Academic EXCELLENCE

• Seventeen students in the Class of 2013 were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation – 10 National Merit Semifinalists – 7 National Merit Commended Students • Class of 2013 – 99% of the Class of 2012 is continuing formal education at 97 colleges and universities in 22 different states – The Class of 2013 was accepted into 204 colleges and universities in 34 states and one international universities – Collectively earned over $32 million in documented Scholarships and Grants – 75% of the Class of 2013 earned Merit-Based and/or Athletic Scholarships • 178 members of the National Honor Society • 32% of the Class of 2013 earned the recognition as an AP Scholar at some level (Scholar, Scholar with Honor, or a Scholar with Distinction) • 142 AP scholars, including nine National Scholars • 19 Advanced Placement Courses offered • 290 students took 661 AP exams in 2013 – 91% scored at least one score of 3 or better (recommended grade for college) – 87% of the tests taken scored 3 or higher • Over 150 academic courses

Commitment TO SERVICE

• 24 voluntary community service projects • Service conducted seven days a week • Local, national and international summer service opportunities – over 272 students, which represents over 40% of the upperclassmen, along with 27 faculty members participated in summer service experiences in Philadelphia, Bolivia, Saint Lucia, Arizona, Louisiana, Montana, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, West Virginia, and California • Innovative Father/Son Branch-Out Day service program for freshmen along with their fathers • Thanksgiving Food Drive collected over 10,000 non-perishable cans of food • Secret Santa Raised in excess of $16,000 and purchased over 900 gifts for the oncology and hematology patients at Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children – Over sixty students and ten faculty members delivered gifts on Christmas Eve • Through “La Salle Responds” the school community raised over $30,000 to benefit over thirty different charities

• La Salle College High School graduates accept responsibility for their own education and actions and, in the spirit of Christian gentlemen, treat people with respect • World-Wide Network of Lasallian Schools • 33% of student body receives financial aid – Alumni, Parents and Faculty contribute to this amount – Student Emergency Fund funded by faculty – Men of La Salle Scholarships for current students who have lost a parent • Over 14,000 active alumni – sponsor Career Day and career exploration excursions in New York City • Father/Son service project benefitting Saint Vincent’s Soup Kitchen

EXTRACURRICULARS

• Art Department hosts a Poor Man’s Supper to benefit Face-To-Face • Various athletic team service projects • Student sponsored activities benefitting families who are battling cancer • SpeakUp, a student sponsored program, held in coordination with faculty, staff, and two local all-girl high schools, promotes effective communication between parents and students • Academic support centers, Counselor support, mentor and tutoring programs • Campus Ministry – School-wide student planned liturgies and along with morning Advent and Lenten Prayer Services – Four-Year retreat program, culminating in the four-day Kairos retreat during senior year – Three campus ministers and a school chaplain

• Athletics – 2012-2013 Pennsylvania State Champions in Lacrosse and Swimming – 2012-2013 Philadelphia Catholic League Champions in Baseball, Football, Golf, Indoor Track, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, and Wrestling – 2012-2013 PIAA District 12 (City) Champions in Baseball, Football, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Field, and Wrestling – 2012-2013 Flyers Cup Hockey Champions – 2012-2013 placed second in the Pennsylvania State Championship in Hockey – Distance Medley Relay Team won the Penn Relays Championship of America and ran the fastest winning time at Penn Relays since 2005 and the second best time in America. – 55 athletes were recruited to participate in athletics by a college or university – twelve sports at thirty-five different colleges and universities from Maine to California – twelve students were named as High School All-Americans and captured 25 All-American Athletic Certifications in two different sports – Teacher-Coach Model with thirteen of the eightteen teams coached by teachers at La Salle and over forty teachers involved in La Salle’s athletic program – 60% of students involved in athletics


• Fine Arts – Over 250 students are actively involved the school’s Music Program – Eleven performing bands and three choral groups – Competition Band received superior ratings in all five area jazz competitions in 2012 – Outstanding Soloist Award was earned by a La Salle musician at each competition in 2013 – Overall Champion of the Cavalcade of Band Competition – Received a rating of “Superior With Honors” at all five area jazz competitions in 2013 – Outstanding Soloist Award was earned by a La Salle musician at each competition – Awarded as Best Trumpet Section and Best Sight Reading – Two band concerts and two choral concerts are held each year – 26% students participate in the Art Program – Arts Festival held each May highlights student work in painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics – Students exhibited artwork at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Montgomery County Community College, and the Archdiocesan Art Show • Activities – over 60 clubs and organizations many with award winning accomplishments – over 70% of the students are involved in one or more activity or club – Recognized as a Debate School of Excellence by the National Forensics League – 2012-2013 Philadelphia Catholic Forensics League Champions – 2012-2013 Pennsylvania High School Speech League District 11 Champions – Named as one of the Top 5 Debate Schools Nationally at the National Catholic Forensic League Championships – Named Top Debate School in Eastern Pennsylvania – Mathletes won the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship – Engineering Club is conducting a Renewable Energy Study, which studies the feasibility of installing wind and solar generation equipment at La Salle – Publications include the Wisterian (school newspaper), Blue and Gold (yearbook), and Gazebo (school literary magazine) – Theater Program produces a drama each fall and a musical in the spring – the 2012-2013 school year featured Barefoot In The Park and the highly-acclamed Swing!

• Technology – Completely wireless campus enhanced by Gigabit fiber optic backbone connecting all classrooms and offices – Thirty-five state-of-the-art Windows 2008 R2 servers, including dedicated space for student accounts and files – A T3 dedicated Internet circuit that offers Students 90MB of in and out bandwidth with Nehalem Xeon Servers – First school in the nation to fully implement Microsoft Exchange 2010 – TV production and broadcast studio with editing equipment and operating systems for live programs and taped productions – Four computer labs with over 150 Nehalen i7 workstations, Windows 7 Desktops, and access to the complete Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus Package – Multimedia Lab with over eighty workstations for student and faculty teaching and production, including scanners, laser printers, and CD/DVD Burners – Outstanding library and media center with capability for thirty-four online reference programs – Computer Lab Internship Program for qualified students who have achieved Microsoft certification(s) – 90 students received certification during 2012-13 at what is the only Level One Microsoft IT Academy in the State of Pennsylvania – All fifty-seven instructional areas ar equipped with a SMART Board, HD projection TV, DVD, and high-performance sound system - Only school in the world to be invited by Microsoft to participate in a four-year pilot program and one-to-one initiative whereby each student in the Class of 2017 was issued a Microsoft RT Surface.

• Music Facilities – La Salle’s excellent music facilities include an ensemble practice room large enough to house our largest performing groups. A choral room, space for instrumental instruction, multiple practice rooms, and a digital music lab round out a facility that can accommodate the almost three hundred students involved in La Salle’s highly acclaimed music program. • Athletic Facilities – La Salle has been blessed with extensive athletic facilities, which include a main gym, auxiliary gym for wrestling and other athletic activities, a fitness center with a full-time Strength and Conditioning Instructor, an erg room for rowing, indoor and outdoor pools, six-lane track, five tennis courts, nine athletic fields, a walking trail, and a boathouse located on historic Boathouse Row. • Guidance and Counseling Centers – College Counseling, Class Level Counseling, Academic Support, and the David Program
