324 Antique Junghans Mantle Clock This gorgeous, German Junghans mantle clock, circa 1920 to 1930 is a work of art. The Junghans clock and watch empire began modestly enough. In 1861, two German brothers named Erhard and Jakob Junghan opened their small family business in a little town in the Black Forest known as Schramberg. In the beginning, the brothers manufactured individual watch parts to be used by other, larger manufacturers. By 1866, however, the talented brothers began producing their own clocks. In 1890, Arthur Junghans (who took over for his father Erhard after the elder's death) trademarked the signature eight-point star, which is still used as the Junghans' trademark today. By 1903, Junghans had become the largest watch factory in the entire world. Today, Junghans produces many different styles of watches but only a limited number of clocks. However, during their nearly 150 years in business, Junghans produced a number of wonderful clocks. Their ever-changing exteriors read like a history of design in the 20th century. Junghans mantle clocks from the 19th century are elegantly beautiful; many have swinging pendulums, very high quality oak wood cases, delicate engravings, and other wonderfully old-fashioned touches. A cathedral gong strikes on the half hour and hour. It will look fabulous on your mantle! Two year warranty.

327 Joan Engelmeyer Original Joan Engelmeyer paints day to day life with an eye for the underlying nerve that makes experience powerful and personal. Through minimal detail and stylized human forms, she works to catch the viewer unaware. You see a simple scene but feel a richer drama, one you've witnessed, or been apart of. Ms. Engelmeyer chooses her subjects for their levels of meaning and expression. Layers of glazing sustain the depth of the subject. She uses her subjects as metaphors for larger themes, reinforcing them through the use of different surfaces, materials, and design elements. By producing a series of paintings on different subjects, Ms. Engelmeyer attempts to sift down to the basic elements of experience-the conflicting core of emotions that make life complex and compelling. In the end, she hopes the viewers see a refracted glimmer of their own lives through her work. This beautiful Joan Engelmeyer original – Breast Stroke – is an encaustic on linen on board, and will look lovely in your home. Value: $250.00 Thank you to Joan Engelmeyer

345 Jenn Brisson Original ''Humphrey'' Britist Columbia grown, Jenn Brisson has always drawn and likes all things creepy. Known as the ''school artist,'' it made sense that she fell into Classical Animation. After graduating from VFS in ‘95, Jenn worked in animation for 12 years around the world working on films like ''Space Jam'', ''Prince of Egypt'' and ''Curious George.'' Jenn has always painted on the side, influenced by the darkness she feels in the world, mixed with the light that shines around it. Jenn loves playing with colors in her paintings. Her techniques have included patterned paper, ripped tissue, spray paint, pen, marker, sparkles and even WhiteOut. She also has an obsession with collecting things. Jenn likes to salvage what others might consider garbage, especially items that could one day be used as canvas. Most recently, her favorites include broken and used skateboards as well as old and abandoned instruments. Currently, Jenn works in a Sound Studio in North Van and rocks out with her pals while living happily with her pet python, bearded dragon, tarantula and cat. This is Humphrey. 349 Tom Hoffmann Original Watercolor Tom Hoffmann is a watercolor painter. As both practicing artist and teacher he has been dedicated to the medium for more than thirty years. Tom's work is primarily painted from life in the city and in remote landscapes throughout the Northwest. He values an economy of means that allows each stroke to carry the maximum weight of information and meaning. In Tom's paintings, two stories are being told at once: one comes through the subject matter, which speaks of the dignity of labor, the utilitarian beauty of the work site or the perfection of wilderness; the other comes from the paint itself. When watercolor is applied with confidence the finished painting is a record of the process of its creation. Every brushstroke remains separately visible, which allows the viewer to see and understand how the illusion of space, light and substance came to be. Tom's respect for both his subject and his medium are unmistakable. Tom Hoffmann's paintings have been shown in the Seattle Art Museum, Frye Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Whatcom County Museum, The Copley Society of Boston and the Armory at Park Avenue in New York City. He was educated at Amherst College, Massachusetts and the University of London, England. Enjoy this original Watercolor painting by Gate Institute artist, Tom Hoffmann. Value: $300.00 Thank you to Tom Hoffmann

356 Locker Lady Book If you walk down the main hallway of tall, red lockers at Lake Washington Girls Middle School, you may notice that each one has a silver nameplate at it’s top. These nameplates do not refer to the students whose belongings reside within the lockers. Instead, every locker bears the name of an inspirational woman – such as Ida B. Wells, Rachel Carson, and Elizabeth Blackwell – who reminds our girls of the qualities that reside within each one of them: intelligence, strength, courage, passion, and compassion, and the capacity to become anything they dare to dream of. As our students grow into young women strong in mind, body, and voice, we make it a point to surround them - quite literally - with strong female role models and changemakers. We lovingly refer to these women as Locker Ladies, a title that is a true badge of honor at LWGMS. In the fall of 2010, each of our students created a portrait of her own locker's Locker Lady, and wrote her biography. With the help of faculty and staff, we created this collection of art and writing and dedicate it to the women who have blazed the paths of equality, inspiration, and opportunity for all girls and women – indeed, for all people – in the United States. Be the first to own this book, signed by every member of the LWGMS community! Value: $150.00 Thank you to LWGMS

359 Budhi Skincare Gift Basket The philosophy of Budhi Skincare is embodied in its name: Budhi is the Sanskrit word for intellect. They want kids to use their heads, to make responsible choices for the health of their body and to take a deeper look beyond the surface of skin. Their goal is to help restore their confidence in the knowledge that they are not alone in their struggle to manage their skin issues. What makes Budhi Teencare different is what's not in our products. Budhi Skincare products are free of chemicals, such as: parabens, sodium laurel/laureth sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrance, dyes and irritating essential oils such as lavender, citrus and peppermint. Why? Because your skin is the largest organ of your body and what you put on your body can be absorbed into your body. All of the above ingredients are questionable as to their safety, especially to a child's lifetime exposure, so we have erred on the side of caution and chosen not to use them in our formulas. As for essential oils, they may smell great but don't belong on your face! Some essential oils may cause allergic reactions and irritate your skin. This Budhi Skincare gift basket is perfect for your teen and includes clean shampoo, shine conditioner, daily shine control moisturizer, pore treatment, acne medication, body and face wash, lip balm, and a washcloth. Value: $149.99 Thank you to Budhi Skincare

Rules of the Auction Lake Washington Girls Middle School reserves the right to withdraw any item from sale. Lake Washington Girls Middle School has endeavored to catalog and describe the auction items correctly based on the information given by the donor, but all items are sold “as is.” No statements contained in the program or made orally at the sale or elsewhere shall be deemed a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability. Bidders should carefully note the specific restrictions, conditions, and expiration dates for items purchased. We appreciate your observance of these restrictions, as future donations depend upon it. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay his or her bid price in full if his or her bid is deemed the high bid for an item at the conclusion of the auction. Once the auction closing time is announced, no further bids may be made. Volunteers are instructed to circle the winning bid and remove the bid sheets immediately for processing. Your cooperation is appreciated. All winning bids are final. There will be no exchange or refund on items unless otherwise specified. All items must be taken home the evening of the auction. When buying auction items, all contributions in excess of the fair market value of the items are tax deductible as a gift to a charitable organization. Lake Washington Girls Middle School urges all attendees, donors, and contributors to consult IRS Revenue Ruling 67-246 and their tax consultant.
Payment Options In addition to the standard checkout procedure, you also have the option to Express Pay. Registering for Express Pay allows you to prepay for the evening’s purchases and skip the lines at checkout. If you do not make any purchases the evening of the auction, we will void and shred your credit card information or signed check. Sign up for Express Pay when you register by leaving a signed credit receipt (MasterCard, Discover, or Visa) or a check with our registration team, and we will record your purchases throughout the evening. When the bidding is over, your account will be updated, and you’re on your way. About a week after the auction you will receive your receipt and any other paperwork (gift certificates, etc.) in the mail. If you choose not to use Express Pay, checkout will open at 8:45 p.m. We accept cash, checks (the best two options for the school), MasterCard, Discover, and Visa. Please make checks payable to LWGMS. Sales tax will be applied as applicable.
