CAREER PROFILE I am currently a Master student of Architecture in Deakin University. I have several years of experience in architecture firms. In this period, I had a chance to work with senior architects in different projects such as residential and hospitality buildings. Chapter 1: Academic



River side market project B.arch studio - 2013

This project challenges students to design a tourism market on the site that adjacent to the old shipyard. The prominent concern is how to optimize the advantages of the shipyard which potentially enhance the interaction between building and water surface. The site plan was first proposed base on analysis such as sun, wind, and water edge. Archicad was used to illustrate this project.

The site is quadrangle shape. Although adjacent to the river, the entrance from the river is limited in the site shortest edge. Therefore, orienting the building to the old shipyard is a priority. Further, South West is the main factor cause heat gain for the building, therefore, this side should be enclosed. In contrast, South East direction of wind thus the building should open to this side.

This unit gives an opportunity for students to look back at their previous project to refine it. First, the student was asked to clarify their initial idea and then develop a design principle which orienting later refinement. Particularly, in this project, a quadrant shape which represents for an opening book was recognized and developed. This project progressively refined from main structure order into details that enhance the experience for users.

This studio proposes a housing type in Melbourne CBC context. Significantly, during the study period, students was suggested to approach their design through section. Besides, ‘collage’ and ‘invisible city’ are material for conceptual proposition.

The collage was created by combining factors of the site. This layout emphasizes contrastion between two sides of Swanton street. One sides is accient buildings with Flinder station while another sides highlights itself by comtemporary architecture of Fed square.

From the invisible city of Calvio: ‘Despina’ city is described as a two face city which giving the visitor a couple of distinguished images. Despina locates between desert and ocean. This city gives the traveler the desire of escaping from their current boring and lonely place. For instance, Camel drivers want to escape from the desert. And the sailors also want to taste new interesting things from the land.

Besides, the story about Despina city reveals the important of the background which can define the meaning of an insides objects. From the sea, the sailors think about a desert city within a typical activity. On the other hand, the camel drivers image a ship and a sea city with logistic life. Therefore, this project proposed iconic buildings as an solution for spatio

connection. Further, crane and shipping container housing are represent for dynamic character of Melbourne.

Previously, working in group with the other two students, we agreed that the current car parking will be move to the back and the front will be the mix-use zone which is the site for this individual project. Relying on the study of the local masterplan. This project propsed an mix use morpohlogy base on pedestrian circulation path. The parking yard was relocated to the back and increased the cappacity. Additionally, the intersection of foopathes become a gathering space for visitor during daytime and it will be returned to the uper residents at nighttime.

The exsiting interchange bus station locates in China town of Hochiminh city where is donimant by small retail business and big retail center often loses in the competition. But the investor cooperated with the goverment to reconstruct the station with uper rental retail. Therefore, the challenge was defined that bring people to the area. From the fact that the local area are lacking of green space and gathering space, our team came up with an idea that creating a community space which attract local people to the new retail space. Further, continuous vertical circulation and accessibility to 1st basement and 1st floor are priority.

The name of this Hotel is ‘Huong Bien’ which mean aroma of ocean. Therefore, the client resuqest design team to bring ocean atmosphere into the room. But, instead of decorate with shell, sea star or the other material of the ocean, the team prefer to propose an imitate the room with warm tone and highlight the blue ocean view of the sea.
