Streetlight Maintenance

BEL invites tenders for Streetlight Maintenance for the period 2023 to 2025 at the following locations:

Corozal Orange Walk Punta Gorda

The Prime Minister, Hon. John Briceño meets the delegation from #Cuba who were here to meet with their BWSL counterparts. The BWSL officials first visited Cuba last year and this is the return visit.

Collaboration efforts between BWS and the Cuban Delegation included meetings set up with Minister Michel Chebat, Ministry of Public Utilities and Logistics; Mr. Valentino Shal, CEO in the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government and Mrs. Tennielle Hendy, Principal Hydrologist at Government of Belize.

For some context: On September 16, 2022, BWS signed an official Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of Cuba (NIHR), that will strengthen the exchange and co-operation between Belize and Cuba on issues related to water and sanitation. Belize’s Ambassador to Cuba Mrs. Annie-Lou Burns Martinez was very instrumental in coordinating the visit of our contingent who were able to visit some water facilities and to discuss a way forward.

Bidders are invited to a pre-bid virtual meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. To gain access to the meeting link, send an email to bidboxrequest@bel.com.bz with the subject “Bid #2022-786 Line Surveying and Staking Countrywide”.

So going forward, the Belize Water Services Limited and thus Belize can expect technical support from their counterparts in Cuba. Included are scholarships, water table analysis, water testing training leading to all-important accreditation.

Bidders are invited to attend a Virtual Pre-bid Meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 To express interest in attending the meeting and to gain access to the meeting link, send an email to bidboxrequest@bel.com.bz with the subject “Streetlight Maintenance 2023 - 2025” no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Bidders will be required to submit a fixed price quotation to perform the services and provide all equipment and materials listed.

Belizeans are all used to the modus operandi of our Prime Minister. So the delegation was in for a treat. On meeting with our leader, the Cuban delegation members were all pleasantly impressed with his demeanour and work ethic. Belize is lucky to have John Briceño as leader. Do not tell him that as he knows that we all are lucky to be a part of this beautiful country, Belize.
