SNOWMOBILING O

swego County’s abundant snowfall and extensive trail system are a snowmobiler’s delight. Nearly 400 miles of trails provide unlimited access to the Tug Hill and Adirondack Park regions. Trail maps are available with membership in one of the ten snowmobile clubs maintaining trails in Oswego County. Volunteers, club dues, and funds obtained from New York State snowmobile registrations all contribute to the development and maintenance of the trails throughout the county. Snowmobiles must be registered and insured while using public trails, and snowmobilers must wear helmets at all times. Riders must stay to the right on the trail. The trail speed limit is 55 mph unless posted otherwise. Children ages 10 through 17 must take a snowmobile safety course and receive a certificate of completion. Youth ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile off their own property while accompanied (within 500 feet) by a person at least 18 years of age. Youth ages 14 through 17 may operate a snowmobile off their own property without an adult. For safety’s sake, please stay on designated trails and stay off rivers and lakes.
