In my youth, I was fascinated by the beauty of the gemstones my grandfather collected. I was in awe of how the refracted light changed their colors. And I grew to understand how color is the key for every room in your home. When designing a room, create colorful vignettes which will fit like the pieces of a puzzle to create WHERE STYLE LIVES an overall design. Each vignette will become part of the enjoy design scheme. And then your story unfolds. Your story is inspired by all we find around us. From the array of colors in nature and art, to the collection of colors in any of our closets. It might be a fabulous red dress, or a turquoise silk blouse that receives compliments every time you wear it. It’s the purple and yellow crocuses popping up as Spring comes to life. And the fields of daffodils that return each year. The purples, pinks, and yellows found in the coral reefs of the ocean. Or the sky when it’s blue at sunrise or orange at sunset. “These are just a few of the simple rules of color that I have learned along the way.” When you embrace color, you are harnessing an energy that will be reflected in your home. Homes tell stories about the people who live in them and it’s an interior designer who captures and expresses that story. My key insight in my book, “A Case for Color” is the many moods that color can enthuse within us. It excites us, it makes us happy, it can make us feel romantic, it’s at the heart of our every emotion. It tells the story of our lives and our home.
