Flexco® sr™
Rivet Hinged Fastening System
Quality and Performance The Flexco® SR™ Rivet Hinged Fastening System has earned a reputation for quality and performance in the most demanding material handling applications on earth. Wherever belt conveyors are used, you need a fastener system that lets you set up, splice, and get out of the way … fast. Flexco SR fasteners deliver the performance, long life, and easy installation that maximize belt availability and help keep productivity on a roll.
Maximum Splice Life, Increased Uptime Flexco Rivet Hinged Fasteners combine top and bottom fastener plates, which are joined at one end by two wide hinge loops. Each pair of plates sandwich the belt end and are secured to the belt with a staggered pattern of rivets. The rivets penetrate the belt without damaging or weakening the belt carcass providing maximum resistance to pull-out and evenly distributed splice tension across the width of the belt. No matter what the belt condition, Flexco SR fasteners are a good choice for both new and older, worn belts. Rivet hinged fasteners can be used on belts ranging from 1/8" to 1" (3 - 25 mm) after skive with pulley diameters over 5" (127 mm). Concerns about comparable vulcanized splice strength can be dismissed as rivet hinged fasteners have a long history of service on belts with mechanical fastener rating of up to 2000 P.I.W. (350 kN/m).
Market Applications • Coal and Hard Rock • Underground and Surface Mining • Wood Processing • Asphalt Plants • Construction and Road Equipment

Flexco® SR™ Rivet Hinged Fastening System
Fastener Overview How the Flexco® Rivet Hinged Fastening System Works The SR™ (Self-Setting Rivet) Fastener utilizes staggered pattern, multiple rivet attachments that pass between carcass fibers without severing them. The specially shaped head of each pilot nail works in conjunction with the installation tool anvil plate to set the rivets. The same hammer blows that set the rivets also compress the fastener plates into the belt covers. This provides maximum holding ability and distributes splice tension evenly across the width of the belt.
Flexco® R2
Flexco® R5
Lower fastener profile improves performance The Flexco® SR™ Scalloped Edge™ fastener features a low profile, reducing the fastener’s exposure to cleaner blades, skirt rubbers, and return idlers. Reduced wear and tear on the fastener extends the life of the splice to maximize belt availability. Designed for rubber plied and PVC solid woven belting, as well as for older worn belts unfit for vulcanized splices, the Flexco SR fastener features a patented Scalloped Edge
design. The scalloped design contributes to improved fastener profile resulting in increased compatibility with belt cleaners and improved cleaner-tip wear. A built-in viewport simplifies fastener positioning. And self-setting rivets are installed from the top side of the belt for faster installation. Plus powered installation options speed installation and reduce worker fatigue.
Scalloped Edge Lower fastener profile extends belt splice life Less effort required for installation Reduces maintenance costs Viewport assures proper installation alignment

Fastener Selection Guidelines Specify the Right Flexco® Rivet Hinged Fastener
Measure belt thickness
1. Determine belt tension. Most conveyor belting has a mechanical fastener rating. Care should be taken not to operate the belting or fasteners beyond their recommended ratings. 2. Measure belt thickness. If fasteners are to be countersunk, measure the belt thickness after a portion of the belt cover has been removed. Choose a fastener size which corresponds to belt thickness.
Measure smallest pulley diameter
3. Measure the diameter of the smallest pulley in your system. Only consider pulleys over which the belt makes at least a 90° wrap. For tail or take-up of the self-cleaning “wing type pulley”, 25% larger diameter dimensions are usually required. 4. Choose the fastener size that is appropriate for your specifications. Consult the selection chart on page 4 to guide your selection. 5. Select material. Refer to the material selection chart on page 4 for the metal characteristics which best suit your application. Not all sizes are available in all metals.
Select fastener size
6. Select installation method. Flexco® SR™ fasteners can be hammer applied or a power installation option can be chosen to speed installation time. Refer to pages 12-14. 7. Select rivets. Refer to page 8 to choose the appropriate rivets for your application. 8. Select hinge pin. Refer to page 10 to match the hinge pin to your application.

Flexco® BR6
Solid Plate Fasteners
New Flexco® BR6 for Higher Tension Applications with Smaller Pulley Diameters The new Flexco® BR6 fastener is an addition to our Rivet Solid Plate fastening system. Ideal for pulley diameters as small as 14” (350 mm), the 6-rivet configuration provides a staggered, multiple-point rivet attachment to allow rivets to pass between carcass fibers without severing them for maximum resistance to pull-out. Plus the patented Scalloped Edge™ provides for a lower fastener profile to extend belt splice life and reduce exposure to belt cleaner blades and other conveyor components.
Flexco BR6 Rivet Solid Plate Fasteners provide all the features of our existing line plus these added features: • For use with pulley diameters as small as 14” (350 mm) with operating tensions at 75 to 100% of belt tension ratings. • For use in applications with tension ranges up to 400 PIW (70kN/m), or greater, depending on the application. • Flexco BR6 can be used with traditional plied belt as well as with straight warp belting. • Ideal for applications where a sift-free splice is needed. • Offered in steel, stainless steel, and MegAlloy® for superior resistance to wear and abrasion. • Compatible with troughed belts with 20 degree and 35 degree troughing idlers. • BR6 Rivet Plate can be used as a successful alternative to vulcanized applications.

High strength is the result of superior design and plate compression on both the top and bottom sides of the belt. High tensile strength bolts compress top and bottom plates to distribute splice tension evenly across the entire width of each fastener plate. For added strength and pullout resistance, specially formed teeth penetrate deep into the belt carcass – without damaging carcass fibers.
Easy installation. Field-proven templets, punches, and boring tools make it easy to quickly and accurately prepare belts for fastener installation. Fasteners are easily installed on-site using portable hand tools or power tools. Our exclusive piloted bolts also contribute to faster installation.
Market applications. • Sand • Gravel • Crushed Stone • Grain • Coal • Cement • Salt

Flexco® BOLT SOLID PLATE
Rip Repair Use standard Flexco® Solid Plate fasteners to repair conveyor belt holes and edge tears. For jagged length-wise conveyor belt tears, standard Bolt Solid Plate fasteners can be combined with three-bolt Rip Repair fasteners. Three-bolt Rip Repair fasteners can also be used to bridge “soft” spots in the belt before they become rips.
Fastening System
Installation Tools 90º and 45º Templets Templets are required for 90˚ and 45˚ Bolt Solid Plate fastener installation. Templets simplify installation by providing a guide for accurate bolt-hole placement. Lengths for all standard belt widths are available. Ordering Information Belt Width in.

Flexco® BOLT SOLID PLATE Fastening System
Installation Tools and Supplies Hand installation tools
Power installation tools
The only tools needed for Bolt Solid Plate fastener installation are a templet and portable hand or power tools such as wrenches and belt punches. Impact wrench driven power tools are recommended and can reduce installation time by at least 50%.
Flexco-Lok® Tape Rigid nylon tape helps eliminate belt ripples on plied or solid-woven belting so belts run smoothly over pulleys and under cleaners. Also helps seal splices against seepage of fines and moisture.
Bolt Breaker
Cracking Chisel With a hammer and cracking chisel, individual worn plates can be easily replaced – without resorting to replacement of the entire splice.

www.flexco.com
Alligator® Staple Fastening System
Fastener Overview How the Alligator® Ready Set™ Fastening System Works Designed for light and medium-duty synthetic carcass belting, the Alligator® Staple fastener utilizes high tensile, stainless steel staple attachment, in conjunction with an extended plate design. This design separates the point of fastener penetration from the line of belt flexing to eliminate splice fatigue at the point of belt attachment. Staple fasteners are furnished in strips with a bridge between each fastener plate. This strip design minimizes the chance of individual parts dislodging into the conveyed product. The one-piece design provides a stronger splice, greater resistance to impact damage, and a smoother, unrippled joint that simplifies hinge pin insertion. Staples are hammer driven through the fastener and belt, working between the carcass fibers without severing them. The staples are then clinched cross-wise to the belt, so that belt tension does not pull against the staples to unclinch them.
Ready Set™ Fasteners
Conventional Staple Fasteners
Available in Steel, 316 Stainless Steel, and 430 Stainless Steel. Ready Set Staple Fasteners feature a one-piece fastener strip with pre-inserted staples, reducing installation time by eliminating the need to handle and load individual staples.
Available in abrasion resistant MegAlloy® providing several times the service life of steel. Staples are separate from the fastener plates. Green guide blocks (ST4-5) must be installed on the installation tool and users can insert staples using the C150 staple dispenser.
Fastener Materials Steel: Standard fastener material is suitable for most applications. Plated for rust and corrosion resistance.
MegAlloy®: Superior resistance to wear and abrasion, providing several times the service life of steel. Not recommended where subject to impact or corrosion.
Stainless Steel: Type 316 provides extra resistance to abrasion, magnetic attraction, and corrosion from acids and chemicals. Also excellent for high-sanitary requirements.
Magnetic Stainless Type 430: For use with magnetic separators and provides resistance to wear and abrasion. Plate, staple, and hinge pins are all constructed from magnetic stainless steel.

Alligator® Staple Fastening System
Fastener Selection Guidelines Specify the Right Alligator® Staple Fastener 1. Determine belt tension. Most conveyor belting has a mechanical fastener rating. Exercise care to ensure belting or fasteners are operated within the recommended range of their capabilities. 2. Measure belt thickness. Choose a fastener size which corresponds to belt thickness in the skived area. Measure after any impression top cover has been removed.
Skive impression cover.
3. Measure the diameter of the smallest pulley in your system. Minimum pulley diameters for individual fasteners are noted in the specification charts for individual fasteners. 4. Choose appropriate fastener size. Use specifications for individual fastener sizes to guide your selection. 5. Select material. Refer to the material selection chart on page 2 for the metal characteristics which best suit your application. Not all sizes and styles are available in all metals.
Measure belt thickness.

ALLIGATOR® Belt Lacing System
For Easy, Economical Installation of a Low Profile Belt Splice Alligator® Lacing is available in continuous lengths to fit any belt width and provides uniform tension across the full belt width. The one-piece fastener strip also ensures that there are no loose pieces to work themselves out of the belt and into the conveyed product. Designed for belts from 1/32” to 1/2” ( .8 mm to 12.5 mm)*, Alligator Belt Lacing installation requires no special tools, only a hammer. The lacing is secured with teeth that embed lengthwise on the belt, providing a strong, vise-like hold. Clips hold gauge rod and lacing firmly and squarely against the belt during the installation process to ensure a strong, straight splice. The straight splice also helps ease hinge pin insertion.

AlligAtor® PlAstic rivet Fastener system
Mechanically Applied Non-Metallic Fastener is a Time and MoneySaving Alternative to Vulcanization The Alligator® Plastic Rivet fastener system offers the unique ability of being mechanically applied with a portable installation tool, in addition to other non-metallic features such as: non-scratching, non-magnetic, and a quiet splice as it operates over conveyor components. The hinged splice allows for users to remove the hinge pin for easy belt cleaning or installation onto the conveyor system with minimal dismantling. The features of the Alligator Plastic Rivet system make it a low-cost alternative to the time and expense associated with vulcanization.
Key features of the Alligator Plastic Rivet fastener include rivets molded into the top plate for a smooth and flat cleaning surface, beveled front edge of fastener for easy transition over conveyor components, and countersunk installed rivets. With three color choices available, select the fastener that best fits your needs for applications from -20ºF to 180ºF (-29ºC to 82ºC). Black: UV-resistant for extended life in outdoor applications. White: FDA-accepted material resists weak acids, alkali, hydrocarbons, ester solvents, and alcohols. Blue:
FDA-accepted material with the same resistance as the white offering but colored blue to match blue belts used in many food applications.

Alligator® Rivet Fastening System
A Strong, Easy To Install Splice For Round Hay Baler Applications Alligator® Rivet offers easy installation and low cost – without sacrificing reliability and long life. These advantages improve baler performance, bottom-line costs, and overall productivity. Fasteners, rivets, and connecting pins are made of strong, abrasion-resistant stainless steel. Additionally, the fastener’s leading edge has a low profile to minimize snagging and wear on other components, such as rollers. Alligator Rivet is also compatible with net wrap balers.
Fasteners are available in 4”, 6”, 7”, 10” and 14” (100 mm, 150 mm, 175 mm, 250 mm and 350 mm) pre-cut lengths and can be cut to shorter lengths.
Easy, On-Site Installation at a Lower Cost The Alligator Rivet splice is easier to install – and less costly – than other competitive brands. And, without ever removing the belts from the baler, field installation is quick and easy with only the portable application tool and a 1 lb. hammer.
High Strength and Longer Life • Rugged, stainless steel design is abrasion and corrosionresistant and has a long life for severe, heavy-duty applications. • Self-setting rivets accommodate belts 1/8” to 7/32” (3.2 mm to 5.6 mm) thick and 3-1/2” (88 mm) minimum pulley diameters. They can be applied to all types of baler belting, including used belts. • The connecting pin is designed for long life. It is a large diameter (.140” or 3.6 mm) hardened spring, stainless steel material.
