INTRODUCTION
W
ith a history of more than seven decades, the West University of Timișoara community is a family of 15,000 members, the largest in West Romania, with a strong identity and a long-lasting image. Founded in 1944, by a Royal Decree, West University of Timișoara - WUT - is the fourth largest university in Romania. A regional leader on the educational market, with more and more connections to the international academic community, West University of Timisoara has been included in numerous international academic rankings in recent years, ranking in 2017 in the top 701+ QS World University Rankings.

he 11 faculties of WUT practically cover all the main directions of study in the field of exact sciences, economics, social sciences, humanities and arts.
In our University, new methods of teaching and evaluation are implemented, videoconferencing systems are being constantly updated and offers for PhD. and Post-Doctoral Programmes are constantly being diversified. Inter-disciplinarity and cross-disciplinarity is a new concept of education adopted at WUT, allowing the students to choose courses from a different study programme than their major, with the objective of enhancing the university's input in their personal and professional development for a more and more international life and globalized labor market.

ROMANIAN LANGUAGE PREPARATORY YEAR

University of est Timisoara is one of the accredited universities in Romania to organize the Preparatory Year of Language. Romanian
This language course is mandatory for students who wish to study in Romanian language and don’t have a language certificate in this sense. During the Preparatory Year students acquire the requisite knowledge of Romanian language as well and specific knowledge correlated with future training profile (anatomy, physics, chemistry, drawing technical etc.), if the curriculum is organized in Romanian.
If you wish to apply for a study programme in Romanian language, it is mandatory to undertake the Preparatory Year of Romanian Language programme. The fee for this programme varies according to the field of studies the candidate wants to pursue after finishing the language course (for eg. the Preparatory Year for medicine is 320EUR/ month, and the one for Economics is 220EUR/month ).
FOREIGN CITIZENS OF ROMANIAN ORIGINS
F
oreign Citizens of Romanian Origins can obtain a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education to study in Romania. The scholarships are meant to support studies in Romania, to
promote Romanian language, culture and civilization, to specialize young Romanians living abroad in their profession, as well as to sustain research on current topics such as the state, the dynamic and the evolution of the Romanian communities abroad. For obtaining a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education, the candidates must be foreign citizens of Romanian origin or Romanian citizens with permanent residence abroad, who do not have Romanian identity cards or permanent residence in Romania. These students maintain their financial status obtained on admission throughout this period of studies (but have to pay a fee in case of repetition of academic year).
The following categories of scholarship are offered for international students with romanian origins:
-Free of charge tuition fee with monthly scholarship with financing from the state budget for: tuition fee, monthly scholarship (65 euro/ month for BA students, 75 euro/ month for MA students and 85 euro/ month for PhD students) and accommodation in student dormitories; -Free of charge tuition fee without scholarship: with financing from the state budget for: tuition fee and accommodation in student dormitories.
EU AND R OMANIAN CITIZENS WITH DEGREES OBTAINED ABR OAD
C
randidates who graduated high-school or a bachelor/master study programme in a European country, other than Romania, can study at WUT after they have their study documents recognized and validated by the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (C.N.R.E.D.), part of the Romanian Ministry of Nationale Education (M.E.N.) The procedure for the validation and equivalence of diplomas must be done with the help of the International Relations Department, at WUT. The documents that have to be validated by the C.N.R.E.D. can be sent to the International OďŹƒce, that will submit afterwards the documents to the the C.N.R.E.D.

FREE MOVERS
A
free mover student is a student enrolled at a foreign university or a foreign citizen who g r a d u a t e d secondary-school/ high school or undergraduate
studies and who wishes to participate in one or more of the courses offered by West University of Timișoara, for a period of time equivalent to a semester or an academic year, without the benefit of the rules of the existing bilateral agreements between the university and the foreign higher education institutions, and without receiving a study diploma.

ERASMUS+MOBILITY he Erasmus+ Programme for student mobility for studies and traineeships is successfully implemented at West University of TimiĹ&#x;oara (WUT). Once you become a student at WUT, you have the possibility to undertake a
learning experience for studies and/or training in another country at one of our partner institutions. The Erasmus+ Programme for student mobility for studies and traineeships helps you become part of the international community of hundreds of students who study, do research or training abroad. The experience of an Erasmus+ student mobility will contribute to your academic and professional knowledge development, while at the same time enrich your cultural and linguistic experience.
Within the Erasmus+ Programme, WUT has almost 400 partner universities in the EU Programme Countries . A Community student mobility for studies and/or training abroad is offered an Erasmus+ grant for subsistence of 470 euros/month or 520 euros/month, depending of the country of destination, to cover for the living costs during the period of the mobility. Moreover, since the Erasmus+ Programme is now worldwide, WUT has over 60 partner universities outside of the EU Community Partner Countries . In this case, a student mobility for studies and/or training abroad is offered an Erasmus+ grant for subsistence of 700 euros/month, to cover for the living costs during the period of the mobility, together with an Erasmus+ grant for transport between 20 – 1500 euros.

ith nearly 800 international students and over 400 Erasmus+ outgoing mobilities addressed to WUT students, academic and administrative sta, the activities of the Department of International Relations is strongly focused on the internationalization of the WUT community. WUT was the ďŹ rst university in Romania to test the beta version of the StudyinRomania
platform, a useful instrument for advertising the study programmes of the Romanian Universities to the international audience. Ranked 1st for the EduManager Prize Gala for "University education - international exchanges and projects" category in 2014, the WUT constantly strengthens its internationalization strategies through educational and research projects, trough attendance at international events at conferences, work-shops and training courses.
WUT constantly signs bilateral agreementswith prestigious international institutions, based on which student mobilities (studies and placement) as well as academic and administrative staff mobilities (teaching and training) take place. WUT is the only University in Romania to win simultaneously the finincing of two inter-institution cooperation:
“Institutional Change for International exchange Students with Disabilities” and “Opportunities and Challenges for Tertiary Educational System in Promoting Evidence Informed Governance Society ActiveGovEdu”.
