SPECIAL NOTE FOR THURSDAY: You can always go back to Siena Condos after the round to change/shower, etc., but also feel free to bring a change of clothes on Thursday, especially if you plan to play some additional golf or tennis after our 18-hole match. There is a nice locker room with showers, so you can change after golf, have a late lunch, drinks, etc. There is also a spa at Bella, so if you want to schedule a post-golf massage, that could be an option - Spa: 407469-4001. There are also tennis courts and a fitness center, as well as a nice pool with a covered bar area. So just bring what you need, especially a change of clothes for dinner.
THE MATCH
On paper the teams look very evenly matched (using handicaps, algorithms, third-party Fortune Tellers and a host of other data points – it’s pretty tight).
SCORING: We want this to be fun and competitive, and not a grind to get around the course, especially since the course has let the rough grow and it’s pretty thick, meaning if you don’t hit the fairway with your drive, it’s a chore to find it. With that in mind, we grouped everyone into either the “A” Flight or “B” Flight. The “A” Flight will play their own ball each day (Day 1 is a Best Ball and Day 2 is a head-to-head Singles Match). The “B” Flight will play a Scramble Format on both days (Captains Choice Format). More details below.
LIVE LEADERBOARD: Scoring can be done by a designated person in your foursome, and will be entered into a Live Leaderboard on your cell phone (which everyone can access by going to the home page of www.FloridaMountainInvitational.com). This is where you will enter the score after each hole is completed (see button on the page to do so), and also where you can view the Live Leaderboard. If everyone keeps up with this, it is a great way to see where the competition stands at any moment, and can help players determine if they need to take some chances or stage a comeback. Quick tutorial here: https://vimeo.com/868987733
We’ve tentatively nominated the following people to keep score, but you’re welcome to adjust for your foursome if you prefer:
• Jim Matoska
• John Pinter
• Aiden Lynch
• Dom Anagnos
• Austin Pack
• Allen Jones
Scoring – Day 1 Best Ball (A Flight)
Each two-person team will record their best score out of the two players for each hole (Best Ball format). For each hole, one point is awarded to the team that wins that hole, and a 1/2 point is awarded to both teams if the hole is tied. With this scoring, every hole is important, even if your team gets closed out of a match with a few holes to go, those final holes still have some meaning in the big picture. In addition, the team that wins their overall match gets a bonus point.
Scoring – Day 1 Scramble (B Flight)
For those teams in the Scramble format, each two-person team will hit their drive, then choose the best one. Then each player will hit their approach shot, and choose the best one. This process repeats until the hole is finished. You record the score for your two-person team. For each hole, one point is awarded to the team that wins that hole, and a 1/2 point is awarded to both teams if the hole is tied. In addition, the team that wins their overall match gets a bonus point.
Scoring – Day 2 Singles Match (A Flight)
You are paired against a golfer from the opposing team. Each golfer will record their score on each hole. For each hole, one point is awarded to the golfer that wins that hole, and a 1/2 point is awarded to both golfers if the hole is tied. With this scoring, every hole is important, even if your team gets closed out of a match with a few holes to go, those final holes still have some meaning in the big picture. In addition, the golfer that wins the overall match gets a bonus point.
Scoring – Day 2 Scramble (B Flight)
Same as Day 1.
Tournament Rule For Lost Ball
The golf course has a deep rough this year, and missing the fairway can lead to an extended search to find your ball. Experience says that there’s a low probability in finding it. Pardon the pun, but it's rough out there. While it's ok to search for it, we certainly want to avoid holding up anyone behind us for too long.
Therefore, we'll implement our own tournament rule:
If the ball goes into the rough and the player cannot find it, you can take a one-stroke penalty and place the ball in the fairway along the path that it entered the rough, no closer to the hole.
CLUB RULES
The Club at Bella Collina has a few dress code rules and like most private clubs, it's pretty standard. No need for a jacket in the dining room, but the biggest ones are:
• no hats in the dining room or in the bar/grill/19th hole
• no untucked shirts on the golf course or in the Club
• no cargo shorts (or daisy dukes, sorry Ken).
• No backward hats on the golf course (that's why Tony Romo can't join)!
Below is more detail:
19th Hole Restaurant (an option for post-golf drinks, lunch or dinner)
• Shirts, shoes/sandals and shorts are permitted.
• Casual slacks and collared shirts preferred.
• Denim is allowed.
• Appropriate sports and tennis wear.
• No graphic tees permitted.
• No tank tops for men permitted.
• No baseball caps, or hats, to be worn inside the Club.

• Dresses, skirts, slacks, mid-length shorts and blouses are acceptable for the ladies.
• No denim permitted.
• No baseball caps, or hats, to be worn inside the Club.

Itinerary
Tuesday:
Arrive: Address for condos and Club are:
Siena Condo address (for Uber): 16300 County Road 455, Montverde, FL 34756
Bella Collina Club address: 15920 County Rd 455 Montverde, FL34756
Practice Round Option: If anyone wants to play on Tuesday, let me know as soon as you figure out when, and I can call and try and get tee times. It’s hard to say how busy the course will be and what will be open, but I can try and get a few tee times set aside if there is an interest. Just shoot me a text and let me know if you want to play on Tuesday.
Wednesday:
Breakfast: You can use The 19th Hole to order breakfast (dine in or take out). You can pay with credit card (some venues require it to be billed to a Member, but 19th hole does not). They have a great breakfast menu (and great coffee), so it’s worth the trip. You can also cook in your Siena condo (fully equipped kitchen).
Golf: Starting at 10:30am – 11:10 am and should finish by 2:30 – 3:15 pm (see tee times at https://floridamountaininvitational.com/tee-times)
Tennis (for those not playing golf): Let me know if you want to play tennis and I can reserve a court time for you. Not sure what is open, but there are six courts, plus 3 Pickleball courts, so there should be room. Just text me if you want to do that and I’ll set it up (407-414-5515).
The Pool and Fitness: The pool itself will be open, but in the Fall season, they only staff it on the weekends, so we’re working to see if they’ll staff it for our group from 3pm – 6pm (post golf). If they can’t, you can still order food and drinks at the 19th hole and bring it down there and use the pool and tables (there are also pool towels down there, so no need to bring any). If
you have any problems getting into the pool or fitness center, go through the fitness center next door and ask for Michelle. Tell her you are a guest of mine and they will get you access to the pool and/or fitness. You may need to sign in, so you can do that at the Fitness Center desk. For anyone not golfing, you can use the pool and then use the 19th hole to get food and drinks. It’s a little bit of a walk to and from, just FYI.
Lunch/Drinks post golf: You can eat lunch at the 19th Hole and I’m working on having the pool bar staffed for us in case anyone wants to eat/drink down by the pool. See more details above. If they can’t staff it, you can still order food and drinks at the 19th hole and bring it down there and use the pool and tables. If you have any problems getting into the pool, go through the fitness center next door and ask for Michelle. Tell her you are a guest of mine and they will get you access to the pool. Wednesday Dinner:
You can either eat at the 19th hole, or I would recommend going into downtown Winter Garden. It’s about 15-20 minutes from Bella Collina, and has some great restaurants and a very cool small-town vibe. You can see the top options at: https://floridamountaininvitational.com/dining-options

And there will also be a sampling of 4 different dishes for dessert. Dress is country club casual. You can wear jeans for the Wine Cellar, but if we have a drink in Cuccina beforehand, they don’t allow jeans, so it may be better to go without (jeans, that is, not pants altogether).
