decision; however, I express my empathy for those who had to endure the power outage over the weekend. Enrollment and re-registration for next year is very good. La Salle is most appreciative of the sacrifice you are willing to make for your son’s education. It is my hope that our students will not disappoint you and frequently express their appreciation for your sacrifice in providing them with a value-driven education. As the end-of-year events begin to unfold, I hope to see many of you at games, performances, and social events. La Salle continues to be a very active place, which requires a commitment of both students and their families on many levels. Your presence and support are key to our success as well as meaningful to your sons. Enjoy all the blessings of yet another spring. May flowers and wonderful sounds fill each moment of your day. Sincerely yours,
Brother Richard Kestler, FSC ’60 President
Happy Easter!
