A shell of concrete can ceal every sort of condition and we use this freedom and enhance it through a courtyard that is potentially never the same and therefore cannot be read architecturally in terms of wright or wrong. Each unit can relate to the courtyard in the manner considered more appropriate.

The park is a strong act of a city towards the urbanisation. It cannot be a simple void though, it needs a purpose (not a function!) and a limit. An office building is a mass that can be carved in order to create a new urban identity. Both realities, here built above a busy station, challeng the counterposition of privat and public.

Not rural, nor urban. Wilderness is the context of this masterplan where plots will be created and provided with basic supplies and a small dock. Starting with such conditions, the design of a dock required a lot of thinking on its role. Is it just a connection or can it function as extension of the shore or as shore itself, even?

ARCHITECTURE OF TIME // Studio Go Hasegawa 1’200 m2 Residential Milan, ITALY
The architecture of time is the architecture of relations and therefore of space proportion and forms. A single architecture with three different structural span can build different relationship with its surroundings. Within such architecture, it’s possible an interesting spatial dycotomy of spaces that either belong to the structure or do not.

HOUSE 1 // Collaboration 1200 m2 House renovation construction site Morbio Inferiore, SWITZERLAND
Frequently misunderstood, the renovation is the act of creating a new entity within an extisting structure. It is not about restoring and ideal condition of the building. Such starting point allowed to juxappose contemporary spaces and traditional construction methods, creating a new character and therefore a new architectural entity.

BASEMENT // Studio Valerio Olgiati 300 m2 School Inle Lake, Myanmar
The basement is the fundamental gesture of architecture. Here is the cradle of human activity. A basement and a green courtyard are two precious elements that must lived with careful awareness. A school is what can contribute the most to such behaviour and its roof(s) is the only consitutive element that characterises a space.

A building in a park is a contradictory condition as it is a project not in an urban nor rural context. A mediation between the artificial space of architecture and the artificial nature of the park was then necessary. Through the creation of a extremely ubiquous space and a mediator space, the tribute paid to artificiality finds its climax.
