THE THICK SKIN COLLECTION
THICK SKIN Skin is your identity. It is how you are known, the pigment you bare or the marks that make your skin you. Flexures of charred pink and red that take charge of your skin surface, a pattern or print that takes hold. Hands are always exposed: they are constantly on show and everyday they are our most important tools. My hands burn, they itch, they crack and soothing them is sometimes impossible; slathering your skin in thick creams never seems to work. Exhausting every avenue to try and heal and repair skin that you never asked to be broken, the only fix that works is to burn your skin further with rays of UV light that could be more harmful than good, then in a final act of attempted solace hiding under layers of fabric to protect the broken and hurt skin. Healing the skin takes a lifetime or it cannot be healed at all but compared to heeling the self-confidence of a person that is a constant battle. Ugly, broken, exposed, hide I cant face anyone seeing my hands they will think they can catch it too. Be happy with the skin you are in, you are beautiful and this is only skin deep.

THE DRUNK EYES COLLECTION
DSM “Its all in the eyes, vision can blur and a daze takes over. Dancing, shots, laughing so much fun. My feet hurt and I’m sleepy, I cannot find my friends where did they go? stumble, stumble, stumble to find a seat and shut my eyes. Rude awakening here is a bouncer he is very angry and now I must move. I have been kicked out of a club looking at my phone why is it cracked? Here comes my friend she is shouting at me “where the F*** is your shoe?” why is this blurry person so angry at me. Darn my mother is going to kill me, but my biggest concern is where is my shoe? It is Kurt Geiger.” Drunk eyes is a collection inspired by a story of on young students eventful night out to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking too much on a night out. My aim for this collection is to follow my design process to create a collection for the contemporary store DOVER STREET MARKET in London. I found inspiration in the blurriness of a drunk persons eyes: I took photos of eyes and turned them into a collage. I created a print from sketching different messy eyes to represent the “drunk eyes” and using my collection colours manipulating them on Photoshop. The collection will feature digital print but also embroidered eyes to make the design stand out on the garments. Looking at the trend Nocturne from the WGSN Autumn/Winter 17/18 to inform my silhouettes and colour. I wanted this collection to have an urban and contemporary look following my own design ascetic, but also looking at designer such as Gucci Ghost who are already on sale in DSM.
LUCINDA X ADIDAS KNOCK OUT
SPORTSWEAR “KNOCK OUT” is a collection that focuses on the sport boxing, in collaboration with leading sportswear brand ADIDAS. Using the Spring/Summer 18 trend active YOUTH TONIC for colour, silhouette and fabric inspiration, I have created a collection that will work for the wearer’s exercise or casual needs. Boxing can be a competitive sport but can also be used as a form of fitness, for example the increasingly popular ‘boxersize’. “KNOCK OUT” was a phrase that kick started the research stage of this collection, something that I could remember from watching boxing matches. A starting point was to watch famous boxers on YouTube, especially the late Muhammed Ali who I found especially inspiring; the iconic picture of him standing over his recently knocked-out opponent was perhaps the most important image in determining my approach. An important part of my research is what boxers wear in and out of the ring, for example how they wear a robe with the hood up as part of the walk on ritual to build atmosphere with the crowd. Another important part of my research was why boxers only wear baggy shorts in the ring, finding that this helps keep a boxer cool I decided this was important to translate into the shapes and silhouettes of the garments. My collection is targeted at women with a passion for fitness and body confidence to wear garments that will show a lot of skin while exercising. I wanted to create a sports collection that was fashion forward but also fitted within the concept of boxing fashion.
SAVE HAROLD COLLECTION
COLOUR & PRINT Harold is in danger. His home is being destroyed and there is nothing he can do; the rainforest is vast and rich but slowly it is being lost. Harold is an intelligent, beautiful bird but he has never left the safety of his rainforest home and the world is too big for one small parrot. Its time to act, we must save Harold the heartbreak of having to pack up his nest and move. We can all do our bit to stop this tragedy by taking control of the waste we create and recycling sensibly. SAVE HAROLD is a collection inspired by Spring/Summer 18 trend Psychotropical from WGSN. Looking at colour, concept and silhouette I have been inspired by the idea of the rainforest and the colourful tropical birds that can be found there. I developed a print representing the shapes of tropical plants and a stand alone print of a colourful tropical bird called Harold. To design the collection I looked to the brand MSGM for inspiration; to develop the shapes, silhouettes and style of the garments.
LOVE THE SKIN YOU ARE IN COLLECTION
H&M DIFFUSION LOVE THE SKIN YOU ARE IN is the diffusion collection targeted at a different market segment from my main collection THICK SKIN. Teaming up with the high street brand H&M I re contextualised my collection to fit the younger and fresh ascetic of the DIVIDED range which is aimed at young adults or teens. My main collection looked at the issues of embracing ones skin and taking pride in any skin conditions or flaws I wanted this collection to also keep to the same tone but create a playful and colourful print that fitted with the Spring/Summer 18 trend. A distinctive fabric manipulation for my main collection was the hand digital print: inside the drawn hands are lesion inspired marks to represent a skin condition. To offset this I removed the hands that surrounded the marks, instead drawing them free hand in pastel colours. In the collection drawings I have experimented with a new style of illustration that is more playful that my main collection drawings, while remaining within my style identity. I decided to bring in a new colour palette, looking closely at the DIVIDED range which uses many bright, bold colours for its garments to create a sense of fun in the collection.
