THE DOGS Collection

My love for animals started at a young age, I was always around dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens and sheep; but dogs were always my favourite, I feel very relaxed around them. It’s a special bond you have with a dog, and they have a natural ability to read your emotions and lift your spirits.

Dogs have always been part of my life and having had many breeds over the years, I've reminisced about their unique characters as I created this collection. From our current Jack Russell who loves nothing more than mountain climbing or paddleboarding, to working Cocker Spaniels and Labradors. Some of them even make an appearance in the collection.

This collection was a challenge for me as an artist, but I’ve loved every minute of it. Dogs are very different to sheep, and I wanted to do justice to each piece and the unique personalities of each subject. I kept catching myself smiling as I was working on them and I’m really happy with the final outcome. My hope is that it’s another body of work that brings people joy when they see it. It is relatable for those with and without dogs as they show themes of family and friendship. There’s so much more to come with the collection, this is only the beginning.

This stunning 9-piece Dog Collection features a range of bold and captivating titles complimented by soft and delicate pieces. There’s even an imposter in the mix, can you spot them?

Center Barks

These dogs are loving their kennel club and holiday at ‘Center Barks’. There’s all-day fun on the itinerary until somebody spots an unwelcome visitor! Shock, horror, there’s a cat in the camp and stops play. How are they going to handle the intruder, or will the cat outsmart the group? It’s 1:10 odds!

Did Somebody Say Cake?

Pets quickly become one of the family and you often get carried away spoiling them. Birthdays are no different; presents wrapped, dog treats galore, an extra long walk, a new bed perhaps….

but what about the cake? Must be a special birthday!

Doggy Day Care

Inspired by an American School Bus, this is a bright and fun piece that shows a group of lucky dogs on their way to day care looking forward to a day of play. One guy thinks he’s too cool for school and the black spaniel in front, doesn’t quite know what to make of it. No doubt this rag-tag group of pups will be best friends by the end of the day.

Duvet Day

Everyone loves a duvet day. It’s even sweeter with a cute new addition all snuggled up with the parents; safe, warm and cosy. I loved creating this piece as it says so much about happiness and contentment, yet it’s so simple and that’s often the case in life…. ...the simple things are the best.

Online Dating

A few years ago, we had a caramel Cocker Spaniel and a Jack Russell. They were such different personalities, but were the best of friends. They inspired me to create this piece. Online Dating is an obvious play on words and a fun and light hearted piece. You can see that the little Jack Russel has caught the eye of the spaniel. It’s love at first sight and the others don’t get a look in!

Pampered Pooches

All loved up and in their own private spa, these too are enjoying some quality pamper time with lots of bubbles, Pawsecco and a few nibbles for good measure. It’s certainly a dog’s life alright.

Queen Bee

A very playful piece. I imagined the dog and the bumble bee having a conversation as the bee warns the dog to be careful of its nearby hive. This fun and energetic pup bounces around enjoying themself unaware of the dangers. Set on a bright and sunny day but as we all know, once you step on a bee hive; it’s not going to be a good day!

The Naughty Step

Inspired by my time having puppies in our house over the years, this cheeky chap has wreaked havoc whilst the owner was out. It was so much fun, but then Mum or Dad came home and suddenly there’s a spot of bother and the pup is introduced to ‘The Naughty Step’. The guilty look says it all.

The Imposter

Wait, what’s this? There’s an Imposter in the midst! This little minx has worked her way into The Dog Collection…. The Imposter! The cheek of it! It is said that cats are the more intelligent of the two species, so this has definitely set the cat amongst the pigeons. This piece breaks the mould in terms of subject and style of a typical Lucy Pittaway painting! Could this be the start of something new…?

Owning An Original QUALITY

From the materials used throughout the creative process, to the finishing stages of framing and glass selection, a Lucy Pittaway original exudes quality.

Each original is created using hand-made soft pastels. Produced by Unison Colour in Northumberland, these pastels were originally developed by artist John Hersey in the 1980s and provide the level of exquisite colour and texture which Lucy is known for, and the lightfastness of each pastel accommodates Lucy’s vivid and playful creative process. Their longevity is a promise to Lucy, and her buyers, that artworks will remain bold and beautiful over time.

Original works are framed by our trusted and experienced in-house framing team. Frames are chosen specifically for each piece to showcase the quality and character of the original.

The Dogs Collection original pieces include a black bevelled frame and museum quality glass for added protection. Museum quality glass means your original is protected, whilst also reducing any potential glare. It possesses a special coating that eliminates UV light that can cause fading. This means your picture keeps its vibrancy long-term, and the artwork will display without interference.
