1870

Reigate Priory’s history can be traced right back to 1870, not long after the FA was actually formed in 1863.

In 1871, the club was one of only 15 teams that contested for a £20 silver trophy, the first ever FA Challenge Cup competition.

Reigate priory were also present when the surrey FA (founded in 1887) decided

to become affiliated to the FA on the 16th march 1882. the club was one of the original 10 teams present at the meeting that took place in Guildford.

At the same time a County senior Cup competition was introduced. The first winners of the surrey senior Cup were Reigate priory who were victorious six times before the end of the century.

priory also made an excursion into European Football in 1910 where they won the International Cup du nord beating Cercle Athletique paris 3-0 in the Final.

the club currently plays in the Gray Hooper Holt LLp mid sussex Football League, with four senior sides playing across the divisions. the Reigate priory Veterans (over 35’s) continues to be an integral part

OUR 1st tEAm

The pinnacle of the club encompasses the ethos and direction the whole club is moving towards. A club at the heart of the community which prides itself on being able to provide a social release from the stresses of every-day life, the volunteers of the club also aim to mentor and provide social, emotional and mental support to our young men whilst achieving success on and off the pitch.

Our 1st team in recent years have seen that success on the pitch having moved across to the mid-sussex Championship in 2020. Our 1st season we established ourselves as a competitive force before winning the league title convincingly in 2021/2022. Another year of consolidation followed in our 1st season in the mid-sussex premier division in 2022/23 before achieving promotion with the most amount of goals scored and the

2nd best defensive record in 2023/2024 to the southern Combination Football League division 1. this is the highest level our club has ever played at (step 6) and in a league which is largely semi-professional with players being paid to play, our club remains true to its ethos and puts the whole of the club before any one team. therefore our 1st team players are still expected to contribute financially to the overall club to help with

the running costs, unless they can find sponsorship to cover those costs.

there has been a strong core of the team throughout our recent successful period and even when players have moved on, they’ve remained within the club which is the highest compliment a player can pay us. Championship winning captain scott Johnson led the team through this period

and has since captained our reserves to a league title and cup final. Josh Wille and Callum Johnson remain in the side having first played for us in Surrey South Eastern Combination Intermediate division 3 and others have joined to enjoy our success in recent years including max and Alex Bicknell, nick walsh and now Captain and Head Coach Joe Elbishlawi. we aim to continue strengthening our squad through having a

genuinely brilliant atmosphere at the club, but also to continue progressing individuals and supporting them with opportunity that may be outside of the club. youngster sam Luard is an example of a player who came through our youth system, into the first team to win the Championship, helping us achieve promotion to step 6 and now we’ve supported him on his journey to a team at step 5. the ambition dale (manager) and Arun

(assistant manager) have for the team, is to get into the preliminary round of the FA Cup for the first time since its inception in 1871. we have entered the FA Vase for the first time since the 1970’s which is a huge step in the direction towards achieving this goal and will keep pushing towards the top of our new division over the coming years in order to increase our chances of invitation to the FA Cup.

REsERVE tEAm

Over the past two years, our reserve team has achieved remarkable success, with two promotions and a triumphant victory in the division 1 mid sussex League last season. Additionally, we reached the final of the Cup, showcasing our determination and skill.

Our squad is a vibrant blend of experienced players and promising youngsters,

creating a dynamic environment where talent and wisdom flourish together. We firmly believe that many of these players will become the future of our club.

this seAson, our Ambition is cleAr:

we aim to secure yet another promotion whilst supporting our first team to the

best of our abilities. We are committed to playing football in a way that emphasises enjoyment and passion for the game and co-managers Ricky & Ben are outstanding at getting the buy-in from their lads and everyone pulling in the same direction.

We had a truly memorable season. Unbeaten in the first 7 games, then the finishing straight of the last 7 games winning all of them, which lead them to glory over second place by just 1 point.

A season that will stay in club members memories for years to come and manager tristan is looking forward to the new challenge that lies ahead having achieved a double-promotion.

B tEAm

Our B Team had a season of transition in 23/24 having successfully nurtured some brilliant young talent in 22/23 who leapfrogged our A Team to strengthen what became a very successful reserve team this season.

we have had some fantastic support from our C team and recruited some new players, but given the blend of new players and a change of management mid-season, the lads were able to remain competitive and have real ambition moving into the 24/25 campaign.

C tEAm

We surpassed our initial expectations in 2023/24 despite initially struggling to find their place in a competitive division 6 league.

the team went from strength to strength being the only team to defeat the league leaders, ultimately finishing comfortably in mid-table. As we move forward into the mid sussex division 5 north following a league restructure we look to push on from the solid foundations established last year and attempt a push for promotion and ultimately the title with many of the team we established last season.
