Bird Crate Dimensions

(as per Rainbow crates. Made from two half’s virgin plastic)

Crate Frame Unit Dimentions Below is a Crate Frame Unit. This is what the crate will drop into and hold each crate firmly in possition. Each crate frame unit is made from four pieces of steel. Two of which are box tubes and the other two are L shaped steel with 10mm cuts on either end as shown below. Overall there are 12 ‘Crate Frame Units’ per Module.

Base Dimensions The base is made up from 10 components, This being; two large 75x190x2480 hollow box tube’s for the fork lift forks to go into, four 40x75x790 bracing hollow box section’s and four 30mm diameter x 330L tubes guiding tubes with holes for galvanising. They are all welded together as shown below:

Frame Dimensions Per module there are four frames which stand vertically on the base and hold the crate frame units in place. Each frame is made from 7 pieces of steel; two 40x40x1130 square sections, one 20x40x1090 horizontal top section and four 45deg steel supports which can be made with any dimensions. The frame is welded together as below. The sections all should have holes drilled in for galvanising.

Frame and Base Each of the four frames should be welded into place as shown below.the space inbatween each of the modules should be 774.7mm to allow the right space for the crate frame units to fit within. Once these are in place then add the four top guide rails and frame supports. The two centre guide rails are 30x30x2481.1 and are possitioned as shown below. The two outer frame supports are 40x30x2484.1 and are possitioned as shown below.

Add Crate Frame Units Next are the crate frame units, each of these are to be welded in possition as shown below. The bottom three rows have a distance between them of 262mm but the lat one has a distance of 264mm from the top bar as shown below. After this the end supports are to be added one horizontal 3x75x1090 flat piece welded on the fork rails to protect the crates if the forks miss the holes intended and the other 20x30x1110 welded on the end to provide added ridgidity to the structure.

Steel Tops and Guide Triangles Next three pieces of metal sheeting is to be added as shown below. Each should allow for a 20mm lip bent up which will allow the sheets to be rivited or welded to the guide rails and frame supports. Once these are in place the two guidance triangle are to be welded in place on each side as shown below. Engineer can improvise the measurements of these but follow the height width and length.

The finished module Once the module is finished it is to be drilled and prepared for galvenising.
