Part 2 or equivalent
COVER LETTER To whom it may concern, My name is Ana Lúcia Trincão Tomaz Serrano and I am writing to express my interest in an Architectural Assistant (Part 2 or equivalent) position with your company. I am very excited about the possibility of working for such a reputable company, whose work I’ve respected and admired for such a long time, and where having the opportunity to work on architectural design and planning at such high standards would be an absolute privilege. For a brief description of my academic education and training, in November 2012 I concluded my 5 year Architecture course from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (now University of Lisbon), - with one semester in the french university École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg under the Erasmus program - where I graduated with the degree of Masters in Architecture. Here I was able to acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform high quality work at a professional level. In my final years I developed a particular taste and skill for the field of Digital Modeling and so, for my Masters’ final Project and Dissertation I decided to focus on the theme of “ Rehabilitation of a Property of Municipal Interest - The use of digital technologies as architectural design tools. “ Shortly after graduating I had the wonderful opportunity to work at Barbosa & Guimarães, Arquitectos - a highly reputable architectural company in Porto, Portugal, with several built projects around the whole country, while also currently focusing on an expansion for other international territories. During the one year internship and then 5 months working as an Junior Architect (2nd year), I was able to develop and take part in projects of the most varied scales and typologies and to work in just about all phases of the projects themselves (from initial proposal studies to preparation of final documentation for construction). I left Barbosa & Guimarães, Arquitectos last September (2014) after being accepted at the University of Westminster - Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, in Lodon, where I’m currently studying for a second masters degree in Architecture - Digital Media. This course is allowing me to improve immensely my skills in this ever growing field of the modern technologies in Architecture and learn new subjects such as programming and animation and, at the moment, I’m finalising my Project and Dissertation with the focus on the sense of touch in architecture. I am a very determined person, responsible and perfectionist and, with regards to language skills, I am bilingual with the English language and have the maximum degree from the University of Cambridge (CPE - Certificate of Proficiency in Inglês ). In addition, I am also fluent in French Language. Throughout my still young career I’ve been developing a great ability to work as a team and always try to investigate and study new techniques, project logistics, contents and work together with more experienced professionals and means of communication to practice and exercise my profession with the maximum efficiency and accuracy and, as such, I consider that I am an excellent candidate to work in your company. I appreciate your consideration of my application and look forward to further discussing this opportunity with you in person. Please feel free to contact me anytime to arrange an interview.
