CROWFOOT CANDICE! Thursday, November 14, 2019 The news that Candice Miller, former Administrator at the Belize City Council, was overwhelmed by greed to the point that she decided to circumvent the Court process and crow-foot the Council’s assets, should come as no surprise. Candice is a UDP. She was a UDP political appointee at the Council. She worked strictly for the UDP, and not for the people of Belize, and she continues to do the bidding of the UDP. And she is a perfect UDP – greedy, uncaring and shameless. At the Belize Times, we take great issue with the ruling of Justice Abel, but we also understand that he is looking strictly at the legalities, and not the politics. Any observer can tell you that Candice was visible at many UDP political functions, in her bright red shirt, working for her Party. There was no shame in her game. What former UDP Mayor Darrel Bradley did was a travesty, raising her pay by tens of thousands of dollars and extending her contract well beyond the life of the UDP Council, just a couple months before elections. What that was, very simply, was a fleecing of public coffers to benefit a UDP loyalist – nothing more than that.

CROWFOOT CANDICE!
Continued from page 1 There is an unspoken rule in politics, adhered to by persons who are elected politically. Whenever there are elections, and your Party loses, you pack up your desk and leave. That is the honourable thing to do. But there was no honour in Candice Miller. She wanted to stick around at the Council, collecting a huge salary and likely doing all in her power to undermine the work of the new PUP Council. And when she demonstrated her incompetence, and her disloyalty to the new municipal administration, and was terminated, she decided to go with a bang, gouging the people of Belize for almost half a million dollars. That is shameless hustling, and at the people’s expense. Sources in the UDP tell us that Miller is being encouraged by higher-ups in her Party who want to see the PUP administration fail. The simple fact of the matter is that if the Council finds almost half a million dollars to pay Miller, it will be taxpayer dollars, and the people of Belize City will suffer. As bailiffs under Miller’s instructions have crow-footed heavy equipment and office equipment used to serve the residents of Belize City, it is those residents who will suffer. It is way past time that legislation be passed which prohibits the awarding of contracts to political appointees, past the term of a Council, or past the term of a Party. It is unethical, immoral and it should be illegal. It is one way in which political officers can be rewarded for being Party loyalists, but now with the new administration in office footing the bill – and it is a bill paid by the people, make no mistake about that. The People’s United Party, when getting into office very soon, will move to enact such legislation. There are employees in every government department, and every municipal administration who are honourable persons with integrity, who work for the benefit of the people of Belize. They are competent, efficient and they serve country first, not party. These are the persons who should be granted security of tenure. But then there are persons like Candice who are shamelessly political and serve their party brazenly and boldly and openly. They are incompetent because they follow only the instructions of their political masters, and do what is best for their party, and not for the country and the people. These are persons who should never have security of tenure. Like their political bosses, they should come and go. Candice has no shame, but she will pay the price for her greed. The people of Belize will never forget.
PG RESIDENTS PROTEST Some two dozen blaring vehicles marched on Punta Gorda streets protesting the neglect of the streets and their horrible conditions at the hands of the PG Town Council. The Mayor c of Toledo in response to his lacklustre job in Peini is that he is not getting help from the PUP Area Representative. Mckenzie knows fully well that the area representative is in charge of 20 plus villages and that the streets of the town fall squarely on the laps of the whoever is the Mayor. To complete the story, this is the same Mayor that alleged he can call on Dean Barrow whenever he needs help. His council is UDP thus under central government. Barrow was all over during campaign time stating that he ONLY helps UDP town councils. Well now is the time to eat this pudding. The people of Punta Gorda are fed up of livUnited States

ELRINGTON HELPLESS AND SALDIVAR CLUELESS One Jorge Espat is in the news claiming that the Mayor of Melchor de Mencos is systematically selling away his land near barrio El Juda which unfortunately, but well within his Belizean rights, sits right at our side of the Belizean border and close to the border crossing. It isn’t news that Guatemala is inching itself into Belize legally, technically and here really. Our hapless leaders are helpless and clueless. Elrington is heard comparing this squatting to a North Korean missile flying over Japan. What?? He says he needs time. Saldivar is heard as loud as a press release can sound. Both are definitely NOT looking out for Belize and are apologists for Guatemala. Yet one insists to run for Pickstock where he is NOT wanted and the other is convinced by a few that he can be the leader of the UDP & Belize—for the latter, as one of your convention attendees shouted, “Jamas.” Of course, you didn’t flinch because you do not understand Spanish as you faked at the convention. Dean Barrow madly rushed Belize through the May 8 ICJ referendum and managed to purchase Belize City voters with spurious claims. One claim that sticks out is the idea that once Belize votes YES to the international court’s jurisdiction that Belize would request that the issues of Belizeans on the Sarstoon and incursions across the Western Border be stayed. The obvious problem is that
ing in neglected streets. This UDP mayor should pay a visit to an opposition-led municipality and learn how one is managed under the vindictive and petty incumbent UDP government who takes as enemies the opposition-led towns and cities. Mayor Bernard will surely give him a tour on how to manage a municipality. Sorry McKenzie, he can be the Mayor or only one community. Do your Job. The protesters have claimed this as a non-political rally and ‘nuff’ respect. The PUP is glad to support anyway. The two weeks given to the Mayor to get his act together is right on. As quickly as possible, McKenzie should quit the blame game and decide if he can or cannot do the job. The PUP is waiting in the wings. We do not HAVE to wait until March 2021.

the ICJ would allow status quo. That would mean Guatemala could continue its bullying at the Sarstoon and that Guatemala would be free to meander in and out of our Western Border. PUP’s Oscar Mira is on record stating that if the Ministry of National Security would do its job of oversight of the BDF patrolling of key areas that the $9000Bz, in Quetzals, land sale would have never been an issue. Mira has personally patrolled these areas and is willing to attest to incompetence within the Ministry of National Security in working with the Organization of American States (OAS) to maintain the integrity of Belizean soil. At the border, etched in the soul of every Belizean and thus NOT artificial, John Saldivar has ONE job, keeping undocumented Guatemalans OUT. If you cannot do that get your name off the UDP leadership ballot and resign as Minister of National Security. UDP, Stop defending Guatemala. Saldivar, show leadership and ask all your 21 leaders to resign along with you. That will force Dean Barrow to hint to the GG to formally take Belize into General Elections and the dawn of a new day...a UDPless one. Phew!! Hurry.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas
T
his week was full of surprises as the Belize City Council was beat to the punch by former City Administrator Candice Miller when she filed and was granted an Execution of Judgment fourteen days after the Supreme Court handed down a ruling in her favour absolving her of gross neglect of her duties. The Belize City Council had twenty one days in which to file an appeal. This latest development means that assets belonging to the Citco and by extension the residents of Belize City have been seized and will be sold off to satisfy the gargantuan debt. Ms. Miller has long since moved on to greener and more fertile pastures…no doubt contentedly sipping on her favourite Ménage à Trois wine paid for, this time, by the KHMH where she is now the Human Resources Manager and is raking in a six-figure salary yearly for the length of her two year contract. The selection of items seized at first seems random and nonsensical. However, it is only upon closer inspection that it can be ascertained that it was done with cold calculation and precision in order to exact the most damage financially, politically and to the daily operations of the Belize City Council. This move is aimed at the heart and soul of Belize City and means to kill the already downtrodden morale and joy of residents who are plagued by poverty, unemployment and crime. The council had a hard time in locating that same equipment that had been missing and which the very same Ms. Miller could not account for during her time as City Administrator. The kidnapping of the City’s Christmas tree, however, is a new low and is an act of extreme spite. “Cindy Lou Who: Santa, what’s the meaning of Christmas? The Grinch: Vengeance!” Ms. Miller was a politically appointed employee at City Council. It stands to good reason that the life of her contract should never have extended beyond the mandate of the council that employed her. As a matter of principle, ethics, reason and good judgment, all of which she is sadly lacking, Ms. Miller should have tendered her resignation to the newly elected mayor and left after a mutually agreed on transition period. Despite the court rulings, as the PM Borrow has often repeated “factual guilt is not the same thing as legal guilt.” Therefore, we must consider that when Ms. Miller made out the check for the payment of Joe Bradley’s unauthorized $6,361.00 fry chicken and beer spree over at Chon Sing Restaurant, she may have not been guilty of mismanagement and dereliction of duties by law, only perhaps in fact. Let us further consider that a loan given to a private individual, not a member of the Belize City Council, was left uncollected for over a year, this amounted to factual guilt of non- performance but not necessarily legal guilt. In the same way failure to alert the Mayor and Council that legal documents needed to be filed in order to prevent the Council from losing close to one million dollars was not legally non-performance, only perhaps factual. The continuous abuse and corruption has been rampant and glaringly obvious and no amount of legalese can hide, explain or justify the horror. The UDP certainly have got all their tinsel in a tangle and have sent in their Grinch to do the dirty work of stealing Christmas from Belize City residents. The UDP have sent their Merry Grinchmas greetings early to Belizeans. We need to recognize that these methods are vivid and clear reminders of the vindictiveness and arrogance of this UDP government. #dgrinchthiefxmas

El Grinch que robó la Navidad
E
#dgrinchthiefxmas

QUESTIONS TO THE MINISTERS
Some months ago, the Leader of the Opposition asked Works Minister Rene Montero to provide the number of persons and amount being compensated for land on the road rehabilitation program between Roaring Creek and Santa Elena. The Minister said that $13 million was budgeted for land compensation. Considering that since that question was asked the Minister was only able to account for $1 million of the $13 million, will Minister Montero please account for the remaining $12 million that was not provided in his written response? 2. Will the Minister of Health please inform the Belizean people the value of the amount of expired medicines and medical supplies currently in storage and why he refuses to bring this to the National Assembly for write-off? 3. Will the Minster of the Environment please explain to the Belizean people the reason for insisting on the licensing of domestic parrots and, if so, will a fee be charged and, if a fee is charged, would that fee not be considered as a parrot fee? 4. Considering that the tax department went into the newly opened Mesopotamia sewing program, which seeks to assist single parents from south side Belize City with meaningful employment, will the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance please inform Belizeans of the progress of the BTL audit and whether or not the tax department intends to collect the more than $29 million dollars in unpaid taxes by BTL? 5. Will the Prime Minister and head of government agree with the statement expressed by his cabinet colleague Godwin Hulse when he asserts that the Report of the Senate Select Committee on the Immigration Hustle was long overdue? And will the Prime Minister also agree that the Committee, which was chaired by the disgraced senator Aldo Salazar, who recently claimed he is too busy to complete his mandated task and whose comments resulted in his chastisement by the NTUCB calling Salazar’s excuse lame, since the Report has been pending for over two years, should have already submitted their Report is an accurate comment?

Party Leader’s Weekly Message
‘Lererun Garifuna Laguchabei Labagaridun Garifunaduau!Garifuna Language is the Foundation of Garifuna Survival!’ Hi Everybody. This year Garifuna Settlement Day activities will, among other things, focus especially on the Garifuna language. Of course, we will all enjoy and appreciate the culture in our various ways, but I like the fact that those who decided the theme, wanted the Garifuna Language to be at the center of this year’s celebrations. The theme in English says: “Garifuna Language is the Foundation of Garifuna survival.” We all have a role to play in ensuring the survival of the Garifuna language, but more important is the recognition by our Garinagu Belizeans that they must do all possible to preserve their mother tongue for as the language goes, so goes the culture. We all love Garifuna food and music, we love to dance Punta on the beaches across Belize, especially at this time of year. Of course, I am no dancer, but I do try from time to time, but while we enjoy the food, music and the dance, we must also recognize how fragile it all is. Today less and less of our Garifuna children are learning the language. Less and less of our Garifuna Belizeans are taking the time to learn all they can about their history and their ancestors, and when these things are gone, when the traditions are lost, and the language goes mute, then the entire culture is lost. We can’t let this happen, so let us celebrate with our Garinagu family and friends. Dance, sing and enjoy the wonderful dishes, but also let us encourage our Garinagu brothers and sisters to teach us Garifuna and more important let us encourage them to teach it to their children. As I confessed earlier, I may not be the best at dancing Punta, but I sure will keep trying. Happy Garifuna Settlement Day and may this rich and beautiful part of our Belizean culture live on from generation to generation. Seremei

BELLY of the
BEAST
Caye Cruise After he suffered a mental breakdown and sulked for a bit, Patsy apparently pulled up his big boy briefs and decided he’s not going down without a fight – or a trip to the cayes, as the case may be. Over the weekend he rented a catamaran and loaded it up with delegates and supporters and headed to Rendezvous Caye for a day of drinks and fun and politicking, of course. According to the boy who would be king, he managed to round up 150 delegates who he says are in his camp and will support him for leader. We at the Belize Times figure that ‘all about the base’ thing may have worked once, but it won’t work twice. Porky pig from Belmopan is being backed by big money, a lot of it from his personal best friend Gapi, and he’s been heard to tell those close to him that no matter what it takes this time, he’ll be leader of the UDP come February 2020. Poor Boy There is a video being circulated by Jamal Bin Laden Shyne Moses Ben Leviy Barrow which shows the US Chargé d’Affaires singing him Happy Birthday at a function. People were clapping and cheering and everything, and everybody was all smiling and stuff, including the birthday boy. But we feel it’s just a sad, sad thing. It’s like being invited to your friend’s house, but they tell you that you can’t go inside because they don’t want you there. But, if you like, you can stand by the window and look inside for as long as you want. Poor Jamal. He wants to get back to the US so bad he probably screams Trump’s name in his sleep. Thing is…it’s not going to happen. We know this guy well - from the time he was deported to Belize. What you’re seeing is all an act. He’s hoping he can convince the good people of Mesopotamia to elect him, and that the UDP will win, and then he’ll be able to get a diplomatic passport to the US and that will be the end of that. Ain’t no shine to this guy. He’s just a petty scam artist. In the end, the truth will always come out. Shame on Shyne Whenever the camera is on Jamal, he’s always spouting some crap about his love for the people of Mesopotamia. If it’s one thing the prodigal learned from the deadbeat, it’s how to spin crap into gold. Recently the PUP candidate in Mesopotamia opened a centre with sewing equipment where mostly single mothers can actually learn a skill and earn a decent living for their families. Word to the Belize Times is that Jamal put in a call to Daddy, who is the Minister of Finance, and the Tax Department immediately paid a visit to the centre to harass them. Can you believe that? All these rich people owing taxes and living large, and the Tax Department has time to harass single mothers at a centre which was set up specifically to improve their lives. Jamal has no love for the people. He believes, like his uncle Finny, that the people should always be dependent on politicians for handouts, because they’re easier to control that way. For Jamal, and for the UDP, the end is very near. Wait for it. Spotlight on Khalid We understand that the people of Belmopan are calling on the Integrity Commission to conduct an immediate investigation into the finances of the Mayor of Belmopan, Khalid Belisle. That’s what the Commission is for right, to investigate allegations of illegal enrichment? The people are asking where in the hell could the Mayor have gotten almost $2MILLION to build a home which could probably house ten different families. The people are also asking the Integrity Commission to check out the timing of the construction. It seems that Khalid started building shortly after the Hilltop was sold for a measly $400,000 to some guy that nobody has ever seen, the mysterious and elusive Mr. Simplex. The thing is that Khalid has never worked a decent job in his life. He first came to light as Porky Pig’s right hand and some say, boy toy, when his name appeared on a document for Mytheon Solutions. Remember that company? Government departments under Porky’s control were forced to buy credit from Porky, to the tune of millions. But everybody knows that Khalid was just a front. Since then he’s worked pretty much always under Porky (have to get this image out my head), so where did he get about $2MILLION for that mansion? The Belize Times understands that even high-up people in the UDP are pissed at Khalid right now, because whatever Khalid does reflects on Porky, and affects his chances at leadership. We’ll have to see how this one works out. Silent Partner You know what really gets to us? This UDP government can’t find any money to do anything constructive for ‘normal’ Belizeans that really need the help. Every day bright young students are forced to drop out of school because they can no longer afford an education. Right about now, more than 100 UB students are being sent home because they can’t afford the fees. And the government does nothing. But when it comes to their own, they find the money, and it’s always OUR tax dollars used to pamper their own. We at the Belize Times have learned that UDP crony Leila Peyrefitte is now taking up a highly-paid post as Consul to Los Angeles. Peyrefitte has no skills in diplomacy to speak of, and there are many other deserving Belizeans much more qualified, so we figure this posting is either to soothe ruffled feathers after she lost in Caribbean Shores to Lee Mark, or just a simple gift because she is the silent partner of the Prime Minister’s right hand, the CEO in the OPM. If this case can be seen as another case of almost nepotism, then it’s a whole other story. It’s way past time for this crap to end.

In the summer of 2019, Јuѕtісе Соurtnеу Аbеl had оrdеrеd Аndrе Vеgа tо rерау $400,000 given іn соmреnѕаtіоn by government fоr рrіvаtе lаnd hе, Vega, bоught for some $15,000 from аn аѕѕосіаtе but whісh ѕhоuld nоt hаvе bееn ѕоld in the first place. Vega refuses to return the money and thus hаѕ арреаlеd. Нis aim is tо gеt thе еntіrе јudgmеnt ѕеt аѕіdе. Funny!! The public who the government should be defending definitely sees this as shameless rhetoric for money corruptly passing into Vega’s hands. He, the father, was even forced to resign
from Cabinet. And no, that was NOT punishment. Even the return of the 400K is not punishment. Even the beating the Ramon Cervantes will give Vega is not punishment. There should be more. Bringing in another issue to compare, it is so revealing that Candice Miller can venture into crow footing less than 21 days after her judgement for her almost 400,000 dollars BUT the people cannot crowfoot Vega for the taxpayers money. And what about the snail mediation for Sharon Pitt’s 400K in the twin to the Vega compensation. UDP corruption all the way.

Noble: Slapped on the Wrist It appears that if you are a well-connected UDP, even if at the lowest ranks of the Party, you are allowed to get stupid drunk, get into your vehicle and knock down and kill, and get away with a slap on the wrist. On Christmas Eve, 2016, Gilbert Myers was heading home to his family on his bicycle after a hard day’s work, grocery bags on his handlebars, when he was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by the Editor of the UDP rag, the Guardian. There are credible reports that as Myers lay on the ground breathing his last, a clearly intoxicated Noble took pictures of him which he later shared with his friends. Today, despite Police stating at the time that Noble was obviously drunk, and despite the fact that Noble refused to provide a specimen for testing, and despite the fact that an innocent man was killed by him, the Guardian Editor walked out of the Court with less than a slap on the wrist. He was ordered to pay a fine of $3000 – for the life of a family man – and he doesn’t even have to pay it
right away. He has nine months to pay it. This is a UDP orchestrated travesty. This is the type of country we live in, where there is one set of laws for UDP with connections (or no laws at all) and another set for ‘normal’ Belizeans. This is an injustice to Gilbert Myers who was killed through no fault of his own, and an injustice to his family. The UDP MUST pay, and PAY DEARLY, for this miscarriage of justice.

UDP TAX DEPT. VISITS THE MESOPOTAMIA COMMUNITY SEWING CENTRE November 12. 2019 The United Democratic Party government got a few million dollars a few weeks ago to strengthen tax administration in Belize. So they immediately write off 90 million owed by Sedi and other wealthy landowners—corrupt. Darn. Also, they triple shamelessly attempt to shame the Mesopotamia Community Sewing Center alleging it is an illegal enterprise. Now...that is really messed up. The real story is that this is an attempt to stifle the progress being made in Mesopotamia by Standard Bearer Candice Pitts. This ‘Sew to Grow’ program is her brainchild. The Deportee cannot get his daddy to give
Connecting Orange Walk North with the world: Internet a Basic for Education, Communication & Entertainment
by Josue Carballo Ramon “Monchi” Cervantes, Orange Walk North PUP’s Standard Bearer has begun a very ambitious program – Free Wi-Fi at the Parks. This Sunday the program began with the inauguration of free Wi-Fi at the Trial Farm Central Park. This is a visionary step, one intended to network Orange Walk North residents with the world, the internet being a necessary and basic tool needed for education, communication and entertainment. Monchi is fully aware that many families are in need of good internet, but due to the harsh living conditions under a UDP Central Government, many cannot afford it at home. As such, together with the support of the private sector and ISP’s such as Smart and Centaur he shall equip these public spaces with FREE Wi-Fi access. Students in these communities will have the platform to do experiments, research and development in preparation for a brighter future. Internet access will thus expand the knowledge of students, teachers and parents, while offering free access to communicate with family at home and abroad. With the support of his people, Monchi hopes to reach out to other parks in the near future. A true visionary, we say thank you Monchi for working hard for the people of Orange Walk North.
him any ideas. His daddy gave him the UDP Standard Bearer seat to Mesop but forgot the give him ideas on how to actually work. Dean has no idea himself. Barrow thought that following the Finnegan model was enough. Actually that Finny model is what has the people of Mesop in poverty. The people need jobs and decent wages—one that the UDP was unwilling to raise from an indecent 3.30 per hour. Leave the mothers and young ladies alone to work. Help them succeed. Give them an incentive. Use the foreign money and collect the 90million from the landowners and collect the unpaid balance from the Perdomo loan use to fulfil Joshua’s dream to study forensics for Texas not Belize.

UDP INFAMY:
Victimization
The infamy of turning hardworking Belizeans into victims is definitely one that history will paste all over the UDP’s slimy walls. The victimization of anyone who even wore blue was tantamount to sin and probably beyond lawfulness. When the Prime Minister of our jewel will shameless say it is the UDP’s turn to enjoy the spoils of the election victory, it is high crime spilling over. There are no spoils; election victory came after the PM promised ALL of Belize to rid Belize of corruption one slice at a time and sharply protected. There was no promise of some Belizeans being more equal than others. There was no promise of lawsuits gone wild with fees being collected by the Barrows. Even lawyers were victimized since suddenly they saw all the juicy government cases going to a few. Were the Sanctuary Bay fees not good enough? Land leases received from the government prior to 2008 General Elections fell victim to abnormal processing and the PM’s horrible and infamous Quitar. Along with the abnormal Gapi they went ahead to rid hard working Belizeans of their land leases. A Quitar that people wish to hear about today is 800 Thousand from Andre Vega and Sharon Pitts. Gapi Vegas’s coconut trees are definitely planted on the wrong piece of real estate. These should have been shared with the farmers of Belize. Poor land owners are also VICTIMS of the UDP’s ruthless administration and
their Get Rich scheme. The companies that were used to bidding and competing for the building of roads and infrastructure suddenly found that Imer Hernandez was getting the better of the tenders. If you were even marginally affiliated to the PUP you could forget any contract. The abuse of the tendering process has been there for 12 long years. This was victimization at its best. No one will ever forget the working mothers that worked as school wardens. They were unceremoniously given the boot by, now seeking leadership, Faber. He shamelessly admitted that it was the turn of the UDP to get jobs. This was probably even illegal but who cared? Any protest was met with a giant wall. The UDP did not care that they were given a mandate to work for everyone and transparently. Victimization became common place in Belize and almost normalized as what to expect from the UDP government. There was no one to turn to. Even our PUP leaders were victimized with trumped up charges. These were quickly quashed as having no basis by the courts. The UDP spent their first 100 days and beyond victimizing and forgot to attempt to govern. After 12 years it can be surmised that Belize received a Trumpian administration in 2008—incompetent, petty and corrupt. Belizeans today are hopeful that a new PUP government will redeem the victimized to a glorious path of flourishing under the shade of a Belize that will work for everyone.

THE BELIZE TIMES
OJ ROGUE UDP Thursday, November 14, 2019 The past week, the UDP’s Orson Elrington, who has deluded himself into believing that he actually has a chance against the PUP powerhouse Francis Fonseca in Freetown, was caught acting the fool – something he does more often than not.
Weaponization of Falsehoods: Fuel prices et al Every other week, Belizeans have to review their budget as fuel prices are invariably higher each time. The lowering of prices once in a while seems negligible and it hurts. Its grip is exacerbated when you realize that the region all have prices that are much less and does make you gasp. The pain increases when you see your dollars and cents going to a government that is corrupt. The jerk increases when you pay for hospital/food/utility bills. The farce is blatant when your child is sent home for the non-payment of school fees. The ire grows 40,000 times when UB issues a list of students who will be scratched due to non-payment. Your damnation of the UDP government is real when you remember that they were to build a small refinery. There was never a plan for this just like the DNA lab farce. Belizean indignation grows when again they offer you a onetime ‘blu buay’ to vote for them again. After four years of suffering, or wait, eight years of torture or, hold one, TWELVE years of lies, this is criminal to the umpteenth power. Fulling office buildings with voters who claim it as a home is a damn high crime. Nationalizing people to stock up the voters list is 2012 will not be allowed. The UDP deserves more than to be voted out. They must be held accountable. The only Weaponization of Falsehoods has been at the behest of the United Democratic Party. They targeted Belizean families, pulled the triggered and killed their dreams. There is no pardon to pardon that cold-bloodedness. It is time to leave, UDP....Dean Barrow show a smidgen of a conscience. Quit letting the Civic be misused and teach them some Civic Pride…Do the right and honourable thing. UDP “leaders in waiting”, don’t wait for Dean to call elections; Resign en masse and history will be kind to you. Do it now...give yourselves a truly good Christmas. Quit the Weaponization of Falsehoods.
Elrington appears to be doing everything possible to earn the moniker Unguided Missile Jr. According to a release from the Belize City Council, Elrington removed two backboards from the rims on the basketball court, and also painted his name on the Court. It is believed that after heated discussion with himself somewhere in his peabrain, Elrington convinced himself that he has the authority to paint his name on facilities in Freetown, despite the fact that the responsibility for all the parks and playgrounds in the city belongs to the Belize City Council. But in a move which is politically bizarre, but not surprising, Elrington took to social media to accuse the City Council of removing the back-
boards to spite him. Imagine that! The Council, in its release, explained that it hardly had the time to engage in such brazen politicking, pointing out that despite Elrington behaving like he has all authority to do what he will in the park, without the permission of the Council, it had even offered him garbage receptacles and cleanup after the event. In its release, quite rightly, the Council stated that there should never and will never be politics in sports, as far as it is concerned, and advised Elrington to stop wasting time on social media antics and outright lies. PUP Area Representative Francis Fonseca also weighed in via release, reminding Elrington that every basketball court, every football field and every park in Belama Phases 1-3 were built under the PUP. “Despite this fact, you will not find a single Francis Fonseca sign on any sports facility in Freetown nor will you find any sports facility painted in PUP
2019
party colors. Francis Fonseca’s position has always been and remains that POLITICS HAS NO PLACE IN SPORTS.” This is not the first time that Elrington has been caught red-handed playing the idiot. He did the same thing during basketball tournaments hosted by Caribbean Shores’ Kareem Musa, back when he was contemplating running in that division. We at the Belize Times feel the same about Elrington, as does the Belize City Council. He is hardly worth writing about, and he is a total waste of time as a politician. His arrogance is misplaced, as is his delusion of grandeur. We are grateful that the people of Freetown have seen through his lies and shameless politicking, and we are confident that they know the calibre of Francis Fonseca, and the mettle of this fool who misrepresents the UDP in that division.

THINK ABOUT IT BELIZE’S TOP STUDENTS ALEXIS GUY, DAYANA MARROQUIN, ANGIE MATUTE Josephine Flowers, acting Principal of Edward P. Yorke High School and her teachers are “ecstatic” according to Channel 5 report. They have every right to be. For the second year in a row, they have produced the top scorers in the CSEC examinations. This is a major, major accomplishment. Acting Principal Flowers told the media the students performances must also be credited to the commitment of the students’ parents. She gave kudos to her awesome teachers. Students, teachers and parents put in extra hours including on weekends. It is an incredible story. In the midst of violent crimes, cancerous poverty, the grinding unemployment and marginalization of Creoles, Garinagus, East Indians and poor people, these students, their parents and their teachers could achieve such outstanding results. This year, not one, not even two but three Ed P. Yorke students topped the whole country. The Most Outstanding student nationwide is ALEXIS GUY. Second is DAYANA MARROQUIN, and right there in third place is ANGIE MATUTE. ANGIE MATUTE is also the very first female to achieve the Subject Group award for Technical and Vocational. We are ecstatic too. The Leader of the People’s United Party Hon. Johnny Briceno, who if God is willing, will become our country’s new Prime Minister next year, has drafted special letters of congratulations. The whole country has every right to be proud. These young students-all females- are heroines. They are role models. They are living proof that no matter what the obstacles, we can overcome. The accolades apply to their parents and their teachers. These three students should be guaranteed full scholarships to Sixth Form and University. They should be rewarded a piece a land. LULA Barrack Obama has said that Lula was the most popular politician on the planet earth. Lula da Silva was President of Brazil. Over two years ago he was sentenced to prison by his political enemies, as such he could not run in the upcoming elections. The right wing government of Jair Bolsonario became government. Last week the Supreme Court of Brazil freed Lula on the grounds that a person has a right to exhaust all his appeal process before he can be put in prison. In Belize, some six or so years ago, the Prime Minister changed the law in our country. The law had always been that a person who filed an appeal, once it had some merit, was put on a bond and not allowed to go to jail until his appeal was heard. Barrow changed all that – one Friday in his house of ill-repute. There have been a number of silly laws rushed thru the House of Representatives without the benefit of public discussions and consultations. One of the silliest is the marijuana amendment. UDP humiliates students and forfeits their right to education!
!
November 14, 2019 Dear Editor, In the past week more than 100 students enrolled at the University of Belize were threatened with de-registration from the university due to financial issues. Adding insult to injury, the UDP also published a list of ID numbers for the students that could be seen publicly. Students were then outraged at this breach of privacy. This act interfered in the privacy of each student, did not respect their confidentiality and was not at all conclusive to a healthy learning environment. To make matters worse, this was clearly harassment as stated in the University of Belize’s student handbook which has it defined as “Actions that invade the privacy of another such as threatheninging to disclose , or disclosing, a person’s sexuality or disability to others without permission.” The UDP was more than eager to write of the loan of Joshua Perdomo not too long ago. Yet now when we have students struggling; they subjugate them to the harshest of punishments. If they were quick to write-off an entire forty thousand dollar loan for an over privileged UDP who did not even need such a luxury, then surely they can do it for these students who are struggling to pay their bills. This is clear that the UDP do not have the best intentions for the people of this country as they do not even respect their privacy, and belittle them at any chance they get. Citizens who do not have protected status meet the same fate as these students and are simply discarded and punished, yet those with special privilege like Joshua Perdomo get no penalties and are free to do as they please. This further shows the lengths of depravity of the UDP, and that they stand only for corruption and themselves. Signed By Really Concerned Citizen
