Mirvac spokesman Matthew Wallace said that of the five Pier display apartments and
first Park display apartment, the jewel in the crown was the $8.75 million Riverhouse on level one in first stage Pier. This ‘super apartment’ comprises four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, two living areas, a study, a four car private garage, exclusive private swimming pool, full home automation featuring electric blinds, lighting, music and security. It also has a private lobby, climate controlled cellar, lavish kitchen with butler’s pantry, Miele appliances and features natural stone and timber. “The Riverhouse is surrounded on three sides by water and actually appears to float over the water,” he said.
“There isn’t another riverfront apartment like it in Brisbane – it’s really something quite unique.” The apartments on display at Waterfront Newstead include the Pier Riverhouse, Pier penthouse 650 on the market for $6.875m, Pier apartment 512 priced at $2.5m, Pier apartment 1041 priced at $2.6m Pier apartment 421 priced at $3.35m and finally Park apartment 14 priced at $1.27m. Mr Wallace said the five individual Pier apartments provided a wide variety for the prospective apartment buying public to consider. “All of our apartments in Pier are of a

premium quality in terms of finishes and fittings,” he said. “However a lot of work went into making sure the apartments were unique in terms of floorplans and finishes and not simply more of the same. “Our Pier purchasers want properties that are individual and personal to them and the five displays on offer simply present the wonderful alternatives that exist in the project. “The Riverhouse and penthouse 650 represent the largest and most expensive apartments available whilst 512, 1041 and 421 represent everything from the entry level apartments to our unique courtyard apartments perfectly suited to entertainers.” Penthouse 650 is situated on level five of Pier South and comprises four bedrooms, two living areas and a study. two living areas, 2.5 bathrooms and is 250 square metres in size. Apartment 512 is located on level one in Pier South, features three bedrooms and one living area and is 291 square metres in size. It is a courtyard style apartment and boasts two outdoor entertainment areas plus uninterrupted river and lake views. Apartment 1041 in located on level four in Pier North and has three bedrooms, two living areas, 2.5 bathrooms and two carparks. It is 266 square metres in size. The latest display apartment to be delivered is a three bedroom, single living apartment on level five of the Park apartments, the second project stage at Waterfront. Park is set for completion this winter and this new display will provide a further alternative but also a wonderful example of the lifestyle that is on offer in this emerging precinct. In recent months there have been in excess of $4 million in sales finalized in Park and now all the one bedroom apartments have been sold. There are a
limited number of two and three bedroom apartments remaining. Current there is also a leasing campaign underway for a number of retail tenancies on ground level underneath Park and overlooking the parkland which is a feature of Waterfront Newstead. These tenancies could include a restaurant, a deli, a wine cellars, a coffee shop or a gourmet bakery and it is expected that they will be leased in the near future. Mr Wallace said Waterfront Newstead was virtually a new Brisbane suburb in the making. “Because we have a little more than 10 hectares of land and more than 300 metres of river frontage we have been able to plan a wide variety of apartment styles which will appeal to all sectors of the apartment buying market,” he said. “The apartment displays epitomise the style and standard of living that is offered in such an upmarket residential environment. “Anyone considering apartment living should not make a decision until they have viewed these display apartments. Their location at Waterfront, Newstead is unlike any other address in Brisbane. Perhaps the perfect glass of wine in a restaurant perched on a second story as the sun sets, watching the evening below awaken? Yes please. With the tropical summer rains truly taking hold the past few seasons, nothing brightens the soul like a bottle of 2000 De Bortoli Noble One desert wine when paired with lychee sorbet or almond tart with fresh berries and mascarpone. The De Bortoli Noble One is one of Australia's most awarded wines and with good reason. This wine is beautifully layered and textured with bursts of apricot and quince accompanied by a beautiful base tone of vanillin oak. This wine could be a desert in its self and with melts perfectly into any occasion. Ducati's flagship: the full story We’ve got a new contender in the superbike horsepower wars... Brett Hales is granted access to a first look at the 1199 Panigale

011 was a year to forget for Ducati in MotoGP. The Ducati MotoGP Desmosedici bike was inconsistent and frightening to ride at the edge. It was only three years ago that Casey Stoner was winning races with ease and Ducati was unbeatable in straight line speed. Those days are long gone. The field caught up with technology advancements with a host of new riders eager to showcase their talents. This made for a wealth of competition in the sport and a group of riders that could take out a race on any given day. Even the nine-time
World Champion, Valentino Rossi, who moved from Yamaha to Ducati in 2011 and struggled immediately with his confidence in tyre grip and chassis. It seemed 2011 was full of promise with two proven champions riding together, a Pit Crew Chief in Jeremy Burgess that has won more championships than any other and a bike that was at the head of the field only a few years ago. In the media, the blame was placed on bike rather than riders, more specifically the carbon fibre, monocoque frame which they have now replaced with a more
conventional and adjustable aluminium alloy frame. This was to be the year that Ducati reclaimed the throne in the sport of the crazy and daring; but it wasn't to be. What really happened was a year full of set-backs, internal fighting and a bike that wasn't progressing forward with tests for different setups whilst the other teams like Yamaha and Honda were beating them convincingly. It was a year to forget for Ducati with only a handful of podium finishes and no wins. However, 2012 is upon us and there appears to be a change in the winds in Bologna where Ducati is made.

What made things even worse is that Ducati have controversially chosen to stop support for the World Superbike Championship and withdrawn the factory bike's leaving only the satellite that Ducati's currently competing with. The move was a bold one since Ducati dominated the World Superbike title in 2011 when Carlos Checa finally produced results to match his undeniable talent. It does show more commitment to the MotoGP team and more focus on production models. On the track, Ducati have been working hard throughout the winter testing on the Desmosedici with initial outcomes having been very positive. Naturally the bike is quicker since the new rules in MotoGP allow the manufacturer to go from 800cc to 1000cc. Also, developments have started on the new seamless clutch gearboxes that allow more rapid gear changes and weigh significantly less then previous gearboxes. Other advancements in electronics, ABS brakes, carbon fibre, aluminium frame and chassis design is improving the bike's character and all this is making for an exciting 2012 MotoGP season. One might think that all this new and developed technology for the Ducati was only going to the Desmosedici race bikes and future replicas but Ducati have unleashed the style and chic to create a stunning masterpiece that we will see on the streets in the next few months. It is unfathomable to think how Ducati could improve on the outright style and street creditability of the current 1198 RR. Well they have and it is in the form of the 1199 Panigale. Ducati motorbikes have always had sex appeal but this is something else. In the recent EICMA International Motorcycle show in Milan, the Panigale was convincingly voted the "Most beautiful bike of show", attracting a massive 53.4% of the votes and it is not hard to see why. The bike is a design marvel from every aspect and an instant classic in motorcycling heritage. It is not just the style that has come
along way, but under the body, everything has been totally redesigned and improved. Reading the specifications for the bike will send an instant shiver down your spine. The bike has a mind-boggling 143KW at an insane 10,750RPM which is a little character building for a rider. The 1199 is 15Kg's lighter than the previous 1198 (Panigale is 188Kg's kerb weight) thanks to aluminium chassis, a fair amount of carbon fibre and magnesium alloy casting covers, cylinder heads and oil pan. The bike has 25HP more grunt too which makes it the most powerful V-twin superbike currently on the market. Ride-by-wire technology has made it's way over to the bike world and Ducati has taken to this producing great throttle response and smoother acceleration. It also sounds like a raging inferno which makes you wonder if the thing is burning fuel or felines. The dash on Ducati's have always been a step ahead of the competition but the Panigale 1199 has pushed the gap even further. It is clean, futuristic and most importantly, easy to read no matter which weather condition you are riding. With the authorities going overboard with speed camera's in recent years, you wont be donating money to the government in sums of old. A new edition to bikes are the use of LED headlights which Ducati have taken to like a duck to water. Too often, LED light's look like after market add-on fitted in the home 'workshop' but the Panigale's are integrated and bring a unique aggressiveness to the front end. The underfloor exhaust gives the bike more balance and makes it a precision cornering monster. It is also the first production sports bike to have electronically adjustable suspension. This is exaggerated by wider bars and more front loaded weigh design producing ample grip around the twisty bits. Australia's multiple WSBK Champion, Troy Bayliss jumped on-board the Panigale and posted a second quicker lap time on this bike around Mugello than on his
2008 WSBK winning Ducati, which he immediately tweeted to his avid followers, "...in street form, nothing will come close". The main competitors on the Panigale are BMW's 1000 RR, Aprilia RSV 4 and the MV Agusta F4 RR. All are razor-sharp, cutting edge street weapons with the but commendable credentials but BMW is leading in global sales. Although a sales war against BMW for the upmarket bike still rages on and a forgettable 2011 MotoGP campaign behind them, the Ducati brand is looking increasingly positive with a new weapon in their arsenal for the adrenaline seeking enthusiasts.

he burgeoning world of high end cycling and the equipment that accompanies it is ever present in the streets of early morning Brisbane. With the latest offering from the specialist Italian firm Pinarello just landed, we discover exactly where your $17,499 goes and why you absolutely must have it. The Dogma 2 is the pinnacle of Pinarello’s lineup; the exact bike Sky professional racing team is riding this year. Within that team, Mark Cavendish – arguably the fastest man to have ever donned the saddle of a bike. So what is it that makes this bike the choice of not only the fastest man in the world but in such demand that retailers can hardly keep up with enquiry? Pinarello says they’ve taken the asymmetry to new levels with the Dogma 2, stating one big change is in the top tube. It’s been moved slightly off-center towards the right side of the bike to further the effort towards equilibrium. In addition to this, Pinarello addressed another area for potential improvement – the aerodynamics and stiffness of the front end of the bike. The result for the end user is a 19% boost in front end stiffness to give you more predictable braking and a more precise steering frame. In an effort to enhance
the physical beauty of the machine, Pinarello have run all cabling internally which in combination with other minor adjustments, make for an a substantial 6% improvement in the aerodynamic efficiency of the frame. The carbon fiber
used has been built to withstand 60 tons per square inch, the strongest ever to be used in a Pinarello. Only when you are close enough to touch it are you able to discern the subtle differences to the previous Dogma model and are an astonishing feat to the truly afflicted. The preceding particulars will be duly noted to the avid racer, however with a substantial improvement to comfort and to the sheer speed available, enhancing the performance of even the most novice rider will also be evident.
