Due to a significant rise in property prices, the state government will increase, in this month’s budget, the price cap of their First Home Buyers Grant (new home) scheme from $650,000 to $750,000. The grant of $15,000 applies to newly constructed and off the plan sales. While new homes in the Hornsby Shire will generally be above this limit it should provide buyers with more options when purchasing townhouses and apartments. To be eligible for the grant you must live in the home for a continuous period of at least 6 months.
