1: Process of the air flow The process of the air flow through as shown in Figure 1, 5 steps including 1. Outside air flow in through an exhaust damper 2. The air continuing flow into an air handler system (including the air-conditioning unit), and being heated up or cooled down. 3. Those air that being process in step 2 will continuing flow through a grille and then supply to working space 4. Recirculated air will flow back to the building and mix with the outside fresh air 5. Or being exhausted as exhaust air.

Figure 1: Drawing of the air flow process This assessment requires us to review a single run of ductwork on a mechanical services shop drawing and compare that to run of duct on the consulting engineer’s drawing. Items required to be compare including the duct size, airflow at each grille and calculating the total airflow for duct run, making sure they are corresponding or the shop drawing should always up to standard requirement of engineer’s drawing. The project allocated to me is the Medical Care, Duct run 17. It is a set of duct work run for supplying air. Particular term further finding will be defined and explained in the report. 2: Differentiation of Engineer’s Drawing and Shop Drawing Mechanical Consulting Engineer’s Drawing provides only basic information about design of the system, equipment, airflows, duct sizing and duct insulation. Comparing to the Engineer’s Drawing, the shop drawing has more focus on how and where the system will fit, providing detailed information for the fabrication and installation of the system including equipment, ductwork, air diffusers, pipework, control systems.
