Most thefts of cargo took place in the Venlo region. The Trade Port West industrial area and the Venlo Heide area (A67) were particularly popular with criminals, according to the police. The A67 was, together with the A2 and A73, a hotspot for cargo thieves. The three most common methods are the so-called 'Romanian' method, the use of shears and cutting torches and the more traditional 'sailing cutting'. New trend: High value truckloads are stolen on highly secured truck parking lots.
The reaction times of the police in urgent alerts have improved in 2017 with respect to 2016. On average, the police was at 85 percent of the highly urgent messages within 15 minutes present.
Especially theft, violence and vandalism decrease considerably.
