the Republic, who came up with the idea of an International Mother's Day in 1872. It is noticeable here that her objective behind this was not exactly to honor mothers but to celebrate the peace. Another important name associated with present form of Mother's Day celebrations is of Anna Jarvis. Anna Jarvis was the person who made lots of efforts for establishing Mother's Day, as a national celebration. Jarvis held an annual gathering "Mother's Friendship Day", with an objective to heal the pain of the victims and those affected of the Civil War. According to research, after the death of her mother in 1905, Anna began a campaign for the establishment of an official Mother's Day in order to commemorate and pay tribute to her mother. It has been recorded that Anna Jarvis devoted her entire life making efforts to have Mother's Day declared as a national holiday. She began her struggle in the spring of 1908. As her first step made in this direction she wrote to the Superintendent of Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. This was the place where her mother had taught Sunday School classes for over 20 years. Research supports in her letter to the Superintendent she urged that a Mother's Day service should be held in honor of her mother. Mothers are the most precious gift from God to us and there is no way we can ever really thank them for all they have done for us. Therefore, Mothers' Day is the best time to say in words how much you love and care for your mother. I would like to personally thank all of the mother’s of Lambda Tau Omega for stepping up and being of service to all mankind but especially to the children and young adults whose paths we have crossed and inspired in a motherly way. The spotlight is always on us and to whom much is given much is expected. Our communities depend on us to provide them with resourceful information and support them in times of needs. These are the attributes of a MOTHER and it is not coincidental that it started in 1908.

Chaplin’s Corner A Mother’s Power- Love To all my sorors who have birthed a child, raised a child, mentored a child, been a positive role for a child, I salute you and say Happy Mother’s Day. Motherhood is truly a labor of love. For some it is a learned skill for some it is a natural inclination. But however you have come to know the feeling and nurturing nature of motherhood, know that you have had a distinct impact on the future. The unconditional love a mother gives her child is a powerful bond that is seldom broken. It is much the same as Jesus has instructed us to do in 1 Peter 4:8: Keep your love for one another at full strength, because love covers a multitude of sins. We as sisters are united and committed to a love of purpose and a pledge to serve. As we continue to do mighty works for others let our love be evident in all we are as an organization, all we say, and all we do, for you are all God’s beloved in whom he is well pleased. God Bless You submitted by Jennifer Lyle Moore

People can be unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Love them anyway. If you do good, some will accuse you of selfish motives; Do good anyway. If you succeed, you may win false friends and true enemies; Succeed anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow; Do good anyway. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable; Be honest anyway. What takes years to build may be destroyed overnight; Build well anyway. The world crowns success, but God crowns faithfulness.
