The Honors Program at Lake-Sumter State College allows students to receive all the perks one would expect from a private school education for a community college price.

With an innovative, integrated curriculum taugh by awardwinning faculty, the Honors Program at LSSC provides students with extensive opportunities to develop deeper learning through research, real-world experience, and engaging extra- and co-curricular activities.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY In order to be considered for admission to the honors program at LSSC, students must have: • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, school official, supervisor, or community leader • Documented evidence of academic achievement and readiness • Completed and submitted an application to the Honors Program • Completed and submitted a typed, 500-word essay

TRACKS Students in LSSC’s honors program may enroll in one of two tracks: a research track or a service-learning track.

The required classes will be the same regardless of which option they choose; however, each semester, there will be at least one major assignment that varies depending on the selected track.

Regardless of the track selected, during their time at LSSC, honors students will have the opportunity to work individually with a faculty advisor to develop a major project and to present the results of their work at a research colloquium.

TUITION COSTS The 2020-21 tuition cost for associate degree programs is $109.73 per credit hour for Florida residents. This cost does not include other required fees. Additional details available at www.lssc.edu/tuition.

There are no additional costs associated with your participation in the Honors Program.
