Art Thrives at ULS

In 2018, the ULS Foundation Board of Directors created two distinct Arts related allocations. The first, the Collaborative Arts Allocation, supports opportunities within U-High that fall outside the scope of general operational cost. Its primary purpose is to offset costs associated with curriculum based travel for student groups and faculty sponsors, performances and competitions within the Arts Department. Through the collaborative effort, the Foundation matches dollar for dollar, up to $10,000, of net proceeds raised through student ledevent based arts productions during each school year.

The second, the Arts Allocation, was created to set aside 10 percent of Annual Appeal funds to establish a base of available and predictable funding for general costs associated with equipment, uniforms or supplies. 5 percent has been provided every subsequent year.

In addition to these allocations, the ULS Foundation continues to fund faculty funding requests for additional art related needs. To date, more than $124,000 has been dedicated to Fine Arts just this school year.

This school year, Annual Appeal funds provided nearly $19,000 for audio visual needs for the theater.

Nearly $25,000 in Annual Appeal dollars went to providing the ULS band with instruments this past year alone.

The Choral Department was provided $3,500 for choir dresses and sheet music.

More than $12,000 was dedicated to the purchase of a kiln, screen printing press and graphic design iPad Pros.
