A good level of physical fitness is required for participation. Difficulty level is easy to moderate.

The hiking tours generally last between two and three hours on well-maintained paths with a few, sometimes steep, ascents and descents. These hikes are complemented by city tours and visits.

Of course, you will always have the option to take a rest day on the ship and/or participate in one of the optional AMADEUS excursions. Further details will be provided with your travel documents.

Our adventure on foot starts with a stretch of the Alsace Jakob’s Way, taking you to a highlight of the renowned Rhine Castles Trail. This trail winds through the picturesque Upper Middle Rhine Valley on the left bank of the Rhine, makes a detour to the Moselle, and ends in Königforst near Cologne.

As you hike, you'll explore the rich histories of Strasbourg, Speyer, Cologne, and Amsterdam through engaging guided tours. All of this is seamlessly connected by scenic cruise segments, blending the beauty of nature with vibrant cultural exploration.

Following lunch, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the charming medieval district of “La Petite France“, with its picturesque timber-framed houses lining the Ill River.

3 Speyer 07:00 12:00 Speyer (City tour, approx. 1.5 hours): In the morning, explore the Speyer Cathedral and the well-preserved old town, rich with history and architectural beauty. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your own pace. Consider a visit to Heidelberg, including a tour of the castle as part of the AMADEUS Mannheim 14:00 program ($76 per person).

4 Mannheim 01:00 Oberwesel—St. Goar (Hike, approx. 3 hours): On South-North Stage 4 of the Rhine Castles Trail, hike from Rüdesheim 07:00 12:00 from Rüdesheim over the Oelsberg to the imposing Rheinfels Castle. Experience the Upper Middle Rhine Valley from some of its most scenic viewpoints, offering splendid views of the Lorelei Rock. Koblenz 15:30 In the afternoon, continue to Koblenz, where you’ll have time for a leisurely stroll.

5 Koblenz 06:00 Cochem Moselle Valley (Hike, approx. 2 hours): In the morning, enjoy a panoramic cruise along the Cochem 13:30 18:00 winding Moselle River with its steep vineyards to Cochem. In the afternoon, explore this charming town, crowned by Reichsburg Castle, and savor a wine tasting in a quaint medieval setting.

6 Cologne 07:00 13:00 Kings Forest (Hike, approx. 2 hours): After a visit to the famous Hohenzollern Bridge, known for its countless love locks, discover the wooded nature reserve of Kings Forest. Back in the city, visit the majestic Cologne Cathedral before setting sail for lunch.
