WHY SMARKETING? GOALS AND APPROACH It is usual for NGOs and nonprofit organizations to lack some kind of expertise in management and marketing. A lot of times, all they have is good will, desire for change and actually be doing something for society. However, it is know their work and impact radius could be so much more effective and sustainable if only they had manpower and expertise to do so. Smarketing was developed to fill this gap. The interns will do a diagnosis of the organization, identify their main needs, develop and implement strategies to improve the communication with their audience, volunteers and partners to strengthen their brand and increase their sustainability.


WHY SMARKETING? GOALS AND APPROACH The main idea is to help the NGOs of Cuiabá to be more effective with less resources, making the organization to grow sustainably and self-sufficient. The interns must be sensitive to identify the organization’s need and apply the strategies to improve it and promote it to the local community. It’s important to adapt the objectives of the 6 weeks with each different reality. The interns may do different kind of activities, such as: marketing plan, use of visual identify and branding, management of website and social media (and keep it working after you finish the project), events, positioning of product, strategies to attract funds and/or partners, etc.


AND HOW WILL WE DO THAT? Week 1 - Analysis: to understand the situation of the NGO. Evaluating all the critical points through tools and techniques that help to reveal which are the roots and possible solutions of the organization; Week 2,3,4 and 5 - Execution: operational planning. The weeks of implementation must have clear measurables of sucess so that each challenge is implemented safely. Besides, develop short to long-term activities for the following points: human resources, financial and communication. Week 6 - Consolidation: Ensure the long-term effectiveness making the tools and general techniques embedded througnout the project are easily accessible and passed on to the NGO, enabling the use of it.


EXPECTED RESULTS IN THE END OF THE PROJECT To make the NGO more recognized in the community, to attract more volunteers and target audience to participate in the NGO activities; increase of the number of partners that want to collaborate for the maintenance of the organization. 90% of achievement in the specific operacional plan. Besides, the NGO’s staff satisfaction is a key result that must be develivered. Besides, the trainee can participate in activities planned by the hosting commitee and/or the NGO during the internship. Be prepared to present your country and culture in events, such as Global Village and other workshops.


NGOS THAT NEED SMARKETING You will receive more information about the place you’re going to work at and who will be your partners in the Virtual Meeting. This meeting is a conversation on Skype or Hangouts facilitated by an AIESECer, when all the trainees who will do Smarketing are gathered and get to know each other. In the Virtual Meeting, we give more details about the activities the trainees will be developing, explain how the NGO works, tips about the travel, etc. Don’t worry, we will contact you! This meeting will happen 1 week before your arrival in Brazil.
