Our first instinct was to just call it a season as the pandemic raged into our fishing schedule, driving uncertainty and constant rescheduling ahead of it. Amazonas suffered deeply, our fisheries closed and travel became impossible. It was hard to imagine we would find a way to put all of our fishing operation’s complex moving parts back together. But we’re not the ones to cut and run. We found the strength to prevail for three important reasons: Our commitment to our clients; the needs of our employees; and the indigenous tribes who depend on our partnership. Our team made it happen. A whole series of challenges had to resolve themselves simultaneously, and somehow they did. The airlines began to fly again; Amazonas dramatically reduced infections, fisheries reopened, tourist resources were refitted for safety and we implemented the Cleveland Clinic’s health protocols for COVID-19. Although it was a short season, it was an excellent one, with a full complement of extraordinary trophy peacock bass and a broad array of the Amazon’s exotic giant species. We have the pictures to prove it! Now, we’re ready to return in full force for 2021/2022. Humans are regaining control of their lives. We want to hug each other again. We want to turn our masks into drink coasters and we want to do the things that bring joy, excitement and satisfaction into our lives — and that includes the all-inclusive fishing, traveling and adventuring trips that Acute Angling does better than anyone else. Our schedule is filling fast, and our trips are booking full even though we don’t have the outdoor shows that we’re all used to as a forum to meet and talk face to face.
