Michael Morpurgo’s book Born to Run is rated 5 out of 5 stars. The book puppies being found floating down a canal. Patrick has to leap in to save the poor puppies in a sack from drowning. But that is just the start. One of the dogs gets picked to be Patrick’s companion and soon goes from a little puppy to a champion racing greyhound. Patrick names the young greyhound best mate and Best Mate soon proves that cats are not the only animals with more than one life as Best Mate has an adventure of lives. With Best Mate being kidnapped, living out on the streets and being adopted by Patrick will he ever find a real home? If you want to find out more then read this book as it is brilliant. Born to run is an amazing book and represents some of the things that happens to animals all over the world. This book can show people that animals aren’t just for birthdays or Christmas and that they arrive in the strangest places all over the world. This book also shows the many lives that dogs live and how horrible it can be. Overall this book is an influencing book and is brilliant and I would advise people to buy this book and read it.

On the 13th January 2010 a horrendous earthquake hit the people of Haiti unexpectedly. A horrific amount of bodies were pulled out from under the rubble, the amount of bodies was 150,000. Help services are being sent in to give food and water to the people of Haiti. Everything that they had worked for and built was destroyed, nothing was left standing. The Red Cross said that 3 million people have been affected by the catastrophe. Many more people are still under the rubble of the fallen down buildings. Loads more people are donating and raising money to send to the people of Haiti, to help them rebuild their city and get them food. Many children are hurt and fighting for their lives because of the earthquake. Here is a quote from one of the people that was involved in the massive earthquake. "All of a sudden everything was just falling apart ... there was no place to hide"

AVATAR Film Review Avatar is a movie that was released recently in mid – December. The director was James Cameron, who hadn’t directed a film since Titanic. When Titanic came out it won over 10 Oscars when it was released, so the anticipation for Avatar was especially high. However the wait for Avatar was worth it because the week it was released it reached number 1 in the U.K box office. Avatar was the only film I have ever watched, where every minute was amazing. It is an entirely modern film as it combines computer generated images (CGI) and real life actors to create an almighty atmosphere in a spectacular film. The storyline, effects, acting and all other aspects of Avatar are truly amazing! In my opinion I think that Avatar is an extreme success to the film world and proves this because it has already become the biggest selling film of all time because it has already made $1.8 billion dollars in a single month after it has been released and the video game sold 2.8 million copies within the first week it was released. COMPETITION! Which actress starred in Avatar and who had previously appeared in the film Alien? Prizes will be won!

What’s in everyday makeup? There are some weird things in Makeup like in lip gloss there is Paraffin wax, Coconut oil, Petroleum jelly, Candy melts. Apparently eyeliner is made up of Omega 3, ink and fish scales. It's uh.... actually usually made of bat... poo. And sometimes tar. Other times, tons and tons of chemicals. Mascaras will dry out your lashes especially waterproof varieties. Try using clear because not only does it look more natural, costs less, is quicker and easier to apply... there are no under eye circles.

VISIT OUR WEB SITE TO VIEW LOTS MORE PICTURES ON www.thepadteam.co.uk This picture shows our live band CROSSFIRE with Ian Mac from WIGHT FM getting the crowd going at the summer fete last year. Some of the displays in the main arena included a dog agility display, fun and games with the play rangers and ignite, bouncy castles and much much more. Food was cooked on the BBQ by the PAD team and stall holders sold a variety of different things. Beat the keeper was very Popular and we are looking forward to this years fete.
The fancy dress Halloween disco was attended by over 100 students from both Furlongs and Kitbridge campus`s. A lazer light disco supplied the music and the PAD team made loads of lovely food for all. All this for just a ÂŁ1.00. A fancy dress competition saw our 2 winners picking up a ÂŁ15 HMV voucher each. The evening finished at 9pm and a great night was had by all.
Having been nominated for an award PAD were invited to attend the annual PNP awards evening. The event was optional fancy dress but as you can see PAD didn't disappoint . This picture shows Mark and Nigel collecting the award for group achievement which PAD won after being voted for by the people of Pan. We are very proud of this and are looking forward to next years event The Christmas party which was a joint event that PAD did with Pan Community Youth Club (PCYC) was a great success with nearly 200 of you attending it was a very busy night. As usual a nice assortment of food was available and also a tuck shop. Tea coffee and hot chocolate was also on tap for parents that wished to stay and enjoy the party. Lazer light disco kept all the schildren dancing for ages and a huge inflatable santa, polar bear and snowman decorated the hall. Fancy dress was optional but a lot of the children turned up dressed for the festive event, One even dressed up as a Christmas present.
PAD needs ideas from you on the sort of events you would like us to run this year. You can do this by E mailing Mark on peddie40@googlemail.com with new ideas or if you liked the events that we ran last year and would like them again let us know. Year 8 leavers also need to get their thinking caps on and give us ideas for their leaving event.

Embarrassing moments! When I was out with my mate we were walking down town. I wasn’t looking where I was going so I stepped in a pile of dog poo and nearly fell over. My friend laughed at me for ages and I was really embarrassed. I needed to sort out my shoe so I went into some toilets and cleaned them. When there were done we went back outside. My friend was teasing me and I was just laughing along. Just as I was re-enacting my accident I actually slipped over and fell on my bum. My mate didn’t realise until I shouted out and told her to help me out. We laughed for ages but it was really embarrassing. Now I always look where I walk!
One dry I was at the swimming pool with some of my friends so I decided to do a headstand (big mistake). Whilst upside down my bikini fell down and well you know. Even worst there was some hotties from school!
When I was in assembly I was sitting at the front and I decided to take my jumper off. But what I did wasn’t so smart. As I pulled my jumper over my head I didn’t realise but my top was being pulled up with it!
The word "fart" comes from the Old English "feortan" (meaning "to break wind") Farts are flammable. Termites are the largest producers of farts. Although they won't admit it, women fart as much as men. On the average a fart is composed of about 59% nitrogen, 21% hydrogen, 9% carbon dioxide, 7% methane, and 4% oxygen. Less than 1% is what makes them stink. The cigarette lighter was invented before the match No matter its size or thickness, no piece of paper can be folded in half more than 8 times.
