ffizzi Interiors was founded in 2004 by Stephanie Hill, whose client-focused approach is synonymous with this vibrant interior design business. The Uffizzi showroom in Collingham is not only an inspiring setting, but is also a great showcase for her own collection of elegantly designed furniture. Transforming clients’ interior spaces, whilst at the same time offering made to order or bespoke pieces, Uffizzi Interiors is expertly placed to deliver unique and highly personalised interior design. But it is Stephanie’s attention to detail, efficiency and passion for what she does that sets her apart and has been a driving force in her career, which spans over 15 years. Stephanie’s interest in properties and interiors started when she was a child. ‘As a young girl I never played with my dolls, but created and decorated homes for them! It was really important to me to make sure they were just right. I used to visit wallpaper, fabric and carpet shops asking for any samples, swatches or off-cuts to bring my schemes to life. My passion was such that at 15 I started saving to buy a house to refurbish and sell and at 21 I bought my first investment property. Kitchens have to be practical and serviceable as well as stylish – the functional ‘flow’ of the space is as important as aesthetic factors. Quality of materials, finishes and technology are all key elements that help to make the everyday remarkable. Bedrooms are spaces for relaxation and serenity. If there is any room in the house that can be afforded total opulence, then it has to be the bedroom. Bathroom design is all about enhancing the personal rituals of each individual. From those who love an invigorating high-pressure shower, to others who look to the bathroom as a place to languish in the comfort of a steamy spa bath, the bathroom should be a place to prepare, refresh and renew. Dining rooms are very much about balancing everyday needs with socialising and special occasions. Some use a dining room on a day-today basis, whilst for others it is a space to host friends and entertain in a more formal way. Studies should be defined by your personal interests both professionally and in leisure, giving the opportunity for some fun and interesting designs. Games rooms have become key spaces in the home for individual and family entertainment, combining traditional games and new technology. Whether it’s about indulging your senses with the latest high definition screen and surround sound, entertaining friends in a multiseat home-cinema, or enjoying a contemplative game of chess, creating a conducive environment for your pleasure-time has never been so important. Reception rooms are often the central hub of the home and should reflect the individual rhythm and pace of the household. The space should be determined by the personalities who occupy them, as well as providing for the needs of guests.

My love affair with furniture…. Uffizzi’s founder, Stephanie Hill, has long had a desire to develop her own furniture collection as a natural extension to her interior design business. Now her hard work has come to fruition with the launch of Uffizzi Liberty, a collection of furniture designed and developed by Stephanie, due for launch later this year. The furniture will be manufactured in Stephanie’s home county of Yorkshire by some of the region’s finest furniture makers and master craftsmen. The collection comprises of beautiful, interchangeable, bespoke pieces of furniture and incorporates tables, seating, lighting and mirrors. Utilising semi-precious materials and finishes to create elegant individual items that are simultaneously glamorous and inspiring has been a top priority for Stephanie. Many of the pieces are back lit adding ambience and interest for that true ‘wow’ factor. ‘Why did I get into designing my own pieces? I was constantly searching for unique, unusual, beautiful pieces for my clients and very rarely finding that special item that I was looking for. It was then that I began to design my own pieces and started to have them made for me.’ Fiercely proud of her roots, it was important to Stephanie to ensure that this was a homegrown venture. Not only is each range in the collection named after some of her favourite Yorkshire villages, but she also works with some of Yorkshire’s finest craftsmen. This not only gives Stephanie the opportunity to develop the highest quality product, but also affords her the immediacy of travelling just a few miles to a local workshop to experiment with materials, finesse detailing and plan final specifications side by side with the experts who will ultimately make them. 14

The Linton The Linton Collection is based around a combination of stacked ellipses. Through use of different materials such as steel, leatherette and oak veneer an infinite number of combinations can be created. The possibilities are endless…

Once every detail is agreed; a custom made sample is approved for colour and the carpet design is considered perfect, Signature proceeds with manufacture. Signature’s carpets are made to any size and without any unsightly seams, created to fit any shape, from an awkward alcove to every curve of a sweeping, spiral staircase. Hand made elements of the carpets are made upright on vertical frames by Signature’s talented crafts people. The construction is 100% New Zealand wool custom dyed to the precise shades needed to make the design excel in itself and sit perfectly as a complement to the interior.

Wool has always been a natural first choice for carpets and the outstanding properties of New Zealand wool which is the purest, whitest wool in the world, enables it to be dyed to long-lasting, vibrant hues and clean, fresh pastels. It is soft, strong and durable, with a natural resistance to fire, dirt and crushing, so carpets made from it will be practical, safe and comfortable, with good looks that will last. The finished Signature product is created in dense velvet pile, sometimes with hand carved sculptured details and loop pile used to introduce variation in texture. Born of a long pedigree that embraces both Maples, Waring and Gillow and Sofa Workshop, Sofas&Stuff is the latest handmade, upholstered sofa incarnation from established furniture entrepreneur, Andrew Cussins, son of the late Manny Cussins, the legendary 1970’s chairman of Leeds United. Three of Sofas&Stuff’s 12 UK stores are based in the North of England: in Manchester, Harrogate and at Redbrick Mill just outside Leeds.
