nion County is home to award-winning wineries and breweries specializing in locally grown ingredients. Whether novice or connoisseur, you’ll enjoy visiting and tasting at our family-run breweries and wineries. UNION COUNTY IS IDEAL FOR A GROWING BEER AND WINE INDUSTRY The wine industry is finding that Union County’s clay soil mix is perfect for growing grapes. The Midwest weather pattern concentrates the sweetness and flavor of the grape in the wet spring, then locks that flavor in with a dry summer, making for optimal grape growing conditions. With renewed interest in craft brewing and locally sourced ingredients, family farms are converting crops and opening malt production facilities to meet the demand. ORIGIN MALT is scheduled to break-ground in 2020 and RUSTIC BREW FARM located in Marysville, makes and distributes Pilsner, Pale, Vienna and Munich malts.

Enjoy tastings, live music and a perfectly lovely patio on your next visit out!

Bigelow Covered Bridge This bridge, also known as the Axe Handle Bridge, was named in honor of Eliphas Bigelow, a nearby resident whose family founded Plain City. In 1990, the bridge underwent an extensive renovation, which included installing massive nail-laminated arches seated into new concrete foundations. Length: 102 feet Built: 1873 Builder: Partridge Spans: Little Darby Creek Historical Marker
Buck Run Covered Bridge This is the third bridge to be on the site. The first was a covered bridge, the second a steel truss bridge and now this modern two-lane covered bridge. This bridge is currently the longest single-span wooden bridge in Ohio.

Culbertson Covered Bridge This bridge was originally located on State Route 4. In 1922, it was moved to its new location on Winget Road. In 1977, a runaround was constructed for farm equipment and other large vehicles to bypass the covered bridge. The original cost of the bridge was $1,375.
Length: 94 feet Built: 1868 Builder: Partridge Spans: Treacle Creek Historical Marker
North Lewisburg Road Covered Bridge In 2006, this bridge was erected to replace the one lane Pottersburg Covered Bridge. This new bridge was built with a modified Pratt truss design at a cost of $1.6 million. Length: 135 feet Year: 2006 Builder: Righter Company Spans: Big Darby Creek visitunioncountyohio.org

Pottersburg Covered Bridge This bridge was formerly in the location of the North Lewisburg Road Covered Bridge. When Honda built their North American headquarters nearby, the one-lane bridge became insufficient for the increase in traffic. In order to save the bridge, it was moved on a trailer to a “rails to trails” project down the road. The Pottersburg bridge is now part of a 1.9 mile paved multipurpose trail. Length: 94 feet Built: 1868 Builder: Partridge Spans: Old Rail Bed
Spain Creek Covered Bridge This quaint bridge is Union County’s smallest covered bridge. In 2008 and 2016, the bridge was rehabilitated after large machinery tried to pass through the bridge and damaged the overhead braces. Spain Creek is designated an Exceptional Warm Water Habitat and Cold Water Habitat by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Glacier Ridge Metro Park 9801 Hyland-Croy Rd., Plain City 614.216.8859 | metroparks.net/parks-and-trails/ glacier-ridge/ Approximately 12,000-17,000 years ago, glaciers that covered much of the area began to retreat, leaving behind large, flat plains. Today Glacier Ridge is a 1,037-acre park with the naturalist in mind. Visitors enjoy biking and walking on the paved trail, cross country skiing, disc golf, horseback riding, birding, and trail running on the looping paths. A “must do” includes traversing on the boardwalk through the Honda Wetlands Area and climbing the 25-foot observation tower to observe the diverse wildlife. Recently added to the park is a nature play area for kids and an obstacle course complete with zip line! Don’t’ forget Fido with the new dog park that sits partially in the woods for more to explore.
