TRAVEL PLANNING

W

hat makes a great meeting? You want to choose an enticing destination — a place your group wants to visit. You need convenient transportation, both getting there and getting around. Cost is important too, but not at the expense of comfort and convenience. The destination must offer versatile accommodations, flexible meeting spaces and unique experiences. Where can you find this in one inspiring package? Arlington, Virginia, has that and much more. Located in the heart of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Arlington is just minutes from the capital city’s world-class museums and monuments. Arlington has upscale neighborhoods that offer exceptional shopping, dining and outdoor recreation. Arlington is home to Reagan National Airport and 11 Metrorail stops scattered throughout its distinctive, walkable neighborhoods. Hotel rates average 20% lower than across the river in Washington, D.C., and all have implemented thorough health and safety measures.

MEETING PLANNER TESTIMONIALS HONOR FLIGHT SAVANNAH

“Since 2009, we’ve been operating two trips per year for our veterans and their escorts. We select Arlington because it is closer to the monuments and Arlington National Cemetery. We really enjoy our relationship with StayArlington. It’s more than just a job for them. We’ve named Portia (our meeting planning representative for StayArlington) an honorary member. A lot of people return from our events saying what a wonderful time they had, and then they come right back to visit with their families.” Larry P. Spears, LT, USN, Ret.-Honor Flight Savannah, Inc. (Founder and Chairperson)

BILLUPS, FERGUSON, HILL, HARRIS, JONES & PEE FAMILY REUNION 2019

“We selected Arlington for the location. We picked the hotel because you were able to see the Washington Monument and the Pentagon. We were very happy with the DoubleTree Hotel, and they hosted our banquet in their rotating restaurant. We liked how convenient it is to access Arlington, and how easy it is to get around. StayArlington sent information packets to our hotel for our group with area maps, brochures and restaurant menus. We went sightseeing throughout the whole Washington area. A bus took us to the Bible Museum and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial where 100 of us stood in our reunion shirts. It was really majestic.” Shirley Robinson (Organizer)

“Arlington was the perfect choice for its easy access to Washington, D.C., which fulfilled the historical significance of Women’s Suffrage. Arlington has its own history and personality that inspired us to not just to have a finale event, but to expand it into a stand-alone conference weekend. As I met with more people within the different groups, I noticed a sincere willingness to assist us with our events. As a planner on the other coast, it is imperative to trust in the onsite team and contacts, and the people of Arlington gave me that confidence and trust. In addition, pricing was very competitive for the area and season. Being willing to understand the guests and why people are coming into the area is a priority trait of any venue, and the Crystal Gateway Marriott and Arlington representatives are excellent at this.” Tigra Tsujikawa (Planner)
