This was our way of escaping long-running Moscow winter, the monochromatic existence, where the city and the sky have become one indistinct grey blur. We were ready to create our own, more colorful reality. Our model Nile was perfect for fulfilling the idea of a rich, vivid picture. When he arrived on the set, we got inspired to transform our moodboard and what has been prepared stylewise and in locations started living its own life while we improvised. His unique appearance has led to new unpredictable ideas with clothes and accessories’ textures, composition solutions and going for colorful curtain-canvas rather than complex interior sets. You dont need to be looking for a deeper meaning in this editorial, it was purely a visual story on collaborations of textures and lines in make-up and a game of color spectrum harmonies. Make-up complemented each image, placing details and emphasizing facial features. Camera angles, multilayer color solutions: from deep green monochromatic to complex multicolor, playing with light and skin tones is merely there as association triggers, helping you feel, “hear” and “taste” the color.

Dusty pink hues and metallic hints fuse to give life to this romantic series. These colors in combination with Ashley’s old world beauty serve as the inspiration for this period piece. Bright copper, silver and brassy pigments brushed onto her skin arouse a sense of regality, while her concealed eyebrows allow for more distinctive features to become the focal point this story. This series spotlights Ashley’s ears, elongated neck and spine as traits to marvel. Embracing these otherwise “peculiar” features, and celebrating them, challenges conventional beauty. The accessories tell their own story. Silk gloves, plush fur and delicate lace paint a softness, while the thick embellished choker, jeweled bodysuit and chained headpiece create a sense of strength. BENEATH THE VEIL is inspired by the shapes and colours of the ocean’s corals. Throughout this story, you will see many shades of coral colours (Colour of the Year 2019 - Living Coral, according to Pantone). Some are vibrant and warm, like the neon orange pattern framing the models ear and some are turned down and cool, just a transparent wash over the cheeks and lips…
The styling inspired by the shapes of coral and the ocean involves ruffles, lace and large stoned jewellery. The looks are soft and feminine, reflected through the use of transparent clothing with a period feel. Dramatic head dresses made from the materials from local haberdashers gives an extra dimension the various shapes. Working in part with the models own hair and adding a faux fringe to create the look, the hair compliments this seasons’ colours in makeup. The darkest brunette contrasts perfectly with it all. The fringe dramatically dishevelled almost ‘chewed’ like texture brings out the natural beautiful features and bone structure of the face. Culminating in a smooth conical shape wrapped around the head giving height on the crown. The concept for THE BREAK OF DAWN developed rather organically. Though the team was familiar with each other's work, it was the first time Georgia, Katelyn, Ron and I had aligned on a shoot. We began the process by sharing ideas to see what would stick, but were all over the board - from 70's Cher, to Grecian goddess, to butterflies and insects - and having many ideas is like having none. Somewhere along the way I began to see a thread that would weave the many concepts together: IRIDESCENCE. Through melding the idea of a shimmering color palette, based on ancient Egyptian scarab jewelry, with 1970's disco makeup we were able to bridge the two main ideas. It was my intention to depict the model confidently in a strong, dignified manner, so we needed to find a way to interlace the goddess motif. This connected the story to one of the most famous busts in art history, Nefertiti who was known for worshipping the sun disc, Aten. The team and I spent several weeks compiling images on a Pinterest board, editing and ordering them until we arrived on a group that would be the foundation for the story. It was important that these themes conceptually underpin the shoot rather than become literal translations. A scarab necklace, Egyptian eyeliner, or pair of large sunglasses would have overshadowed the looks, making the images a caricature. I personally think that photographs stay fresh and modern, holding on to their authenticity, when they walk the line between inspiration and appropriation. The last piece of the puzzle was using lighting descriptively. I worked with gelled strobes, tungsten, and LEDs, sometimes mixing them with long exposures to establish the cyan/gold color tone. Backlighting the sinuous figure of the beautiful Taryn Vaughn helped to create the nuance of iridescence. It is sometimes hard to visualize the end product of a shoot particularly with a broad storyline and a fresh team... but I'm really happy with what we were able to achieve!

The starting point for “FUSION” came from looking at contrasting prints and colours that compliment each other. We wanted the styling to show bold, bright and adventurous ways to merge different trends together as one. Using designer brands including Gucci, Mother of Pearl, Rejina Pyo and House of Holland – the statement pieces are shown through movement from the model duo. Powerful poses and connections between hands and bodies show friendship and union throughout. The make up looks were changed for each outfit, and as the two models have different skin tones the bright eye and lip colours were used to compliment this, and each other. The story should make you feel confident, uplifted and ready to escape the comfort zone.

The idea of the editorial ‘DESERT ROSE’ came to my mind about an year ago, while passing through an unknown highway about 2 hour drive from Mumbai, while passing this place instantly attracted my attention, The Huge Cacti! I stopped the car and drove back to this place instantly, not an easy road, I walked close to get the real feel & gaze of the terrain. I was in love with the place and the summer deep blue sky was giving this an amazing backdrop. I instantly knew that I want to shoot an editorial at this place for sure. Reaching home, I saved the images in my bank made a mood-board but just couldn’t share it with anyone. Commercial work was keeping me busy. I had planned the styling mood in a colour block fashion as that would stand out at this location very well. Time passed by and I forgot about this idea. After about six months, I met the Duo Stylist Shounak & Pranay from WHO WORE WHAT WHEN. We always wanted to work on something interesting, so I just bounced off this idea to them, they were in love with it when they saw the mood-board with location, we started planning the shoot and dates but due to some reason, were not able to finalize one. Time just kept passing & one fine day of Feb, I connected WHO WORE WHAT WHEN again and said guys lets close a date for this and start planning. We finally fixed a date and started putting rest of the team & planning together. I really wanted a strong model for the story as the terrain is so strong, the model needs to carry it with real good body language and expressions. we closed on Suzanne from agency Anima creatives, as she has amazing features and had changed her look recently with her short hair, it was just going perfect. Along with the model, we also got Tashi, the makeup artist on board. Tashi has amazing hair and makeup ideas to take the story forward, we gave her total creative liberty. She came up with certain ideas and we zeroed down on some. Finally on the day of the shoot we started really very early about 5am in the morning to reach the location before the sunrise, as I wanted to catch the morning light. We did the Hair & makeup at a food court along the highway very close to the location and headed to the place. I knew the location had vast option to play around but a certain limitation to play with colours, so I added some colour gels to filter the direct sunlight to create some drama along with the colour blocking clothes. I feel it had added a beautiful character to the shots. We did about 8 clothing changes, it was an exhausting summer day, but the efforts really came pouring and we could make some amazing pictures. When the idea first came up, i wanted to photograph only yellow stuff in front of grey. It was a bit hard to find a team who wanted to do that. Somehow not many where interested in a color based story. But when i had my team and we decided to take a pink backround it was so much fun. The stylist brought so many cloth and Accs so we could do a lot of diffrent outfits. I also painted my chair yellow and since then see the color everywhere. I have to force me to stop painting all my mobiliar. And The Model, Caro was so gorgeous, we all quickly fell in love and even made a beautystory at the end. She is really special. It was an amazing day! Lovely Team.

We had to work fast to find the idea, the model and to edit the photos because just had one week for the end of the advertisement Lucy´s pastel beauty submission. We gathered some items that we had, like transparent color shapes, sequins and anything else we could find. The final idea was to have light makeup with some geometrical shapes to put on the model’s face. For the background I painted different big surfaces to beautifully combine with the makeup and overall color. Thanks to Jochu, who was able to find such an amazing model! Really lucky for us to meet Paula! She has an amazing smile and was lovely to work with. We are all excited to share this with you :)
