La mia città is a communication project aimed at children. It is composed by various graphic elements, which use children’s peculiar language: the packaging is defined by a simple and acquainted light blue color. Inside it we find a game-book not only to browse, but also aimed to always re-invent the game; a placard, to draw the walls; and some printed cards that from one side show the different pieces of the game and from the other a disassembled urban
texture, to recompose while playing. And then comes the game: an aluminum piece is transformed through colors and some simple and formal graphic solutions in various toys, videlicet a flat, a church, a firehouse, etc. As the visual communication is applied either tridimensionally to the toy and bi-dimensionally to the paper, it unites the various parts of the project and creates a coordinate image in front of the children’s eyes.

Thus, through a large range of colors and illustrations, it employs the language mediums which the same kids use, breaking through the visual logic of the most littles’ interests. These buildings look raised from the observation of the perception dynamics and children’s
representations, which are characterized by a very simple graphic, but in the same time by a formal downrightness that we could define as universal. The children’s drawing process, indeed, passes across mind models; and so happens in this game, called “my city”: through the shapes but most of all the colors these flats
become the symbols of a urban contexture. The images are represented on different graphical supports, so they become the startpoint for the development of those abilities that psychological studies define fundamental for the children’s growth.

The book constantly stimulates the child to invent and elaborate different scenes and stories. The cards are thought to be the modular background of them and they are presented at the beginning as separate unities, though then pushed to dialogue among themselves and with the other elements of the game. The toy, following the formal lines of
illustration, is derived from tubular aluminum pre-existing objects, reelaborated and redesigned. This transforming operation resumes a childlike creative process. In fact, children don’t consider the things only as they are, but also as what they can become. In this particular case, the functional change transforms an object in a toy.

It’s not just a book, it’s not just a game: it’s a game-book. Each page has been parted into three horizontal stripes and then the middle ones have been removed. In this way we create a central permanent part, coincident with the back sleeve, on which the buildings of “my city”,
tridimensionally rendered by various layers of paper and cardboard, follow one another in a row. The ring binders allow a free and continuous switch of the illustrated scenarios, above and under the city. Within this reading-interpretation operation the kid creates his own story by will.

BALDO SPEZIALE Realization of visual communication for event “Baldo Speziale” consisting in logo, posters, flyers and supplements for newspapers. Baldo Speziale was an event based on flowers and tipical natural elements of Baldo mountain, near Garda lake in Trentino. The idea of logo started from the characterized element of event: Baldo mountain, Garda lake and flowers. At the same time only one line draw the mountain, the lake, and olso the stem of flower. Others graphic elements use colours and graphic forms that characterised Baldo Speziale event.

TYPE DESIGN and INSTALLATION IUAV, Type Design Workshop, Prof. Sonnoli Leonardo. Project topic: urban typographical installation. Our installation seeks a reconfiguration of Marinetti’s text, delivering it through a typically Venetian point of view and thus twisting his very significance We chose a part of the text that carries a strong, rough, brutish impact: “Let’s burn down gondolas, rocking chairs for nitwits”. This quote will be dropped upon the paths of Santa Marta, above the residents, the “Venetians from Venice”. The lettes will hang between the front walls of the calli, resembling drying laundry, which is subject to one of the most typical ancient folk traditions of the city. “Let’s burn down gondolas, rocking chairs for nitwits” is no more a futuristic defiance, yet only a text hanging on a string, cut out of tissue, light as air. Starting from the simple shape of a cloth, we tried to obtain the shape of letters, according with the graphic criteria of futurists, whose very compositions, made up with diagonally arranged words and perspective letters, resemble the setting of strings used to hang laundry which can be seen along the Venetian calli. Within many of Fortunato Depero’s graphic compositions you notice the presence of letters featuring firm lines and massive impact, enough to fulfill our needs. Our letters will be hanging on a string and must be thick and sturdy enough to ensure stability.
Therefore we designed a type featured with a thick and regular frame, exasperating its shape and getting thus closer to futuristic aesthetics. Few significant cuts have been made, in order to keeping close to the cloth’s shape and pushing to the limit the legibility of words.
SHOW: “I XE I TOCHI DE VENEXIA” Archaeological exhibition at
24
Our project is born out of the criticism by Massimo Cacciari, Mayor of Venice, about the journalistic award received by economist John Kay, who once qualified Venice as a Disneyland-city. We spent time considering the city and its features, which are unique in the world. We intended to assert this authenticity through a project of scientific collection and cataloguing of elements that form the very DNA and identikit of Venice. A collection of samples of water, seaweed, mold, soil, leaves (as well as any other thing that can be found across the city, not in an ordinary natural history museum) is set up inside Magazzino (Warehouse) n° 259 in Dorsoduro District. More than 400 years ago this warehouse thrived thanks to salt commerce; now, salt comes out of the walls, and seems to preserve Venice as a city that doesn’t want to be considered a Disneylandcity. The exhibition highlights elements, organic or not, that make up Venice as an historical city, unique and unreproducible. The show, staged at Magazzini del Sale, offers a museum-like environment in which items will be shown inside showcases and classified by archaeological methodology. Collected fragments are studied and catalogued as items of scientific, archaeological, archival and naturalistic significance, each one with its tag reporting its data. The exhibition at Magazzini del Sale proposes objects, I Tochi de Venexia (pieces of Venice), which are left away from our daily sights. Exposed pieces raise to the level of elements that express the particular and sensitive condition of the lagoonal city.
I Xe i Tochi de Venexia at S.A.L.E. is an exhibition that points out the urgency of focusing on the particular and sensitive features of Venice. Magazzini del Sale is a building composed by thick walls of exposed bricks, inside and outside, with a rectangular plan, log and narrow, at least 10 meters high. The massive wooden trusses, which recall the structures of Arsenale, lay on those brick walls, helped by no less than 20 pilasters over the long side. We choose to set up an arrangement using only secondhand items, restoring 4 old pieces of furniture. These are non- coloured, rectangularbased and divided into 6 sections by 5 horizontal shelves. Their shape is tall and lacking in depth, yet it proved perfect for our show, for it recalls the very architecture of the warehouse. Next we thought of filling with wooden faces the sections wihout exposed bottles, thus allowing the furniture to preserve its original size and keeping the attention focused on the other shelves. These faces are painted black, opposing them to the shelves utilized for the exposure, painted white, a colour that fits well into a scientific/ archaeological show.

SOME POSTERS Pippi decennary prize contest, female children’s writers. Poster realization together with Niccolò Mazzoni. Through this we tried to point out the way in which women’s creativeness may have a major role in children’s growth. Of course, the most effective way to attract children’s attention is game: therefore we overlapped the notions of reading, writing and education with game’s.
26
The female figure having fun with the rocking horse is depicted with a comic figure, sending us back once again to the world of childhood; moreover, her actual age can’t be discerned, thus performing a double role of child reader and adult writer. The chosen headline, “Writing”, is just as simple and congenial as the illustration and the whole layout.
Realization of poster for the show “TRA Venezia e Instanbul” with Chiara Zenzani. The show is a collection of artworks about the similar and different aspects of Venice and Instanbul. We design the logo thinking about the meaning of the word “tra”, so we used two different colours.
Posters and flyers for archaeological exhibition “I xe i tochi de Venexia” at the location Magazzini del Sale, Venice. The exhibition is a real inventory of pieces, organic and inorganic, from Venice lagoon. The graphics are conceived in order to point out the spirit of the advertised event.

THE KITSCH SIDE OF THE ROCK’N’ROLL
30
Realization of the folding catologue printed in only one side. This catologue tells about the phenomenal of punk : not only like a kind of music, but as a lifestyle. It describes the situation of England and USA in the punk’s period, the graphics, the fashion and the principal characters and bands. The name of this catalogue is: THE KITSCH SIDE OF THE ROCK’N’ROLL
“Between 1974 and 1996 the Ramones did 2.263 concerts; two concerts a week. On the 30th of march 1974 the Ramones played for the first time. Tickect: two dollars; spectators: maybe thirty people. No one came at the second concert.”

PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
IUAV, Photography Laboratory, Prof. Miro Zagnoli. Project topic: connection between subject and object and representation in five photo shots. Specifically, relating the subject with a personal object of his own life, one belonging to him, and to which he can identify himself.
32
I chose five friends of mine who are graffiti artists and I made them draw, so that each one created something personal, an “object” to which he is surely related. In order to strengthening the relation between artist and opera I showed, along with the drawing, the artist’s
face, photographed during his work. The first four of them drew quickly, avoiding major alteration in illumination and preventing the paint from drying on the glass. With a little alcohol the drawing faded, leaving “tabula rasa for the next subject.

COMPETITION A BOX OF DREAMS
36
“A Box of Dreams” is a package of candies, a telephone box, a flat for one who is looking for it, a shoe box, a computer... Every one of us has a magic box of his own, a small desire, an ideal. Think about it, our head is full of items, tiny material wishes that we seek. Our “Box of Dreams”. Making a further effort, we might imagine the world itself as a huge “Box of Dreams”, holding in turn countless boxes inside. Our intention is a project of communication. Specifically, a sticker, an adhesive artwork which is simple, dense, easily recognizable, with the
“A Box of Dreams” writing. The sticker, life size, can be virtually attached on anything, depending on one’s mood. This idea has been born after we tried to figure out what a “Box of Dreams” is, and we ended up to the conclusion that anything could be, for every person has a different object in which the dream materializes. So we embarked on a game of imagination, which involved the most disparate items, from the ordinary ones to the obsolete, and even to the immaterial ones, turning them into “Boxes of Dreams”.
Just where you can imagine it, there you can attach the sticker, and the item suddenly changes in front of you. The concept of dream, applied to a material object, changes its value, emphasize its idea. So just try to look at this box of candies: it’s a box of candies. But if you stick that magic “A Box of Dreams” on it, maybe you’ll have a different attitude towards it, maybe you won’t be able to help cheering. “So come on, let’s cover the world with stickers”.

FOOTBALL FIELDS Fifteen A4 sheets, pencil sketched, day after day, at the age of eight or nine years. They merge into a single work, although they can be viewed and presented separately. They are a metaphor of soccer, indeed, precisely the Italian Serie A. Each A4 shows a different episode of the season, a different match for AC Milan, the undisputed protagonist of the work, against a rival team. They are no actual football matches, anyway, but real battles with a vast range of weapons and tools; it is possibly a metaphor of what truly happens today between supporters of two rival teams.
One last special feature is the playing field, or rather battlefield: there are in fact four horizontal tiers, each featuring a different location. The first four sheets display space battles; in the second tier, which represents the first four league games, the fights are outdoors; in the drawings below it all takes place underwater; finally, the last three battles are fought in prehistory. The work is unfinished.

VIDEO “NOI” CINEMA 4D
For the Workshop of Theories and Techniques held by Professor Ciammaichella at IUAV I realized an animation video together with Leandro Lisboa and Marco Auriemma, using the Cinema 4D program. We first familiarized with the program for a while and then we started thinking about some ideas for the short film to be realized. A lot of valid hypotheses sprung, and eventually were dropped, given our sketchy knowledge of the program, the tight time schedule and the lack of adequate equipment. It ‘s so that we thought ourselves to become the protagonists of the short film and tell our story about the difficult realization of the video. The three characters, Luca, Leandro and Marco, are presented in three different environments and situations, just to introduce them. Luca is lounging about the street and calls Marco from a telephone booth, while Marco has fallen asleep on the couch of his apartment, which is very warm and welcoming, and a distracted Leandro can’t find his cell phone in a messy kitchen. Phone calls are the common thread that leads us to know the three characters. The finale gathers them in a classroom where they will “realize” the troublesome video.
40
First we have sketched the three characters and the settings with pens and pensils, then we realized them with Cinema 4D on notebook.
41
COMMUNICATION IDEAS
42
Some random ideas for graphics, logos and packaging, not yet implemented. First there is a remake of a hypothetical new logo for Apple, which shows what’s really behind (and inside) the apple of your Mac; then, a review of Castiglioni’s 1996 milk glass, decorated with a pattern that recalls a barcode. In my new glass the bar code is not just a decoration, but also a measuring tool. Moreover, a restaurant menu with a round, platelike shape: you browse the dishes and, for once, the photos correspond to reality! Finally, a packaging for Kornflakes, partially transparent, for the product to be seen before the opening.

COMPETITION EVERYVILLE LA BIENNALE Online Competition Everyville 2008. Project realized together with Valentina Raffaelli, exposed at 11th International Architecture Expo of Venice, la Biennale.
Lift your eyes and look above my head to see the electrical wiring, which send words, messages, which allow people to communicate over vast distances. These same wires which run under our feet, are in the walls, and the streets of our cities. Distant relations which have changed our lives and societies. Our objective is to create a line of comunication at the human level, the wires which run from house to house, in our parks, which weave new ideas in the tapestry of our cities, to push us to new levels of creatiivity. Colored wires like showrooms to hang painting, photographs and disegns; wires which provide shades of light. Wires for hanging what we like for communicating, playing and for covering. Weaves which become part of the city, which enhance the colours, the lights and the sounds playing on the wind. A versatile multicolored spiderweb which unites people through spontanteous communication, a fantasy which can develope into infinity.

DRAWINGS
46
Drawings, simple drawings made in latter days, 2008-2009, often small sized because they were sketched on notebooks or travel diaries. Ideas that are born in the very moment you take a pencil in your hand, without any prior study, afterthoughts or corrections. They are minutes, sketches, thoughts that take shape and become indelible, fixed on the page; possible hints for the future or simply past remembrance. Thereafter this list juxtaposes interior views and imaginary monsters , real life scenes
and cartoon-like men, giant bugs, impossible architecture, fonts, more or less geometrical shapes, graphics and so on. The realization technique is pencil, pen or marker, on a support of paper, often recycled.
47
INSTALLATION AT MAGAZZINI DEL SALE. HEADLINES SHOW Headlines is an event that gathers several forms of street art. During the event I first contributed to the photographic realization of the exhibition catalog, then ,together with Valentina Raffaelli, I realized an installation inspired by the theme of street graffiti. The concept behind this simple “interactive sculpture is to express the erratic and transient nature of
48
these mural drawings, one day being there and the next possibly being covered, deleted or spoiled. The construction is made up with identical carton and pictures attached to their sides. Visitors, by moving cartons, rearranging them or just making them fall is able to uncover each time new illustrated sides, hiding others. Closed to the installation:
Shifting, Like this transient art, Like a wall that one paints then covers and paints again. Like a sticker that is torn away. Like these drawings on a constant evolution, which are unmade and revived each time, for they struggle for being exposed to anybody... for letting themselves being beheld, touched, mutated..

VISUAL COMMUNICATION PROJECT Visual Communication Workshop held by Professor Dittadi at IUAV in Treviso, three-year degree of Arts and Design The theme of this course was the realization of a logo and its application to clothing and miscellaneous. The context of this project was given by the inauguration of a space-park with facilities and drawing panels for street writing. The logo resumes the famous crown-symbol of Jean Michel

Basquiat (1960-1988), forerunner of the art of writing. The chosen keyword for the park and logo is “HALL, i.e. entrance, which carries the concepts of inauguration, of park open to everybody and the philosophy of writing. Moreover, it is a simple and short name, suitable for a logo and easy to remember.

STREET DANCE FIGHTERS
Moonwalkers presenta
STREET DANCE FIGHTERS il musical
Realization of visual communication for theater-music event “Street Dance Fighters, the Musical consisting in posters, flyers and cds. Quite from the three words of the title the idea for the poster, imagined on three levels, comes up: a background black city, a slightly spoiled font and a radial of colors conjuring a spectacle. Those same colors on the flyers point out the event highlights and most useful info.

PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT In this second photography workshop each student has been given a different object to be analyzed, studied and finally photographed. The object that was assigned to me is the Vespa, the scooter born in 1945 from a design by C. D’Ascanio. It is indeed an already abused subject, photographed in all kind of ways and poses, the protagonist of a myriad of advertising. I analyzed my subject, wondered what part I could magnify, what the Vespa means to me and what it actually is: namely, freedom, elegance, and above all movement, speed. I gathered four friends, my girlfriend Vale, the Vespa, then I found a quiet place in Bassano and I invented a brief story, a sort of advertising. The four friends and Vale are waiting for the bus, bored and listless, with nothing happening. Suddenly there is a noise, like the roar of an engine: the ears are pricked up, the eyes turn curious, the mood becomes bustling, and finally there comes the Vespa, beautiful, elegant, free. The boys twitch, they cant just chill down. Vale even tries to run after the vehicle, as if bewitched by it. In the heat of the moment she leaves her purse on the ground as she jumps aboard the Vespa, and one of the boys, turning out to be a thief takes the purse and sneaks away. The appeals of the unfortunate to get some help are of no avail, being the thief already vanished.
54
The remaining boys, charmed by the passage of the Vespa and indifferent to the theft, go back to wait for the bus. To give the impression of movement I printed the ten photos on a banner 0,4 meters high and 8 meters long and applied the banner itself to a polystyrene cylinder 0.4 meters high with a circumference of 1.4 meters, thus covering the entire perimeter with photos. Then I placed the cylinder on a spindle to allow the whole to rotate. Finally, with the help of an empty cylinder I directed the gaze on a single image at a time, creating the effect of a stop-motion video.

VISUAL COMMUNICATION PROJECT Visual Communication Workshop held by Prof. Croatto at IUAV in Treviso, three-year degree in Arts and Design. This time the opportunity for the design was the presentation of the works of Jean Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) at the Milan Triennale in September 2006. During the workshop we have studied a logo, its interpretation and its applications to gadgets and graphics of various kinds. The logo uses the name of the author himself and the colour black is inspired by the colour

of his skin and his confused, hectic life. The logo also uses strong lines, horizontal and vertical marks, often found in the works of Basquiat. This typographic logo has been subsequently developed in more graphics-oriented logos and then be applied to pins, bags and stickers. The poster uses an image of J. M. Basquiat, cut and downsized depending on the purpose.

DESIGN IDEAS
58
A few sketches show some design intentions, for building, for reusing, for playing, for dreaming. The lamp “Sole in Città” (Sun in the city) is presented in a hypothetical cubic box, composed of two parts: the outer, removable, depicts the city to arrange around the bulb to create the shadow effect, the inner, rectangular, is the real container of the light, externally decorated with a sky theme. The stool to milk the cows, simple, comfortable and portable, takes the shape of the cow’s udder, only slightly withdrawing from the classic stool shape. A giant cup is lined in the interior and hosts one or more relaxed people, becoming a new “cup chair.” The old unserviceable skis are attached to the wall and serve as hangers and decoration.

A.M.M. [ART and MUSIC MOVEMENT] Architectural Design Workshop held by Professor Matteo Ghidoni at IUAV, Faculty of Architectural Sciences. With Luca Brazzale I redesigned the interior part of the van as a mobile
60
structure for music, art and parties. In this van there are some shelves with differents types of colours, canvas and papers; one dj console and a current generator for the music and the lights.
This special van makes music, art and parties every time in different places. It gives funny moment and then it goes away, in another place.
WORKSHOP MARCO KLEFISCH
IUAV, Teach me “Very Stupid”, Workshop “Fatti a Pezzi” by illustrator and visual designer Marco Klefisch. The course consisted in producing a facial expression through the makeup of given items (parts and samples of images), and the usage of oneself’s body samples as a limit. The substance of our project, which I believe self-evident, is the creation of the picture through a single snapshot, without having to appeal to a collage or photomontage.

PROJECT OF PORTICO PIER Architectural Design Workshop 1 held by Professor Grandinetti at IUAV, Faculty of Architectural Sciences. The course required the design of a portico pier, entirely wooden and equipped with service area and bar area. The plan of my project is funnel-shaped: it has a narrow entrance at the bank, like an invitation, and then opens up in a large, triangular belvedere which tempts to pause. The portico is developed in a straight line and ends in the belvedere, which houses the bar and services rooms. The constructive frame of the structure marks the measures of bar and services areas.
62
PROJECT OF INTERIOR DESIGN
Interior Design Workshop held by Professor Cornold at IUAV, Faculty of Architectural Sciences. First I analysed the house of architect Goffrey Bawa, that he built from 1959 in Sry Lanka. This house was built not in one time, but in more phase and it included four differents bungalows. The result is a labyrinth of walls and little rooms. Then I realized the model with four differents materials, the same of the real house: woods for the walls, grass for the gardens, clay for the floors and concrete for the pavement.
63
In the Urban Design course held by Professor Tosi the goal was to deal with the analysis of a specific area, localized in the vast plains of Veneto between the cities of Mestre, Padova and Treviso. The reflections touched different territorial aspects, such as mobility, residential sprawl, public parks, commercial areas, highlighting issues common to other areas of socalled “suburban sprawl. The project focused onto one of these unsolved
issues, designing a network of public mobility divided into different importance levels. A road network thought to link the surveyed area along with the design of equipped spaces in currently unused areas spread alongside the various tracks.

PROJECT OF EXHIBITION PAVILION
Architectural Design Workshop held by Professor Carnevale at IUAV, Faculty of Architectural Sciences. The workshop topic is the design of an exhibition pavilion. In my project, the pavilion is a bridge, entirely made up of wood and steel tie beams . The pillars hold up the roof, which in turn, through the steel cables, holds the suspended ground floor. The strength of this pavilion is established by this
66
skeletal structure, which is apparently gaunt, but proves an actual structural sophistication. The exhibition function becomes clear as the steel cables that keep the structure together, support the canvas as well. Such obtained visual effect charges the hall with an open/closed alternation, which generates very suggestive areas of light and shadow.
PROJECT OF THREE TYPES OF PATIO HOMES Architectural Compositions Summer Workshop held by the Professor Albiero Roberta at IUAV in Venice. The project shows three types of patio homes studied individually and in their aggregations. All three houses develop
on two levels and have at least two patios, in order to provide light in the interior. In all three of the regularity of the housing grid contrasts with the irregular and dynamic shapes of the patios.
This concept acquires greater force in the apartment-block combinations that have virtually limitless development.
