EZILI is a holidaywear brand designed for a one-way ticket to somewhere exotic. At its essence, our boutique style brand is about transseasonal (it’s always summer somewhere!) swimwear and resortwear, created from luxe and sustainable fabrics at an attainable price point. A collection of modern staples for the modern muse - think sun drenched goddesses, members of the jet set and poolside beauties with the desire to express themselves through style. How did you start Ezili? It was a long time coming really after years of fashion degrees and experience within different aspects of the fashion industry. I was working as a model shooting a lot of swimwear and doing a lot of travelling which was a super fun time in my life, but gradually I developed this really huge desire to take my schedule into my own hands and create something for myself, rather than just being a part of the process in somebody else's business or journey. Ezili was born and the rest is history. What led you to design? It was really just a passion to create something that I was proud of, that was unique and that I would be excited to wear myself. I've got such a deep love for fashion and travel I wanted to involve myself in something that never felt like a day of work. Bringing to life that rare, hidden gem piece that makes you feel confident and special as soon as you put it on, that is what led to my love of design. How would you define the Ezili woman? Nothing exudes sexiness like self confidence - and that is the Ezili woman. She's spontaneous, fierce, full of fun and i definitely think she is somebody who inspires. Who is on your wishlist to dress? Hailey Beiber is my current style muse. She's edgy and effortless at the same time, and always looks high fashion without necessarily wearing high fashion. How do you think social media has played a role in your success? Social media has been the biggest key factor in the growth of Ezili for so many reasons. Firstly, it is obviously how we promote and sell our pieces, and the easiest way to direct traffic to our website, but beyond that it gives you a chance to stand out in a very crowded room of competitors. Our campaign imagery and general aesthetic is a way to tell the story of our brand and promote a lifestyle aswell as a product, which people eventually buy into. Not only that but the networking opportunities that social media provides, in particular Instagram are limitless. You
quickly learn that opportunities are never easily presented to you, you've got to go out and hustle for every single big break, and social media gives you a direct link to stylists, bloggers and so many valuable people within the industry that can help your product be seen! How does it feel to be a young female business owner in todays industry? I think now is an amazing time to be female in the industry, many of my personal idols are female business owners in the fashion and beauty industry who have made it to the very top and have made the whole process look graceful and seamless! I think women have got it spot on by realising we are stronger together, and more success comes from collaboraitng rather than competing so its like being apart of a huge global support system, and its really inspiring! Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? I would love to have expanded the Ezili team further, and without any doubt we will be expanding further into RTW. Our aim is to become a one stop holiday shop for swim, resort, shoes and accessories all under one bracket. And definitely to pursue the dream of our own runway show. What inspires you to create new collections season after season? It’s a combination of things, but natural spontaneous inspiration is the best! Have you ever seen a girl walking down the street in a gorgeous unique full length dress and your dying to ask where its she got it from?! Or you see a woman reading a book poolside somewhere in a really cool bikini - thats my inspo! I like that we dont follow trends and have more of a focus on special individual pieces rather than fashion seasons and structures. But also seeing the response to current pieces means we can make strong educated guesses on what will work for our next capsules. You slowly learn your customer as time develops and they are the biggest inspiration of them all. If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be? Have a vision - but be flexible. Your own personal journey will change and evolve, and so will your core customers so you have to be ready to adapt to keep your business thriving. As a young entrepreneur, what advice would you give to women wanting to start their own business? Never ever give up! Set your goals and genuinely believe that they will happen, because if you work hard enough they really will! And most importantly, trust your own instincts don't ask too many outside people for advice. Its really tough starting out and there will be a lot of people that don't see your angle, but be passionate, strive to be unique and continue regardless. Images by photographer Katriena Emmanuel

How did you start your brand CHVKER? Chvker Jewelry was born in 2014 when I just moved to a small town for college. Coming from a big city like Houston, the lifestyle changes were extremely drastic for me. I found it difficult to adapt and fit in with the culture and surroundings of the town. When I wasn't studying, I often found myself spending time in my college apartment alone. Being a first generation American, I always liked to stay as productive as possible seeing how hard my parents have worked to give me and my siblings a better life. So I decided it would be a great idea to get back to my childhood hobby- making jewelry! I headed over to Hobby Lobby with only $20 in my wallet and purchased a variety of charms and other jewelry components. I've always been such a huge lover of chokers since I was so young, so it was only fitting that chokers were my first creations. I decided this could be something I can share on Etsy and Instagram.. and that's how my brand came to life over the years. As a child it was always my biggest dream to become a clothing designer (it still is)! The only thing stopping me was my parents's wish for me to become a doctor. I didn't want to disappoint them so I never went down any path besides medical school. Setting off for college was a huge turning point as I was able to pick up a hobby to pass the time. Little did I know I became a step closer to my own dreams.
How would you define the Chvker woman? I actually always thought of Chvker as my alter ego in a way.. I live vicariously through Chvker and her fearless approach to style and life. She is someone who makes the best of every day and seizes every opportunity with grace and love. A Chvker woman is someone who is bold, confident and unapologetically herself. Anyone and everyone can be a Chvker woman. Who is on your wish list to dress? I absolutely love Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Bella Hadid. How do you think social media has played a role in your success? The platform social media has created is so unique and insane! It has opened so many doors for absolutely anyone coming from any background! It is such a special way to share similar interests with other users. I believe the combination of aesthetic content, giveaways and influencers has accounted for a huge portion of the brand's success. Hard-work and staying on top of trends has helped my company stand out on social media.
How does it feel to be young female business owner in today’s industry? None of this has hit me yet, but sometimes I do wake up and I'm like WOW! This is actually my life now. I start everyday with a smile from ear to ear knowing that I am able to live out my dreams and do what I love! It's an amazing blessing that I am always thankful for, especially at my age. I hope my story can be inspiration for other young women out there who has the same aspirations. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In the next 5 years, I not only want to be designing jewelry but also clothes and other women's wear. Like any proud mother, I want Chvker to grow and blossom into a house-hold brand loved by everyone. I hope the brand can continue to bring joy and inspiration into people's lives. As cheesy as it sounds, I hope to be happy and content with life no matter the outcome. What inspires you to create new collections/ designs season after season? I always look at random objects and can visualize pretty ways to arrange them or turn them into a picture perfect image. I love looking at nature, different fabrics, textures, colors, lighting and drawing inspiration. Life is colorful and filled with so much beauty, it's hard not to be inspired. If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career what would it be? I wish I could tell myself that everything will be absolutely OKAY. I've spent so many sleepless nights and lonely days investing all of my energy into building a brand (also while balancing schoolwork), and it just got so rough! I did question everything several times.. like is this worth it? Is there an end goal to all of this craziness? Starting from the ground up without any experience or help can be more difficult than one can imagine. I think it would have eased my mind knowing back then that future would be bright and beautiful! As a young entrepreneur, what advice would you give to women wanting start their own business? Start now and don't give up! It is tough and no one else will understand the lifestyle changes you have made and sacrifices you have given.. but dont let that stop you! It's not always easy to follow your dreams, it is only natural that there are ups and downs. Hard work, dedication and perseverance will guide you towards success!

is Angela Garcia, I'm from Colombia, based

Due the Corona virus situation all work was cancelled, no editorial shoots, no collaborations, nothing happening, so I decided to take an adventure and do an editorial on myself. Before the quarantine started to be enforced, I managed to borrow some props from the art director I usually work with @reutch, and some clothes from a friend who is an amazing designer @boobamacho. I did the shoot in my bedroom; I modeled, did my makeup and hair, and styling. I set on the camera the frames I wanted and let the temporizer to the magic. It took me 2 days of shooting to get it right, and keept me busy other 2 days for the post production work. It was very challenging and interesting! Creating beautiful imagery is my passion and I hope I will be able to keep creating during this difficult time.
